On Monday, Full Tilt announced that they have a new series, Onyx Cup, of high stakes live events on its way. Onyx Cup will be comprised of 6 No Limit Holdem tournaments in USA, Europe and Asia. The buy-in for each event will be between $100,000 and $300,000. The top 3 players in each event will receive points and at the end of the season the player with the most points will receive a luxury sports car - along with the Onyx Cup title.

The first event will take place in Las Vegas May 11-12. All events will be filmed and broadcasted in 20 languages in 40 different countries. Anyone who can afford the buy-in can take part in Onyx Cup. It's also possible to qualify online at Full Tilt Poker (starting on March 15).

Complete madness. Some people really don't know what to do with all their money. A single $100k tourney is expensive, but a serie of 6 those tourneys is just ridiculous.

I find this amazing, and very interesting. Can't wait to see the tourney on TV, unless of course I qualify!

We should start a poll and vote or bet or something on which pro will win this. not sure if Negreanu has entered the cup, but if he did, he would be my choice Smile

wow thats crazy money to play in a tournament, dont think i'll ever play tournaments with even one tenth of that buyin.
gl to ppl who can afford to play them though i doubt they will find many takers

I don't believe there will be many players in this Cup. Looks like something nice to watch on the tv, but EXTREMELY TOO MUCH RISKY to decide wether or not change the bank loan for the house and car to a normal loan just to enter it! Blink Smile

Well if i did managed to qualify, it would be difficult not cash in your entry in
tournement$. If you have a 300K entry(not a tourneyticket), would u play for it,
or keep 300K T$ ? U would have to be a brave man Smile Cool

Can't argue with Jazz. For me though, it just heightens the fantasy of a deep run with all the marbles on the line! I didn't get into poker for the academics, that's just gravy. If my motivation for excellence ever stops at a certain number, say, or anything surreal BECAUSE it's surreal, then it's time for me to find another reason to play or give it up entirely. I think it's FUN! What do you think a busboy making $1.38/hr in '72 thought about a $250,000 purse? What do you reckon he'd say about fifteen Mill in weekly payout? Or $50 Billion (with a B) per annum? Nothing. He wouldn't understand it. So, now it's our turn. I love it. It doesn't hurt that I've won two Onyx Cup- round 2 tkts, does it?

I think this is an excellent tourney, I would love to make it in. Guess I'll have to start playing the freerolls though as I don't play that high yet! Big Smile

i m already in the final starting 1 st of may! i hope i win 1 st place .that wll be really something. can i sell my ticket?
 loserx1315/04/2011 12:45:58 GMT
I accept all stakes, donations, et al., as long as return is not expected. Unfortunately, I have not as yet put two decent runs end-to-end. Gotta start somewhere. Good felt to you, Sapaducy. play tight, but play
