Yes this is not good for poker but its expected and i would expect it on high stakes but I have seen what a suspect is colusion at lower stakes to. But I can't think of any way it's possible to stop it but I am told by the powers a IPOKER william hill in particular that any one caught colusion losese their account and any money they have in there.
I don't know anyone personal it has happened to but it does bring to the question did Jose lose his account and money and was any money refunded.
Curious about that to and thanks in advance.

Its so sad to see the name of Portugal in such situation. What a way to try to win some more to whoever fell on his net. What a "wolf" with shark skin trying to get some high stakes "sheeps" dressed in fish suits.
And remembering he started to play with €30 he asked his mom for the first deposit... Just like politicians: when not on the center of the power, all have good intentions, but after getting there, it must be very dificult to deal with the power...

In every sport you have cheating. Doping, fixing games, paying judges...

I'm sorry but this news is pretty poor.
The most relevant information is missing in this article - he became friends with some IPoker highstakes regs and got them to be allowed to "sweat" (as in watching them play via teamviewer with holecards etc) them while playing against them. Otherwise, where would the cheating be in the whole story?
He also lost his sponsorship deal on lockpoker and got fired as coach of pokerstrategy.com.
Also, the account name is "Sauron1989",not Saruon.

So you are saying he enetered with his normal acount in one PC watching their "friends" cards and with the other acount he played against them knowing his and oponents cards.... I guess now is the right time to start talking about rigged poker...
|
tOxIcFiSh | 09/08/2011 12:28:00 GMT |
thats not rigged poker its about someone setting up vnc or team viewer or such on a mates comp and cheating him or her. If i caught someone doing that to me i would be seriously angry and get them arrested and most likely give them a fat lip to.
To cheat a mate is real low

Yeah,he was sweating (watching) them while playing,in a few accosiations while he played with them (not all the time because it wouldve become obvious, but there have been a few sessions of that happening). The only way it got even obvious was that Macedo always stopped the sweat session when sauron quit the guy he was playing at the time

What puzzles me is the guys he cheated must of been real unaware of how team viewer or VNC works but in the case of vnc it can be almost impossible to know but he would need access to the mates computer.
But it is the only way i know of seeing other peoples cards but I have been told its possible other ways but i dont believe it until i see it.
But maybe your guys know better thanks in advance
|
BeMyATMplz | 09/08/2011 12:41:03 GMT |
He doesnt need access to his computer. With teamviewer a window appears in which the guy viewing can see the whole screen of his friend. So he just played against the guy he was watching and in another window he just looked at his hole cards
|
tOxIcFiSh | 09/08/2011 12:48:30 GMT |
I know how team viewer works i have used it a lot VNC to i have the full code for vnc I am in fact a VB programmer written chat rooms to. But no matter how you look it you have to set up team viewer on his computer and you have to have access to it I know of no way to get to someones computer without software that allows it. and no one is going to install team viewer without knowing it.
And come to that when team viewer comes up it should show its come up even if you set it to perminant access.

Very sad. Either he thought he was very smart to get away with it or he really is that stupid? He propably used his own IP adress.

BeMyATMplz | 09/08/2011 12:57:06 GMT |
No,the friend was aware of Macedo watching him, however, they didnt know Macedo = Sauron1989

The IP address would not be relevant he is viewing other peoples computer so the host site would not be aware of that fact.
He is only able to cheat his mate but in the process others play would be affected in any event he should lose his dosh and lose his account and be bared from other sites. And have any others got a rebate

SuperNoob | 09/08/2011 14:17:40 GMT |
theres one thing very fishy about this considering macedo first denied over and over again the cheating scam and then later begged to not make it public as he would lose his sponsors, he surely has no guilt or w/e feelings he described in his "confession". hes already lost his sponsors, everyone knows hes a scam artist. then why is he paying back money with compensation when he could just disappear? surely theres more to this, something hes trying to hide. and now both qureshi and jungleman are believed to have a role in this. lets see where it goes
and just my opinion but - his introductory post looks like a fantasy of a young poker wannabe / poker movie script. while people were still unconvinced if hes real or not, Lock Poker go ahead and make him a pro. and this removed doubts in many people's minds that he was real. Lock poker just made a big fool out of themselves

I don't want to say i'm a prophet or anything lol, but after i first read the first high stakes news about this guy i new something was fishy, i don't know why, i just felt that way...
I mean it's okay to learn from the pros and learn other to improve their poker game but i never really understand why they need to play on real money in this training sessions...
They say it's more realistic, but if you want to be a pro you need to play on real or play money the same

This that happened should be taken care like any other crime. It could even be used as an example that Internet isnt just anarchy, or that only sex related crimes are punished when talking about Internet. If online poker enterprises are required to respect a bunch of laws, those who use those online poker rooms with bad intentions should also be punished. I dont think it is enough what already have been anounced, that he is going to pay with good tax to all of the players he robbed. He should be present to the court, this is the only way to win for two ways: 1st - all players would be aware of the consequences of trying to do things as they shouldnt; 2nd - poker industry would win credibility for not being them the bad guys this time; I am really sad for being a portuguese, even more a guy which great part of the portuguese poker comunity respected so much...

Nice. I just read on the news that Daniel "jungleman12" Cates was thinking about going to live to José Macedo's house in Lisbon, Portugal, after he has been forbiden to enter Canadá because something was wrong with his passport. Now think about José Macedo have really lost after doing this mess: for a couple of thousand dollars, he ruined his carreer, he lost all his friends. This is the new face for the old saying "the higher you go, the higher is the fall". So quick. His story would give a really nice movie, with a great moral lesson in the end! Year 1, 2, 3 and 4: studying poker real hard. Year 5: asking €30 to his mother and turn them into $2,000,000 in a couple of months. Year 6: make a huge mess and ruin his promissing carreer. Or, just another, for a quick laugh: buying poker book, $5; start playing online poker, €30; cheating friends on high stakes, priceless! Sorry for so many posts, this guy made me loose control.
