WPT Montreal: Final Table Is Set - Gavin Smith Looking For Another WPT Title!

Ladies and gentlemen, the record field (1,173) at the 2012 World Poker Tour Montreal Main Event has now been narrowed down to only 6 players and a final table. The action will start at 4:00pm ET today and there is about 23 minutes left in Level 31, with blinds at 60k-120k and a 20k ante.

The biggest name on the final table is the Canadian poker pro Gavin Smith, who won the 2005 $10,000 WPT No Limit Hold'em Championship Mirage Poker Showdown, Las Vegas. However, he has the smallest stack (1.6 million - 13 bb) and will need to double up quickly to have a chance of getting that second WPT title. The chip leader is Sylvain Siebert with 8.8 million chips, and he's closely followed by Jeff Gross with 8.6 million.

I don't think Gavin Smith will be able to reach another WPT Title, looking at his rank in that table. It's not impossible, but will sure be very difficult. First four will have big fights for sure, but won't be expecting the other two to run out on the blinds, and those two also don't have time to wait for big hands on good position.

yes it could be, but tell me, who let you double up twice in row at last 6 players in 30 mins? Yes it happens but these guy are taft players. I still hope Roy, like his style

Yeah, don't recognize any of those players, but after this game if Gavin doesn't pull something out of hiswe'll know someone's name better in the near future. Sure would be nice to be a first time winner at something this big!

Records were broken but once the lights had dimmed and the chips had settled it was Canadian Jonathan Roy who stood as the latest WPT Champion, title and $779,710.A total field of 1,173 players descended on Montreal's Playground Poker Club for the first ever World Poker Tour event in the city
