WPT Montreal: Michael Gathy Leads Final 50

Michael Gathy50 players out of 648 entries are all that remain in the partypoker.net WPT Montreal Main Event after Day 2 concluded last night. Day 3 kicks of at 12:00 local time today with the average stack at approx. 390k or 39 big blinds. Belgian pro Michael Gathy (over $2.2 million in live tournament earnings) will lead the way with 860k (86 big blinds) and not far behind are Ema Zajmovic and Tam Ho with around 800k in chips each.

Start of Day 2 chip leader and WPT Champions Club member Eric Afriat was eliminated in 63rd place (CAD $7,410), but there are still many familar names alive and kicking. Perhaps the most interesting table at the start of Day 3 will be the one with, for example, Mike Sexton, Andrew Frankenberger, Jake Schwartz and Justin Liberto on it.

There are still some very big names left in this tournament and it is nearly impossible to pick a winner. It is nice to see Mike Sexton still left in and it would be great to see him reach the final table

It is good to see several notable players in the remaining field at the end of Day 2. I personally hope and wish Mike Sexton, who has 96,000 (10 big blinds) in chips, will somehow make the final table.

That first prize with the automatic seat in the next WPT Tour Of Champions is the sweetest part of the deal to be quite honest. The rest of the 300k is just the topping for the cake Big Smile Big Smile Big Smile
