Season 9 of PokerStars European Poker Tour will begin on Wednesday with the Festival of Poker in Barcelona. Besides the Main Event, the highlight on this stop will be the brand new Super High Roller event with a €48,500 + €1,500 buy-in. 37 players have pre-registered for this event so far, which means that at least a €1,794,500 prize pool will be up for grabs.

A few days ago, EPT crew announced that a "High Roller of the Year" award will be handed out at the EPT Awards in the end of the season. The honour will go to the player who racks up the most EPT Awards points in events with a buy-in of 10,000 ($ / € / £ ) or more. In total, there will be 16 events that qualify for the High Roller of the Year award.

yeah i'm in- i want pokerstars to create a "degenerated low roller" award, or something similar...lol here's another one: "best player who plays from borrowed money"...think sahamies would have no competition here...there are more and more high buy in tourneys popping up around the world

You all know there will be a dozen players running for this new award. There aren’t much more who enter alomst all of these 16 events, i guess, if the tendency keeps the same as it was throughout last years. If Daniel Negreanu makes nice in some of these events he might be qualifying to be the first to get this new award.

That gives the pros a bigger reason to really grind out a result and place well, could see people taking less risks if the title depends on hanging in before someone busts out that could beat them to it - that is if there's a prize for it.

Sounds pretty interesting but still think the carraibean poker tour is really the greatest Smile

Plus the high roller event there has a 100k dollars buy in, still Barcelona is a nice place for fun and all so i think it would be another EPT hit Blink
