2017 Aussie Millions: Little Interest In Super High Roller Events

It seems like the interest in playing poker events with big buy-ins in Australia isn't what it used to be. The 2017 Aussie Millions, conluding today, only saw 18 registrations for the A$100,000 Challenge which ultimately led to that the A$250,000 Challenge was cancelled.

Tournament staff at Crown Casino decided to add a A$50,000 buy-in no limit hold'em event to replace the A$250,000 challenge, but the event only attracted six players. Crown Casino claimed that the lack of recreational players were to blame for the low interest in playing the big events. In addition to few recreational players, many of the poker world's biggest names didn't show up, including three-time A$250,000 Challenge winner Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and Jason Mercier.

its quite far off the circuit. maybe if they had more stars/partyp events in this hemisphere it will be easier for the big names to turn up/high rollers

if this happens in Australia, it may be correct that there have banned online poker? if people are not interested in poker there is no need to impose it to them .. and those who are interested will find the way to his hobby

i doubt this has a lot to do with australia and the lack of interest in super high roller events being hosted there, probably there were some other tournaments on offer somewhere else, and they were juicier, had a bigger gtd prizepool or a bigger list of confirmed players, basically you can hold a great super mega roller tourney even in north korea if timing and organization is right.

I am pretty surprised that this event didn't attract more entries. These super high roller events are normally popular and i thought that there would have been a lot more participants

100,000 australian dollars but in is really big money, and they even wanted to run a tourney with 250,000 australian dollars buyin! I know there are people in world who can afford this, but not very big number. More and more organizers try these big buy in tournaments and now there is too many of them it seems.

its strange too see that is no more interest for this kind of tournament!even buy in is big, there are always players who can buy in and play for big!but this must be connected with rules of baning online poker in australia!
