Video: WPT Bellagio Cup VI: Moritz Kranich takes home the tournament

Posted on 16 July 2010 by "T".

It ended up being Phil Ivey, Justin "boostedJ" Smith and Moritz "Cattenatio" Kranich who were the 3 last players at the final table in World Poker Tour Bellagio Cup VI in Las Vegas. Phil Ivey doesn't need any presentation, but the other 2 might not be that familiar to many. Both Smith and Kranich have been extremely successful online and live in the past few years. For example Smith ended up 3rd in last year's Bellagio Cup and Kranich took home this year's EPT Deauville.

Anyhow, it came to be the german poker pro Kranich who took home the tournament after a long heads up against Justin Smith. For the win he received nothing less than $875,150. This is Moritz first WPT title.

Omaha is the future poker game?

Will Omaha become bigger than Texas Hold'em in the future? That is a question that many people have asked themselves in the past few years as the game just keep on getting more and more popular. So why is Omaha getting so popular? Well, there are probably many reasons for this. The number 1 reason is probably that the game is similar to Hold'em but still much more action filled! Another 2 reasons could be that many poker players are simply getting tired of playing the same old Texas Hold'em or/and because the competition is getting tougher and tougher every day.

Matias’ cards were 7[d] 8[c] while Neuville's were 10[s] J[h].

Luke Schwartz - "I don't regret anything!"

Posted on 21 October 2009 by "T".

The poker millionaire Luke Schwartz has been a big talk about lately after that he got banned 2-3 times in no time from all the casinos in the UK. However, the thing that most people associate Luke with, is when he took a sandwich and refused to pay for it. Now he speaks out about the incident that gave him the nickname "sandwichgate".

"I had just gone out of the tournament during Day 2 of EPT London. I was in a very bad mood at that time and there was a really long queue to pay for the food. There wasn't a chance in the world that I would wait that long just to pay for a sandwich."

He continues...

"I have paid around $1000 in rake just to play in the High Roller Event and EPT. Who cares about a sandwich for £5? It should be free!"

Luke Schwartz is aware that many people don't agree with him about this. But it's nothing he cares about.

"I have better things to do than to worry about what these retarded people think about me"

It was just thanks to some very late eliminations that everything went as planned. Among the 24 survivors we find some of the youngest and most successful players there are at the moment.

EPT: Millionaire refused to pay for his sandwich

Tags: ept, london, Luke __FullFlush1__ Schwartz, the vic casino

Luke "__FullFlush1__" Schwartz, is well known for being a great poker player who has won lots of money during his poker career. He's also known for another thing, and that is that he got banned from The Vic Casino in London after that he refused to take off his hat.

His friend, Eddie Hearn, is a very well known bookmaker and also a good friend of Luke. When Luke wanted to play EPT London at The Vic Casino, his friend Eddie Hearn of course wanted to help him out and therefore he decided to speak to the management. Eddie Hearn's talk with the management was successful and he managed to revoke Luke's ban. It seemed like the issue between The Vic management and Luke Schwartz finally was solved. But after that Luke got knocked out of EPT London during Day 2, he's once again banned.

EPT Kyiv: Vitaly Tolokonnika in the lead

Tags: ept, kyiv, pokerstars, Vitaly Tolokonnika
Posted on 21 August 2009 by "T".

Day 2 is now over. Only 69 out of 203 players made it through to Day 3 of the tournament. Among the 69 players that will play day 3 we still find a lot of PokerStars qualifiers that keeps on playing great poker. However, the current chip leader (371,100 chips) is Vitaly Tolokonnika from Russia. He has been playing some fantastic poker during Day 2 and one can only congratulate him, because he really deserves to be the chip leader. But he's not the only 1 that has been playing good...

Maxim Lykov (Russia), Jonas Kronwitter (Germany), and Kirill Boydachenko (Russia), are all closely behind Tolokonnika in chips. Overall the new tournament structure seems to have changed the game a lot, and thats probably why the most of the remaining players still have a decent stack. It will be very interesting to see if Day 3 will bring out the big chip leader that we have waited for, but I really doubt it.

The seventh season of the very popular European Tour has now started. The first stop was meant to be in Moscow, Russia. But a few weeks ago a new law was introduced in Russia which makes it illegal to organize live poker events in any part of the country. Due to this new law, the first tournament was moved to Kyiv in Ukraine.

Day 1a of the main event (€5000 buy-in) has already been played. The tournament attracted 129 players who received a fantastic welcome ceremony featuring a four-man drumming troupe and more than 50 Ukrainian folk dancers. PokerStars pros that played Day 1a were Alex Kravchenko and Luca Pagano. Kravchenko is through to day 2 with 45,450 in chips. Pagano got knocked out in the early stages of the tournament. A total of 93 players are through to Day 2, these many players made it through to day 2 because of the brand new EPT main event structure which gives each player a 30,000 starting stack. Chip leader after Day 1a is Mihaylo Demidenko from Ukraine with 145,125 chips.

In the middle of the spotlight Bertrand "ElkY" Grosspellier was sitting and playing online poker at PokerStars trying to break the world record for the number of SNGs played during an hour. In order to break the record he would have to end the session with a profit or the attempt would not count.Read more » "ElkY" Breaks World Record

Fredrik Nygard, a well known scammer? The chipleader in the EPT event in Prague, Fredrik Nygard, is a known hustler who currently lives in Sweden. A few months ago he went to a Swedish newspaper to tell the story about his life and he said he was doing this in order to warn other people about his scamming behaviour.

Fredrik Nygard has a long history of hustling people out of money and it started already at the age of 16 when he used to tell his parents that he needed money for school books when in fact he was gambling away all of his money. At the age of 16 he had already lost over €6000 on his gambling addiction.Read more » EPT Chipleader, Fredrik Nygard, a Swedish/Finish scammer

After two years of absence the EPT tournament in Deauville/France is back

The reason why the tournament hasn't been played for 2 years in Deauville is that the French legislation hasn't been so positive to the organization behind the tournament. Now, however the attitude has changed from the French legislation and the tournament is back for the first time since 2006.

The Main Event has a buy-in of $5300 and will be played between 20th-24th January 2009. And since they expect a lot of players this year the maximum participants is set to 700. The tournament will be the third largest in EPT season 5 and hopefully is here to stay.
