On Monday, poker veteran Billy "The Croc" Argyros was crowned the champion of the 2013 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Melbourne Main Event after five intensive days of play at the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, Australia. The Australian Hall of Famer bested a field of 309 entrants to secure the title and $134,500 - the second biggest live tournament cash of his career!
Apparently, Argyros received his nickname "The Croc" by poker legend Johnny Moss in a satellite event for the 1989 World Series of Poker. He introduced himself as "Crocodile Billy" (a reference to the popular Crocodile Dundee movies) when Moss asked who he was. Moss dubbed him "The Croc" and the name has been with him ever since that day.
