Mercier Wins WPT Alpha8 St. Kitts

The fact that Christmas is getting closer and closer doesn't mean that live poker tournaments are running slow at the moment. On Friday, on the second day of play, Jason Mercier had overcome a field of 11 players (+4 re-entries) to claim the title and $727,500 in the second annual $100,000 WPT Alpha8 St.Kitts.

The player field that Mercier was up against was small but very tough (Oliver Busquet, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Colman etc.). In addition, it was nice to finally see a women taking part in an Alpha8! Kathy Lehne, founder and CEO of Sun Coast Resources Inc. - a company with more than 1,600 employees, made it all the way to heads-up and collected $436,500! Let's hope that her 2nd place finish encourages more ladies to play Alpha8 events!

The next WPT Alpha8 will take place 18-20 December in Las Vegas. A much greater field of players are likely to show up then!

Many congratulations to Jason Mercier on taking down this prestigious title and the first prize of $727,500. Not many players but, everyone who played, were all great players

Yeah, sure. Go gurlz. You can do it. We need to give other CEOs money too.

Daniel Colman was the day’s first victim, losing his final pot to Mercier on a bad beat. Colman got his last 23 big blinds into the pot with his AdKs dominating Mercier’s AcQc. The poker gods have been kind to Colman in 2014, but this time would turn out differently. The Qs6h4h flop left him drawing dead to three outs or running straight cards, and the turn 9s and river 2d sealed his fate and set the final table of eight.

one of the most complete and cool players I've ever seen playing with an odd competition and a sharp game and a monster of the poker game and you know a lot, so you're always stuck with them
