The fact that Christmas is getting closer and closer doesn't mean that live poker tournaments are running slow at the moment. On Friday, on the second day of play, Jason Mercier had overcome a field of 11 players (+4 re-entries) to claim the title and $727,500 in the second annual $100,000 WPT Alpha8 St.Kitts.
World Poker Tour Alpha8, a series of high-stakes tournaments (with buy-ins starting at $100,000 per event!) played at some of the most exclusive resorts in the world, will premier on Sunday on Fox Sports 1! In total, four Alpha8 tournament have been played to date, including the first stop in Florida in August last year that saw 18 players (3 rebuys were made) battle it out for a $2 million prize pool!
FOX Sports 1 will broadcast the first ever episode of the World Poker Tour Alpha8, televised high-stakes poker tournaments held at the most prestigious gaming resorts in the world, on Sunday, March 16 at 10 pm ET. First out is the WPT Alpha8 Florida event that was played at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, last year. The event attracted 21 entries ($100,000 buy-in) and the winner took home a first place prize of $891,660!

It's not only in Paris that poker stars are battling it out for some serious cash. On Monday, the 2013 World Poker Tour Alpha8 kicked off in London at the luxurious Palm Beach on Mayfair venue. The £100,000 buy-in tournament attracted 10 players spread across two tables at the beginning of Day 1 and ended with 19 entries.
World Poker Tour Alpha8 is a brand new series of high-stakes, televised poker tournaments held at the most exclusive resorts around the globe, including stops in North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa. The minimum buy-in starts at an insane $100,000 and the first tournament is scheduled for August 26-27, 2013 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. All WPT Alpha8 tournaments will feature an eight-player final table that will be broadcasted on the new FS1 network starting 10pm EST on Sunday, March 16, 2014.
