Welcome mobsters, if you are reading this blog for the very first time, I thank you for your initial interest. I think that if you give it a little time, you will find something that will peak your interest.

I am a semi-pro poker player and an author. I am currently working on several projects for publication, and will be discussing them on occasion in this blog. If you are a fan then I warn you, from time to time there will be spoiler book ideas discussed.

Section 1: Poker Tips & Concepts
STOP! Playing care bear poker. Poker is a game of WAR!
Yes, that IS what I said.

Poker is a game in which players sit down at a table with their hard earned money and try to win money from other players. The entire purpose is to win the other guys money from him. Every time you play you are risking your own cash. For the love of God STOP! Thinking of placing nice, or being nice and not taking everything you can from another player.

The other guy is not playing against you to try and be your friend, he wants to win your money and walk away at the end of the day with it in his pocket. If you do not attempt to extract every dollar or chip that you can, because you want to be nice to some other player, then you are playing the fool. Playing in such a fashion is costing you money, and it is a leak you should want to fix.

I am often seen as a very nice friendly player when I play poker. It is all meant to mislead my opponents into thinking that I do not really take the game very seriously, that like them I am only playing poker to have a good time and relax, just like most of them are. Yes, we play for money, but it is the not what is most important, It is the social comradery we truly care about and playing poker is just secondary.

If you think for even one minute that all poker players fell like this then I want you at my table. I will play nice and be pleasant towards you the entire time we play our friendly game of cards together and part as friends. I will genuinely tell you I look forward to playing of game together next time and will again be a very nice guy towards everyone at our next game too.

I most often will be the winning player at the end of the night in this type of sitting.

Poker is a war played with cards and money. I play to win and if you do not keep that in mind then you are my favor type of sheep to fleece. I will gladly fleece you over and over again because you and others like you pay my bills.

You would do well to remember this moment of honesty I am giving you. Professional poker players are very competitive people by nature and the hate to lose. Poker is a business and the treat it as such, when a pro or semipro poker player goes to war the fight to win. Even the nice guys like Daniel Negreanu or myself.
Until next time

Section 2: "Ronin's Bankroll Management Challenge"
Well this section is going to be familiar to the forum regulars as I have been running this section for awhile in the forums, It is about the single most important skill a poker player must have in their arsenal in order to be a successful winning player.

Bankroll Management has been estimated to be the single most neglected poker skill by almost 95% of all players. Countless books have been written on the subject, and yet most players most often just ignore the rules of proper bankroll management.

I too fall into this trap at times.
This section is intended to show how proper bankroll management can ensure that and good poker player who approaches his bankroll and poker play from a solid and disciplined position can succeed.
It also is intended to help me to remain focus and discipline in my own bankroll quest to succeed.
Update time: G'day mates

the new plan is a simple one.

The challenge will run for 8 weeks, Monday - Friday.
I am going to try to play 1000-2000 hands a day.

Going to try and maintain a minimum buy in level of 40 buy ins for whatever current base level I am playing on at any given time.

I will take a two table shot at moving up in stakes whenever I have my 40 buy in's + 4 buying for the next higher level. During the shot upward move I will only play two table maximum and will have the auto rebuy feature turned off. If I lose the 2 attempted buy in then I go back to playing the lower limit until I once again build back up to at least 40 + 4 buy in's again then repeat.

Once I have 40 full buy in's for the new upper level it will become my new base line level.

Yes I will also play so small Mtt's but the buy ins will be a 1-5 ratio. That means with a $100 bankroll I can play in a $1 buy in tournament with a $5 stop lose in place, so I will allow myself to lose no more than 5% of my total bankroll on any given day of play in Mtt's.

Hope this explains things well enough for you mate.
Best wishes.
Be cool

Ronin
Until later mates.

Section 3: The daily rant
Ever notice how people just naturally seem to assume that if they are awake everyone in the damned world must be awake too. I just received a phone call from a women, it was to inform me that another women would not be keeping her appointment with me today at 3pm. It is currently 7:50am locally.

I would not even think about calling a person's private home before 10am unless I was 100% certain they would be up before such a time. There are many people like myself who have no regular sleep schedule for whatever reason and like to be allowed to rest whenever we actually can do so.

I am a chronic insomniac and therefore really hate to be woken up if I actual do find it possible to find sleep. Having gone to sleep at 4 am and then getting back up at 7am for a washroom run is bad enough but then after having gone back to bed to be awakened at 7:50 am by a ringing phone totally ticked me off. Now it is 9:05 am and I am still up yawning and blogging to ticked off to sleep and yet too tired to function well enough to play winning poker.

I'm just saying.
Well until next time, be cool.

I never play against friends for money in anything. I would rather stay friends than try to win money of them because this can only lead to a very strained friendship and i would rather avoid that

You are right and I also almost never play against family or friends.
I am very surprised this one has not sparked more conversation.
I was honestly trying to get a debate going on this one.
best wishes to you
be cool

I wonder how can somebody play nice...How is that even possible?

I always feel the will to take the money and take as much as possible.
