Posted by Heskor: will get into a lot of hassle and he will need to explain how he got that lots of money |
Explain to whom? In Russia it can be sorted out without hassle. If he doesn't make something stupid.
Posted by Heskor: i am sure there will be lots of cash tied in tax |
Income tax in Russia is 13 %. There will be a lot left after taxes. And that if he decides to pay them at all.

It's always too good to be true. I don't envy anything from these russian players, they are earning hard every goddamn cent they've gotten with masterful donking, superintelligent reading abilities, with a calling range so wide a whale could be pushed through it and a wonderful resistance to vodka, antifreeze and any alcohol related products. They are really Putin's little helpers by stripping down 'The Decadent West' from all of their money and resources by playing a game where everybody likes to loose. Perfect in every way.

...That would probably be a VERY good choice as long as you invested in things like land or real estate while prices are down...! Buy low,...sell high! ...or just set yourself up for life...!
Warren Buffet,...3rd in line behind Bill Gates,...says do the opposite of what everybody else does. When there's lots of money around and everybodys running to buy stuff up,...stay away..!

poker stars is probably not so secretly funded by us - people who put in the site more money than they take out. I think that gambling sites (and poker sites if like me you don't consider it as gambling because it's a skill game and not a luck game) are way too profitable to need to be secretly funded.

To all those who think that Russians win ALL THE TIME and EVERYTHING on Poker Stars. I am a member of the largest Russian poker forum as well. Believe it or not, users on that site are pretty sure that players from other countries win ALL THE TIME and EVERYTHING on Poker Stars but not Russians. In fact, they think that the sole purpose of Poker Stars existence is to ruin Russian players. And they complain about your countries in exactly the same manner as you about Russia: collusion, bad table manners, hatred toward other nations and so on...
Can't give you a link to the poker site, because it also offers NDBs and promotions but if you try you'll figure out.
As for the winning ratio - I think it is easy to check, if someone has enough time. Say, make a list of the last 50 Sunday Million tourney participants (or any other regular tourney). Calculate the total representation by countries. Then take a list of the winners of these tourneys by countries (or those who cashed). Divide one by another to get a winning ratio of each country. Even this small sample will show that Russia is probably not the most victorious country on Poker Stars.

I really don't care about russians at all, but you don't need to rush 4 defend them since one way or another we all ran into russians on Stars and they usually playing like theres no tomorrow. If we are aiming to cherrypick probably would find that all of the countries have their share of maniac players but I do not remember when brasilians or peruvians make questionable moves on me at the tables, only when a russian does. 'cuz you will never forget all those ridiculous hands.

Sunday Million & Russia that is a wicked way to make an example Since russia isnt rly a rich country and sunday million is one of the most expensive turneys on PS.
Ussualy at cheaper buy in turney tables there are 5+ russians out of 9 players so thats where it is all coming from, u wont remember another country player win more often against you then a russian since it seem there are 50% russians on stars and 50% other countries.
Checked minimum wage stats of 2012: Minimum wage in russia in 2012 is just 77 eur... (sunday million, yea right check the 100k rather than that. or up to 1$ buy ins
imo has nothing to do with + or - luck based on country, its just the amount of people of one country that make up for the "always" russian winner ...

I am Russian, therefore I see it as my solemn duty to jump into every thread which has "Russia(n)" in its title to defend my compatriots.

Are you aware how large is the share of those (including Russians), who crawl into this tourney via cheap satellites?
Posted by jsikonja: Sunday Million & Russia that is a wicked way to make an example |
Anyway, I've made an addition for this purpose - "or any other regular tourney". I mentioned Sunday Million only because it is easier to track.

Oh, come on... You can't base your judgement on this statistical bs. The minimum wage is attributed to rural dwellers which live by land. They don't play on Poker Stars. They don't have internet, as a matter of fact. Those who play on Poker Stars, live in the cities and earn much more than that. I don't know a single person around who makes as little as 77 EUR per month. My 10-year old son makes more selling his old toys and stuff on the internet auction.

Ppl need someone to blame for the bad luck so they turn to russian. They tend to forget russia has over 143700000 ppl. Whiners be whiners sometimes u just gotta dry your eyes and get over a bad beat. Pokers poker, no matter the country the rules are the same and theres donks everyweres.

i resonate with this russian rant from my own experience on 888. they call with everything, no matter stack, situation, position, prize pool etc. and they hit right when is least expected, transforming your 3hrs+ stack ashes to dust in one move, which seemed in your favor before dueling a russian noob. and this style is to be found at most of them. there must be a poker school like their driving school. no brakes, no fold, call everything.
i would love to see the entire spin and go match and see how million was won by a russian. guessing between traces of skill/luck or insane confidence/call everything will pick the second.

With that big of prize pool im sure if u youtube it it would be available to watch

ugh, now thats a decent RoI booster
seriously now, if i were to win a million one day , i would donate at least $30 to charity or some other good cause. heck me being myself (as in being so generous and awesome), it would probably be closer to $40 even.
btw it had to be a russian guy winning it eh

jsikonja | 17/01/2015 09:03:16 GMT |
Well Russian or not, i am happy for him + the 2nd and 3rd prize were insanely awesome too, three minutes for 100.000$+, every gamblers dream. I think they were all like WOOOOOOOOOW when prize pool hit on them, started trembling with sparking eyes and yelled out YEAAAAAAH, FUCK YEAAAAAH calling whoever was next to them to watch...

bowie1984 | 17/01/2015 16:12:31 GMT |
100k or a million, both are indeed lifechanging pokermoney no question about it and if you set aside your preconception with russians you may as well happy that this amount didn't go to a semi-pro or someone who don't needs this at all. It's a great boost to someones bankroll and it's a great promotion as well, but I would say it wouldn't hurt if they just concentraing how to raise the average payout on a smaller spin&go instead giving a truckload of money away once a year.

I was just playing the sundy weekly round two on Ppokerstaars. This time it was pot limit Omaha high/low - that is what I really love. But I went out early loosing against a very loose russian big stack. The russians always beat me.

There are now 3 winners of 1million $ on million dollar spin and go... damn!!!
|
Skpmorita | 19/01/2015 18:21:44 GMT |
it had to be Russian since most of the players are Russians i really hope that they won't make him suffer to get his prize the government will want a piece of that and pokerstars will find every possible reason not to pay him 100 K is also a life changing amount , so the losers are also winners

I agree with schmoyster in that Russians are the worst players. I actually love playing with Russians (including ex USSR) I really hate playing against Canadians and South Americans - they are the ones that do the fucked up moves - but every country I agree has there moments....even I shove all in behind and win
