Russian Wins $1 million in $5 Spin & Go!

Tags: spin & go, sss66666.
Posted on 13 January 2015 by "T".

On Monday, the wheels stopped on a $1.2 million prize pool for the first time in Spin & Go history on PokerStars! The three handed $5 buy-in tournament lasted less than 15 minutes and Russia's "sss66666" ended up getting the biggest slice of the prize pool, 1,000,000 US dollars!

The other two players received $100,000 each, so they probably weren't that disappointed with what they had won in a small buy-in tournament. Check out the video below for more information.

I would hate to be the guy that came out second (or third). Probablly wouldn't be able to sleep for at least a week. Getting so close to a 1M$ prise and ending up with nothing is just heart breaking. Hope he didn't crash his computer frustrated.

They got $100k. Not bad, huh? Blink

yeah, but between 1M$ and 100k$ is a lot of diference... 1m is life changing money, 100k isnt that much life changing...

the best I could win this promo was $ 30, and I tired of trying to find a good prize, better still with long tournaments that give me better results

Sure there's a big difference, but $100K not being life changing? Not sure what you're thinking, but having an extra $100K would very well change my whole life in pretty much ALL aspects.. Big Smile

Hmm...
Missed that part. well for 5$ a 100k$ reward is still pretty nice. Although it's not 1M$ I would still be happy to get it.
When they introduce the spin 'n' go I checked the odds of getting each prise and If I wanted to chase lucky dreams I would hit the casino. I'm affraid they are trying to insert the casino into the poker rooms and I don't like that. Hope it will not get worse in the future
 klash2313/01/2015 14:05:54 GMT
That really is one hell of a lucky guy, just imagine spending just $5 and then realising you will be playing for $1 million! At least the players who finished second and third did receive a "consolation" prize of 100k so at all three players would have been quite happy with their $5 investment.
 LadyFloppy13/01/2015 14:09:17 GMT
I get tired of playing this promotion and did not get any good prize, I prefer to play head up and sit and go with fixed prizes and lower risk, this promo is made for giles
 Heskor13/01/2015 14:36:31 GMT
Wow huge win 1million, now he will have to cashout and we will get into a lot of hassle and he will need to explain how he got that lots of money and after tax i am sure there will be lots of cash tied in tax and so on, but still after all this hassle and when the money reach his bank then wow , well done , you are good for life, no need to play poker anymore just have fun on poker and invest in other stuffs!

The winner had played solely freerolls the days before... one of the runner ups played solely freerolls + MTTs up to $0.27.. Now out of the sudden this huge hit?
Also the winner is or at least was a multiaccounter (there's a nickname that has one 6 less than winners account who played the same freerolls as him a few times, but the account is locked)...
Sorry but this is the first time I don't believe this is all real...
Congrats though if it is.

If this guy was a multiaccounter for real i wonder why he is still with Pokerstars i think that a guy like that should be banned from the site. I just dont understand Question Question Question

Maybe they'll ban him. Who knows?

Those spin'n'goes are weird for me. I don't think they're random. When I tried to play $1 buy-in Spn&G, almost everytime prize pool was the same (minimal). I don't think it's random.

Today dollar in the Russia costs almost 2 times more, than in previous years. If he will withdraw them and convert into the roubles he'd become very rich Dollar

 klash2313/01/2015 15:32:01 GMT
Only just read the post by BeMyATM,if the winner was in fact a multi accounter would this mean that the prize would be withheld?
Surely Pokerstars are going to investigate and do as much due diligence as is possible before they pay out a million dollars? That would be one hell of a blow to have won $1m and then have it taken away because you wanted to play a few extra freerolls. Smile

...I think if he bought $1 million US dollars worth of a currency that has basically crashed (rubles) due to Western sanctions, it could go one of 2 ways....:

1) Putin will not relent, the ruble will not recover, and buddy would lose a large percentage of his money...

OR

2) He will turn lead into gold by buying a million dollars worth of a worthless currency, and if it rebounds he would stand to nearly DOUBLE his winnings by gambling on the vunerable ruble...!

BUT

...if I understand correctly,...if the guy has multiple accounts and gets banned and his winnings revoked,...then I guess he'll be crying in his borscht... Confused

Dollar's price is going down now. I heard Russia wouldn't sell some products for dollars in the future to some countries. Also, they doing something with China and other pro-Russian countries.

If it was me, I would buy roubles and then buy the gold and estate with them.

Why do it always have to be russians. Always when someone is winning something big you can bet that he is a russian. Also I am seeing so many russians at the tables. How many of them are playing Poker? 100 per cent?
 damosk13/01/2015 22:16:17 GMT
Ok.. Let's ask ourselves. Does it matter the nationality of the winner of this first million spin and win winner? On the other hand, on the basis of probability, it could be argued that it was probably bound to be a Russian player....so let's rejoice that such a prize does exist and has been won!

Figures a Russian would get it, however not a bad prize for 5 bucks. Just imagine playing that spin and go and see the 1 Million dollar come up! That would be insanely awesome.

Ahh well, wont happen to me so will not dwell on it!

Dam I wanted to be the first to say it. Typical that a Russian won it....although I am partly surprised it wasn't a German. Not surprised it wasn't a brit, lots play but few scores that we hear about..
 TheAudiogod14/01/2015 04:12:37 GMT
geeze what a shock that a russian won it. Russians are nothing but dirty cheating donkeys. Joker stars pays all of them with dumb BS, just another typical bunch of crap from poker stars. I wish I knew the secret to how they cheat so much.
 Robbo199014/01/2015 04:47:50 GMT
maybe the secret is that they don't actually cheat?

i am sure there will be lots of cash tied in tax

Income tax in Russia is 13 %. There will be a lot left after taxes. And that if he decides to pay them at all.

It's always too good to be true. I don't envy anything from these russian players, they are earning hard every goddamn cent they've gotten with masterful donking, superintelligent reading abilities, with a calling range so wide a whale could be pushed through it and a wonderful resistance to vodka, antifreeze and any alcohol related products. They are really Putin's little helpers by stripping down 'The Decadent West' from all of their money and resources by playing a game where everybody likes to loose. Perfect in every way.

...That would probably be a VERY good choice as long as you invested in things like land or real estate while prices are down...! Buy low,...sell high! ...or just set yourself up for life...!

Warren Buffet,...3rd in line behind Bill Gates,...says do the opposite of what everybody else does. When there's lots of money around and everybodys running to buy stuff up,...stay away..! Smile Thumbs Up Dollar

That's quite the payout for Dollar 5 and fast as well only took 10 minutes i will give one of these Dollar 5 spin and go later tonight won a ticket via a free roll Sat and combine it with the daily challenge but i don't think another big one will be hit anytime soon GL Big Smile Cool Blink

poker stars is probably not so secretly funded by us - people who put in the site more money than they take out. I think that gambling sites (and poker sites if like me you don't consider it as gambling because it's a skill game and not a luck game) are way too profitable to need to be secretly funded.
 schmoyster16/01/2015 07:05:41 GMT
To all those who think that Russians win ALL THE TIME and EVERYTHING on Poker Stars.
I am a member of the largest Russian poker forum as well. Believe it or not, users on that site are pretty sure that players from other countries win ALL THE TIME and EVERYTHING on Poker Stars but not Russians. In fact, they think that the sole purpose of Poker Stars existence is to ruin Russian players. And they complain about your countries in exactly the same manner as you about Russia: collusion, bad table manners, hatred toward other nations and so on... Smile

Can't give you a link to the poker site, because it also offers NDBs and promotions but if you try you'll figure out.

As for the winning ratio - I think it is easy to check, if someone has enough time.
Say, make a list of the last 50 Sunday Million tourney participants (or any other regular tourney). Calculate the total representation by countries. Then take a list of the winners of these tourneys by countries (or those who cashed). Divide one by another to get a winning ratio of each country.
Even this small sample will show that Russia is probably not the most victorious country on Poker Stars.
 bowie198416/01/2015 15:41:14 GMT
I really don't care about russians at all, but you don't need to rush 4 defend them since one way or another we all ran into russians on Stars and they usually playing like theres no tomorrow. If we are aiming to cherrypick probably would find that all of the countries have their share of maniac players but I do not remember when brasilians or peruvians make questionable moves on me at the tables, only when a russian does. 'cuz you will never forget all those ridiculous hands.
 jsikonja16/01/2015 16:43:48 GMT
Sunday Million & Russia that is a wicked way to make an example Big Smile Since russia isnt rly a rich country and sunday million is one of the most expensive turneys on PS.

Ussualy at cheaper buy in turney tables there are 5+ russians out of 9 players so thats where it is all coming from, u wont remember another country player win more often against you then a russian since it seem there are 50% russians on stars Smile and 50% other countries.

Checked minimum wage stats of 2012: Minimum wage in russia in 2012 is just 77 eur... (sunday million, yea right Big Smile check the 100k rather than that. or up to 1$ buy ins Smile

imo has nothing to do with + or - luck based on country, its just the amount of people of one country that make up for the "always" russian winner ...

Anyway, I've made an addition for this purpose - "or any other regular tourney". I mentioned Sunday Million only because it is easier to track.

Oh, come on... You can't base your judgement on this statistical bs. The minimum wage is attributed to rural dwellers which live by land. They don't play on Poker Stars. They don't have internet, as a matter of fact. Those who play on Poker Stars, live in the cities and earn much more than that. I don't know a single person around who makes as little as 77 EUR per month. My 10-year old son makes more selling his old toys and stuff on the internet auction.
 arsenej116/01/2015 19:33:17 GMT
Ppl need someone to blame for the bad luck so they turn to russian. They tend to forget russia has over 143700000 ppl. Whiners be whiners sometimes u just gotta dry your eyes and get over a bad beat. Pokers poker, no matter the country the rules are the same and theres donks everyweres.

 ouThhiTus16/01/2015 20:33:40 GMT
i resonate with this russian rant from my own experience on 888. they call with everything, no matter stack, situation, position, prize pool etc. and they hit right when is least expected, transforming your 3hrs+ stack ashes to dust in one move, which seemed in your favor before dueling a russian noob. and this style is to be found at most of them. there must be a poker school like their driving school. no brakes, no fold, call everything.

i would love to see the entire spin and go match and see how million was won by a russian. guessing between traces of skill/luck or insane confidence/call everything will pick the second.
 arsenej116/01/2015 20:40:54 GMT
With that big of prize pool im sure if u youtube it it would be available to watch
 Theapple17/01/2015 08:23:27 GMT
ugh, now thats a decent RoI booster Big Smile

seriously now, if i were to win a million one day , i would donate at least $30 to charity or some other good cause. heck me being myself (as in being so generous and awesome), it would probably be closer to $40 even.

btw it had to be a russian guy winning it eh Cool
 jsikonja17/01/2015 09:03:16 GMT
Well Russian or not, i am happy for him + the 2nd and 3rd prize were insanely awesome too, three minutes for 100.000$+, every gamblers dream. I think they were all like WOOOOOOOOOW when prize pool hit on them, started trembling with sparking eyes and yelled out YEAAAAAAH, FUCK YEAAAAAH calling whoever was next to them to watch... Smile
 bowie198417/01/2015 16:12:31 GMT
100k or a million, both are indeed lifechanging pokermoney no question about it and if you set aside your preconception with russians you may as well happy that this amount didn't go to a semi-pro or someone who don't needs this at all. It's a great boost to someones bankroll and it's a great promotion as well, but I would say it wouldn't hurt if they just concentraing how to raise the average payout on a smaller spin&go instead giving a truckload of money away once a year.
 StS518/01/2015 19:28:13 GMT
I was just playing the sundy weekly round two on Ppokerstaars. This time it was pot limit Omaha high/low - that is what I really love. But I went out early loosing against a very loose russian big stack. The russians always beat me.
 StheP19/01/2015 18:12:29 GMT
There are now 3 winners of 1million $ on million dollar spin and go... damn!!!
 Skpmorita19/01/2015 18:21:44 GMT
it had to be Russian
since most of the players are Russians
i really hope that they won't make him suffer to get his prize
the government will want a piece of that and pokerstars will find every possible reason not to pay him
100 K is also a life changing amount , so the losers are also winners
 Robbo199020/01/2015 10:24:35 GMT
I agree with schmoyster in that Russians are the worst players. I actually love playing with Russians (including ex USSR) I really hate playing against Canadians and South Americans - they are the ones that do the fucked up moves - but every country I agree has there moments....even I shove all in behind and win
