Many poker fans and players were quite shocked as partypoker was crowned Poker Operator of the Year at the EGR Operator Awards ceremony held in London last Thursday, October 26. With this triumphant win, partypoker has finally unseated PokerStars, the biggest online poker site in the world, which won the particular award consecutively in the past three years.

Managing Director of partypoker, Tom Waters, said: "We are delighted that partypoker was voted poker operator of the year at the EGR awards last night. partypoker has been transformed from a declining brand to a poker site that is now delivering a real challenge to the global poker market. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the partypoker team over the last year and hopefully this is just the beginning."

partypoker's owner GVC Holdings, was also able to snag the award for Casino Operator of the Year.

The acknowledgment is a result of GVC's year-long effort to rebrand partypoker. They have made a series of clever moves that helped propel themselves to the road of success: the creation of the partypoker LIVE and MILLIONS brands, the signing of John Duthie, the signing of Mike Sexton, and the signing of Fedor Holz.

Mike Sextonpartypoker welcomed Poker Hall of Famer and legendary broadcaster Mike Sexton to become their Chairman when they debuted in 2001. To take on his new role, Sexton retired from his role as the WPT's lead announcer. Like he did in the WPT for many years, Sexton went all-in and dedicated himself to growing partypoker. A poker icon himself on and off the felt, Sexton recruited many of the industry's best players to represent partypoker, and one of them is Fedor Holz.

Fedor Holz, age 24, is of German lineage with over $26 million in lifetime live tournament wins. Under his online moniker "CrownUpGuy", he's also won millions. His recent signing at partypoker as a partner has attracted a lot of the type of fans that the company is trying to reach.

Not only that, Team partypoker has built up its roster with notable celebrities such as tennis legend Boris Becker, the colorful Marcel Luske, and poker crushers such as Johnny Lodden, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Kristen Bicknell, and Sam Trickett.

Of course, partypoker and GVC Holdings were not the only big winners at EGR Operator Awards ceremony that Thursday. Up to 29 awards were given out to casino operators.

The Stars Group, parent company of PokerStars, did not go home empty handed. They've won two awards, one for Best Marketing Campaign, and the other one for Mobile Poker Product.

The biggest winner was Sky Betting and Gaming, taking home four awards, namely In-Play Sports Operator, Football Betting Operator, Sports Betting Operator, and Mobile Operator. Sky Betting is a company in the UK founded in 2003 that owns popular gambling sites Sky Bet, Sky Bingo, Sky Vegas, and many more.

Many congratulations to Party Poker on winning this very prestigious award. I have been a member of Party Poker for well over a decade and i have always enjoyed using their site

That´s nice to read, that a other poker room like Stars have won this Award for the "Poker Operator of the Year". I think this wa ok, because poker rooms like Party or 888 have a lot of nice promos in the last time and the software was ok.

I guess Stars has unseated themselfes with their business practice in the last years. Never heard of planned boycotts by players at Party or 888. And so many independent rooms are not left. So it is basically a match between Stars, Party and 888.

I just hope more and more poker players leave pokerstars... Atleast untill they stop taking players for granted. It's almost like they could say "We are stealing your money" and most of their player base would not care. Sadely that's the world we live in. Greedy companies and a lot of "don't know don't care" consumers to take advantage of. If only people were smarter with their own money, companies would have to give us better deals.

I think party poker deserves this prize. They have many good things and lately promotions and spectacular moves have made them win this prize. From my point of view pokerstars do not deserve this prize. They destroyed many good things and their software is much worse. Good Job Party Poker.

ah well, I wanna piss on those awards, who the fcuk cares- if you lick the anus of the award organizers I think you are in a really sweet position to take home the main prize along with some of remaining fecal matters... oh right oh right- back to the matter- partypoker really does look more user friendly now, and they do have sweeter promos than stars atm, a bunch of celebs who's presence I still do not understand... anyway grazt party.

PartyPoker continues its "campaign" to topple PokerStars from the poker Olympus. Literally at the end of last week at the annual EGR Operator Awards, the "party" rode the "stars" and became the best poker room of the year, and next year the rums will begin a full-fledged competition for domination in the offline poker market.

I like to hear that party poker is the best roo , i player on pokerstars for long time but in year or two they become not so good, promotions are better at party poker and only thing that i still like about pokerstars is the number of players, but I hope that more and more players will move to larty poker and this situation eill be better too.

Not a surprise there. They seem to be doing good lately.
They keep having good promotions, giving away lots of free money.
This attracts also many players.
And according to all the post here, they seem to be better when it comes to
site performance. They sued to have one technical problem after another at some point.

My most sincere congratulations go out to partypoker on being awarded the Poker Operator of the Year! partypoker has been doing a great job lately. I think their promotional offers are one of the best in the online poker industry.

I cant say much about this reward and who is better, party poker or poker stars, because I dont play much poker in last months, except freerolls and free tickets, but I see that lot of people complaining about poker stars and that they are not good as before,so maybe this reward is really in good hands!

You have the absolute right about these poker rooms Pokerstars. My last deposit there was in the year 2012 or 2013. I had no confidence at all. I lost many important hands played dubiously by the players. I had very good hands on the flop and rivals nothing. When i was all in they call with a small pair or nothing and turn or rive rthey destroying me. The thing is that it was not in the game start but in advanced phases with 27-45 players of a few thousand. Strange way to risk everything after 5-6 hours of game.

I do not quite understand why the poker room was pricked this year !!!!! ..... they certainly recently made small changes in the client interface and conduct various actions but for example 888 does about the same ... in my opinion 888 more deserved this award
 Mober03/11/2017 22:05:32 GMT
For sure you could here more this year about party poker, than full tilt or pokesrstars, in here.
That says something.
There are lot that have moved out from playing in poker stars,
and the big alternatives are party poker and 888poker.
So it would have been one or another Smile

PartyPoker is a good site and well deserves this award in my humblest of opinions. They have made a number of changes and there isn’t something on offer for everyone, and I don’t recall the last time the had a huge amount of security breach downtime either so all I said looking good...apart from the recent collusion issue...which appears now sorted!
 sirkosun04/11/2017 10:28:55 GMT
Anyway! we waited for a worthy competitor to PokerStars. Recently, the partypoker began to regain its popularity. I think it was a wise decision, and this partypoker victory will go in favor of poker as a whole. And I hope that in the future, other poker operators will create even more competition.

I hope the time will come when this 888 poker room will win the prize for Poker Operator of the Year Award but at this moment Party Poker deserves this. They did a lot of good things and this has been seen. I'm glad for them and i hope they will continue in the future with good decisions for players.

Congratulations also to Sky Betting and Gaming on winning four awards at the ceremony. Sky Betting and Gaming has been continuously evolving since its foundation in 2003. Their aggressive investment strategy proved to be effective and profitable.
