WPT's recent hosting of online events was done due to restrictions to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Despite most parts of the world easing lockdown restrictions and returning to almost normal activities, long-distance travel and large-scale gatherings are still mostly prohibited.
Thanks to the smashing success of the recent WPT World Online Championships, the tournament operator is becoming more intent on reaching into the local markets. WPT Asia Online is made specifically for players based in these countries:
Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lebanon, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, Uzbekistan or Vietnam.

Eight Iconic WPT Destinations
Players have a lot to look forward to this special online series with eight iconic virtual WPT destinations: WPT Vietnam, WPT Korea, WPT Philippines, WPT Taiwan, WPT Cambodia, WPT Japan, WPT Macau, and the WPT Asia Main Event.
While the events will be held virtually, organizers made sure that their events stay true to WPT's live roots. There will be themed multi-table tournaments (MTTs) with buy-ins corresponding to the host country's currency, as shown below:
