The latest member of the Poker Hall of Fame shall be announced on July 14.
As the 55th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) is currently ongoing, the nominations for the 2024 Poker Hall of Fame are now open.
Poker players and fans can nominate for their favorite poker personality at WSOP.com/PHOF to become the 2024 Poker Hall of Fame inductee.
Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, said:
"With the poker world losing original participants of the 1970 WSOP in the last two years, it's more important than ever to celebrate the history of the game. The Poker Hall of Fame is meant to make sure legends who paved the way for today's record-setting fields are never forgotten, and we thank poker fans for their help putting forth worthy candidates during the nomination process."
Nominations will stay open until Sunday, June 16 when all submissions are tabulated and the top 10 nominations are reviewed by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council. That list will then be sent to the existing Poker Hall of Fame members to cast their votes to determine the 2024 member.
Unlike in the past years, there is no mention of select members of the poker media being allowed to vote. The name of the 2024 inductee will be revealed on Sunday, July 14. The inductee will receive a plaque to be displayed at the World Series of Poker Hall of Fame Poker Room, which opened at Horseshoe Las Vegas in 2023.
The main criteria for the Poker Hall of Fame are as follows:
- A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
- Played for high stakes
- Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination
- Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
- Stood the test of time
- Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.
Who do you think will become the Poker Fall of Fame inductee this 2024?
