Patrik Antonius inducted into 2024 Poker Hall of Fame

Posted on 17 July 2024 by "T".

On Sunday night, the highly anticipated Poker Hall of Fame ceremony was held in tandem with the Poker Hall of Fame Bounty Tournament at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

On July 14, the WSOP proudly announced the induction of their 63rd member - poker pro Patrik Antonius - into the Poker Hall of Fame.

Antonius was one out of the 10 nominees selected by the 32 living members of Poker Hall of Fame. The other nominees were Barny Boatman, Bill Smith, Isai Scheinberg, Josh Arieh, John Cernuto, Kathy Liebert, Matt Savage, Mike Matusow, and Ted Forrest.

Patrik Antonius, from Helsinki, Finland, is one of the most successful European poker players, ranking 36th all-time in career earnings with $22,995,774 to date. In 2023, Antonius made history by winning a $1,978,000 cash game pot, the biggest ever on a US livestream broadcast. Antonius edged "Miami" John Cernuto and Isai Scheinberg in the voting to secure his 2024 nomination.

Executive Director of the WSOP Ty Stewart said:
"In the modern era of poker, few have been as bold and fearless as Patrik Antonius. A force both online and live, we're thrilled to see Patrik's high-stakes career acknowledged by legends who have added the first international player to the Poker Hall of Fame in a number of years."

In his PHoF induction ceremony, Antonius was joined by his family, friends and fans inside the Paris Ballroom at Paris Las Vegas before delivering the ceremonial "Shuffle Up and Deal" for Event #95, the annual $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold'em.

After the induction ceremony, the WSOP unveiled Antonius' photo at the Hall of Fame Poker Room inside Horseshoe Las Vegas. Just opened in July 2023, the room features the first-of-its-kind Poker Hall of Fame exhibit acknowledging poker's most legendary players with a Gallery of Champions, WSOP bracelets and rings.

To be considered as a nominee for the PHOF, a player should be at least 40 years old, played for high stakes, has played poker against top competition, and played well enough to stand the test of time and has earned the respect and admiration of their peers. Non-players should have contributed to the overall progress and growth of the game, with unforgettable positive and long-lasting results.

lot of people expected that somebody else would get this place in hall of game, especially if we know that patrik is still young, he will have in december 44 years, so they could wait with him! but ofcourse congratulations on this success, probably this mean a lot to him! now till next year we have lot of time to see who will take another place in hall of fame!

He really deserves this honourable recognition of his poker achievements and his contribution to the growth of the game all these years . He is one of the best undoubtedly . Very successful ambassador of the game , very skilled , the best of the ten in the lost imo . Again congratulations.

What can we say about this great player, he has always been playing poker for several years, always giving the best show for those who watch him, millions of dollars in winnings, now, Patrik Antonius enters the Poker Hall of Fame in 2024.

Very young, but still deserve it!

I think he hasn't won any wsop bracelet at least not yet if I am not mistaken . Not that this matters . I think other well known high stakes players have not won any bracelets in their career . Tom Dwan for example . And some others .

I remember Patrik Antonius on "Poker After Dark" with his exceptional skills and incredible ability to read opponents. He, along with other great players, helped drive the poker boom in the 2000s. Interestingly, despite his success and recognition, Antonius still doesn't have a WSOP bracelet.

He is well known in poker, he is always playing at very large cash bets, he is one of the players who has won the most playing cash online and live, he is also involved in the biggest jackpots in history, for all that Patrik Antonius enters the Poker Hall of Fame in 2024

Patrik Antonius is a very good player, but he has no wsop bracelets and no world poker tour titles. He is a player who has to win something like this , to strengthen this award he won in Poker Hall of Fame.

very good for this poker player who is a legend, who would think that an injury playing his favorite sport which is tennis led this player to become interested in cards, and I think he made the best decision, he has been playing for many years at high level.

Yeah he is a legend . Personally I was watching al ost every poker show with him in the past . His poker face was great . And his decisions at the tables Vs great other players . Nowadays I don't watch so much poker videos or shows , and most of them I think they are on pay sites like poker go . Well I wouldn't go so far to pay to watch other poker players play and win . It's not like netflix or Amazon movie apps , where by all means I pay .

Anyway , congrats to him
I LL search the YouTube to see if there are any recent videos of him to watch (for free lol )
 dule-vu23/07/2024 13:55:42 GMT
Maybe he will play even better after this!
 geseco1226/07/2024 00:38:19 GMT
He is a poker legend, he is always playing the best live cash games, he travels all over the world and always plays at a high level, he deserves this recognition, this legend is still valid, his story is one of improvement, thanks to many today They know and play poker.
 dule-vu26/07/2024 01:07:24 GMT
Yeah, like you said it!
 geseco1227/07/2024 02:23:05 GMT
This player is of a high level, he is always playing poker in exclusive places, in Macau is where we can see him most often playing cash with high level people, it is well deserved that he has entered the hall of fame.
