The world of poker gets the full BBC documentary treatment thanks to a new film called The Four Rules of the Poker Kings.
BBC Scotland released a documentary program "The Four Rules of the Poker Kings". It puts Scottish poker pro Niall Farrell (along with poker pro David Docherty) in the spotlight as he hit the poker circuit for tournaments around the world.
Niall Farrell, who goes by the moniker ‘Firaldo', sits on the top seat of Scotland's all-time money leaderboard with $6.9 million in live tournament earnings. He has won at the World Series of Poker Europe, World Poker Tour, and many other series.
Poker Journey
The BBC program features his poker life, including the highs and lows of the tournament journey after taking some time off so he can start a family with his partner.
"Back on the road and on the tables, Niall is allowing the cameras to follow him for a year as he travels the globe to play in tournaments - but does he still have what it takes to win? Can he earn enough for both himself and his family? Can he once again be crowned a poker king or will he become just another poker loser?", the UK's most-watched network narrates in the series.
Although Farrell was a little worried about how he would perform returning from a layoff and as a focus of a documentary, he somehow manages to find some winnings along the way.
He recently told WPT.com: "It's quite interesting to see me getting back into the swing of things as well. Another reason why it was kind of really fortunate that we got the poker footage that we did, because I think coming back after a fairly lengthy layoff, it's quite likely you would just bust a bunch of tournaments in your return, normally.
I was fairly comfortable and seemed to be doing quite good getting back in the swing of things. Some bad habits still remained, like being in sulk for 30 minutes after busting a tournament in my incredibly fortunate and privileged life."
First aired on Friday August 16th, the documentary is now available on BBC Scotland and on the BBC iPlayer streaming service. International viewers should be able to access it via VPN.
Why does this forum think that the life of a poker player is a waste of time? I think that helps you a lot in how to face big challenges in this sport. The experience of others also helps anyone who wants to one day be a professional player. of poker.
To be honest, I think it can be an interesting documentary. Sometimes such films are really cool and you can learn a lot from them. I think that there are more people who are curious about this film than just us Of course, there will also be those who will not like it, it's completely normal, everyone has different tastes.
one is to see a biographical film that has a lot to say and another is to see a documentary that seems more than likely banal, because the subject is not tempting. I think so, but obviously some are tempted to see and you the same. Good luck in your pursuit, if you have the opportunity to follow him.
That's right, friend, these types of movies are very interesting and help more players to believe in this sport, with hard work you can achieve results, we also learn not to make mistakes in the process.
yes, every person who is passionate about poker chooses what he will do if he has the opportunity to "intersect" with documentaries or films about this poker subject. People do what they want with their time or interest and that is normal.
Each of us has a story to tell with poker, unfortunately it does not appear on the big screen, but this helps us improve our decisions when we talk about poker, it is always very helpful to see these documentaries of players who went through this.
yes, it is, because there are enough phases where people have stories to tell about their games, but for that you have to know how to connect the words to some extent, to come with something beautiful. Where is something nice to say, there will be more followers.
It is very exciting to see stories like this in a documentary, we all have something to tell about our lives and this poker player did it, you can learn a lot from this, he himself says that playing again is quite a challenge.
Posted by Mober: Documentary for poker or poker players, is just a waste of time.
I mean people are watching docu series after docu series on worse subjects than these two to be honest. It's not like BBC Scotland is a cultural capital of the british tv landscape.
yes, everyone has their option and if it's not nice, stop watching, but there are so many documentaries and videos with and about poker, where many people can gather some information that will help them.
I like to watch documentaries, stories on various platforms of players who started from scratch playing poker and are now millionaires, there are many stories of improvement in this game called poker, it is clear that not everyone will become like them but at least be able to follow their steps.
when you will watch it, write here on what this looks like and what people can expect from it! is it bad, good or something in the middle! its same like you will watch documentary about sports player, you will like it or not because of that person! I cant say that I know something about this poker player!
but a documentary always leaves you with many lessons, this one in particular is going to leave many positive things, you can learn a lot from this documentary about this player, in this documentary he presents his life in poker, including the ups and downs of his career in the tournament after taking time off to start a family with his partner.
They are situations in the life of a poker player that make us learn something also when it happens to us in our own life throughout our career as an online poker player. I think it will be very useful for us to watch these types of documentaries.
I think it is very evident what is shown, we are always going to extract from a documentary the things that can be useful to us in our life as a player, sometimes we can always learn from mistakes.
That's right, many players always bring their stories to the big screen, you know their beginnings, their career and what they achieved in the world of poker, it is not easy but with a lot of work they always achieve the goals they set for themselves one day.
I think that very few are sure interested in seeing, but it is of utmost importance, in addition this always serves for our game, there is always something to learn, and in poker, like in life, we are learning every day, from others you can learn.
There it says that international viewers should be able to access it through a VPN, now all VPNs are paid, but if you want to enjoy this documentary you have to spend more if you are not from Scotland.
