Last Saturday, Fabrice Solier, from France, and Shawn Buchanan, from Canada, continued the heads-up on the $10k HORSE final table. Up for grabs was a WSOP gold bracelet and $609,130. Soulier returned to he final table with a huge chip lead over his opponent. And just like many expected, it was game over for Shawn Buchanan after just a few hands. This is how the final hand was played out:
GAME: Omaha-8 Fabrice Soulier was on the button and raised. Shawn Buchanan called. The flop came down 10[c]8[d]4[h]. Buchanan checked, Soulier raised, Buchanan put in 3 bets, Soulier made it four bets, and Buchanan called all in.
Day 3 of the $10k H.O.R.S.E. Championship has come to an end. Even though there are only 2 players left, Fabrice Soulier (from France) and Shawn Buchanan (from Canada), the tournament director called it a day as 10 levels had been played. Yes, there is a 10-level rule at the WSOP. This rule was clearly not so popular amongst the 2 finalist who wanted to continue playing and get it over with.
The final table of the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship is played at the moment. A few moments ago, Tom Dwan was eliminated in 5th place for $134,480. The 4 remaining players are Fabrice Souller, from USA, with 2,775,000 chips, Andrey Zelchenko, from Russia, with 2,650,000 chips, Shawn Buchanan, from Canada, with 1,300,000 and Daniel Ospina, from USA, with 590,000.
The winner will take home $609,130. We will return with an update as soon as the tournament has come to an end.
Rumors that Scotty Nguyen has problems with his alcohol use has been circulating on the web for a very long time. That he was really drunk at the televised final table in the 2008 WSOP HORSE-event didn't really help him prove people they were wrong about him and his "so-called" alcohol problems. However, a few days after that Scotty won the HORSE event, he realized that he had done something wrong and therefore he apologized to all his fans in his blog.
Lately, many have claimed that Scotty cant play poker sober. Scotty now wants to prove them wrong as he said in a recent interview that he wont drink anything in the next few poker tournaments and show everyone that he's as good sober as drunk.
After that Erik "Erik123" Sagström got kicked out on a third place, it came to be a very long heads-up between David Bach and John Hanson. But after many hours of playing it came to be David Bach who took down the tournament. For the win he received the first prize of $1,276,802 and a gold bracelet. But that's not all, he also received the Chip Reese Trophy - something that is almost more invaluable than a bracelet.
The $50K HORSE Event is still being played as we speak but Swedish poker pro Erik "Erik123" Sagström will not be fighting for the million dollar price pool as he finished the tourmament in 3rd place. Read more » No Win for Erik Sagström
The poker star Scotty Nguyen became the 2008 champion at the WSOP H.O.R.S.E event; he has earlier won titles in both WSOP Main Event and World Poker Tour. When the TV broadcast of this event came out it shows a drunk and trash talking Scotty at the final table. There has been a lot of talk about how this event played out and the part that Scotty played in it.
During the final table Scotty is acting really inappropriate towards the other players at the tables but also towards the staff and waitresses. He is also showing his cards to the audience behind him during one hand which is really out of line.
