The survivors from Day 1 A & B continued their play in this year's main event on Tuesday. The two fields were seated in different rooms in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino; survivors from Day 1a played in the Amazon Room while the B's were playing in the Brasilia and Pavilion rooms. Once Day 2 was concluded, approximately 700 players survived from both fields out of the +1,900 players that came through from Day 1.
The chip leaders from Day 1, Martin Jacobson and Trey Luxemburger, could not hold on to the top through Day 2 although Jocobson played very well most of the day and finished 9th on 342,700 chips. Luxemburger finished the day on 64th with a stack worth 186,800. The man that bagged the most after Day 2 is a relatively unknown player called Tim Stansifer who took over the lead with a chip count of 481,500.
The third day of Event #55: The Poker Players Championship ($50,000 buy-in) is in the books. Don Nguyen (picture), from USA, will lead the remaining 26 players to Day 4 of the tournament. He will be joined by big names such as Jonathan Duhamel, David Benyamine, Joe Hachem, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren and Huck Seed.
When the remaining field of 26 has been narrowed down to 16 during Day 4, then all players will be guaranteed a minimum payday of $111,893 - with the chance of laying hands on the first prize of $1,774,089 and the coveted gold bracelet!
We will be back with another brief update tomorrow!
Day 3 of the EPL Main Event is over and the final table is now set! Hasan Habib, who had the second biggest stack at the beginning of Day 3, is the one who will bring the biggest stack to the final table, which will be played 2pm local time at The Palms Casino in Las Vegas. It's an extremely good final table we will get to watch today. Just have a look at the final table seating and chip count below and you understand what I mean.
Not much interesting happened during the very short Day 4 of WPT Cyprus. So, what can we tell you about Day 4 then? Well, Rep Porter, took over the lead after that he doubled up and played great poker throughout the day. The big stacks continued playing great and remained in the tournament. After 2 levels, 10 out of 21 players were still in the tournament as Day 4 came to an end. Day 5 of WPT Cyprus will also be a very short day as these ten players will play down to a final table of six:
Rep Porter - 1,786,000 Jonathan Little - 972,000 Layne Flack - 952,000 Steven Fung - 681,000 Huck Seed - 669,000 Uri Keidar - 583,000 Janar Kiivramees - 509,000 Rony Jazzar - 437,000 Thomas Bichon - 396,000 Nenad Medic - 256,000
Only 10 players are now left in the tournament with the chance of winning the first prize of almost $600,000. The Team Full Tilt pros have been doing very well in WPT Cyprus. However, Huck Seed, is the last Team Full Tilt pro who still have a great chance of winning the tournament after that Kelly Kim was eliminated a few minutes ago in 11th place ($20,760)
Rep Porter, has a big chip lead at the moment with around 1.7 million chips. On second place is Jonathan Little with 940,00 chips, and on third place is Layne Flack with a bit less than 940,000 chips.
