Still no cash in my Moneybookers account Greenie. I'll keep you updated.

I'm not one to pester someone about things! You'll be lucky to have it by the end of the week and I'll be lucky to notice by next Monday since I might be gone for most of the weekend since this is actually my wife and I's 19th anniversary. We're thinking about going to Atlantic City since my cousin will be playing there or the Charlotte NASCAR race. Then again, there's the Indy 500 really close to home here. About 90 miles away. It's her call! I'd be happy staying home, relaxing with the time off work since it's a 3 day weekend and playing poker. She'd probably frown on that gesture.

Thanks for all! Do you think Administration is allowed to accept thank you offers from the Mobsters?

Congratulations and sounds like you're going to have a great weekend no matter what you do. I am starting to be anxious to try out Carbon Poker - sounds like I am looking more forward to the transfer than you! Smile

Pretty busy lately with everything, especially with the end of winter activities overlapping summer ones, so not a lot of time for poker. My roll PokerStars hit severe turbulence that ended with a tilt session and BAM it was gone. My roll on 888 grew nicely, did a nice withdrawal and has continued to go well. My efforts at MTT have hit a lot of bumps as well, and I have had a number of bad beats and lost coinflips, so I am still looking for my first big win.

Probably the most positive aspect for me has been Carbon Poker. With the money Greenmohave transferred to me and split so that he could get some out, I took $25 from my portion of the split to the blackjack tables. Longtime followers of my blog know that I have hit well at times at BJ and this was no exception. I hit a nice stretch of profits, and after a while I was playing purely with casino money so nothing to lose right? So right now Green and I have worked out something, and he should be getting his money as soon as Carbon processes the withdrawal of his portion. I have to say throughout it all Green is one of the nicest BRM posters around, so big Thumbs Up to you pal. With the success of my roll on Carbon I emailed support there to see if I could organize a tournament for my forum friends on BRM. So far I don't have a response but as I mentioned before, I would somehow like to limit it to forum members with 100 posts or more. I'll keep you updated.

gald to hear you're doing well in terms of Dollar hope your bankroll grows as well as the underground cannabis plantation in the white house Thumbs Up
nice idea you have there on a tourney for brm'ers...do you want it to be held strictly on carbon or will pokerstars do just fine...we have home games club there with only real brm'ers occupying the tables...anyways it's your call- whatever you decide, it's still a great initiative Thumbs Up +1

Well, if I manage to make it happen at Carbon that means Greenmohave can participate as well, and I do want to repay his generosity and great BRM spirit. As well, after my roll on Stars crashed I was so p!ssed I deleted the software off of all my computers!

Well, here we go again with another blog post where BRM flashes that yellow box at me saying:

Wait a minute...

The last reply in this thread was 91 days ago! Are you sure you really want to bring this thread back to the frontpage? Consider what it is you have to say, maybe it's better to create a new thread if your post doesn't really require this entire thread?

Smile

The summer was busy and now I think I am ready to get back into poker in a more serious way. This morning I played four tables of NL10 at 888, first time playing more than two tables in a long time, and after 75 minutes was up about $55. I have to admit I hit some big hands and hit AA about six times in that stretch without getting them cracked, but overall I felt good and reasonably sharp, and stuck to my game plan like glue instead of getting bored and loose and calling out of position with weak cards. In fact, after 75 minutes my focus started to drift so I shut down rather than keep playing and start going downhill, something which has happened too much to me in the past when losing focus. Some poker goals for the coming week: continue multitabling when feeling up to it, work on maintaining my poker focus for longer, get a new cable to hook up my large screen to my laptop so I can play more tables, and brush up on general strategy.

The biggest thing of note for me this past summer was that my wife and I took two weeks off and took the kids to Disney in Florida. Amusement parks are not usually my thing, but I had a blast and so did everyone else. We drove, which from where I live in southwestern Quebec is 23 hours non-stop, which took us two days but it went really well. When I told the border guard as we entered New York that we were driving to Florida, and he saw our kids in the van, he got a smile on his face that said "Good luck buddy, better you than me!" But very smooth and saw some awesome vistas and met a bunch of nice people. The weather was fantastic; I have no problem with snow and cold but my Spanish blood felt right at home with the mid to high 30s and high humidity. After a week at Disney we drove to Clearwater on the west coast and spent a few days at the beach there before heading back home. BTW our family favourite ride at Disney was Star Tours.

That’s it for now, good luck everyone and have a great weekend!

It seems you had a great a great time in your vacation.
Always nice when that happens.
Especially when kids are involved Smile
I bet most of us know the usual cliche that kids ask in long trips and drives us crazy...
Are we there yet? Big Smile

Nice to read about from you mahdrof and will always wish you the best. Funny you brought up your trip to Florida which included Clearwater. I used to go there for 2 to 4 weeks when I was 14 to 18 and stay with my Grandparents. Very fond memories came back when I read it in your blog.

So have you ever been back on Carbon Poker to play? Just curious since that is the only site I spend any time on. Actually played a bit after work yesterday and won a $33.00 coupon just playing steady in a $1.10 rebuy with one addon. Happy to say I bought in once and stay atop of the leader board for the entire game. Just learning to fold those hand sone really wants to play, but why risk the tournament. There's always more hand sif your patient and play the good hands at the right time.

Take Care mahdrof! Enjoyed the read.

The kids were actually quite good considering the amount of time we sent driving in our van, however on the trip there and on the return drive the first day went better, with the second day being a bit crankier. Right now we are looking at going back next year, but on the first day doing 75% of the distance so that the next day we only have about 6 hours of driving and can take things a bit easier. We'll see...

Clearwater was awesome Green, lucky you to have spent time there in your teens - the eye candy was delicious. Evil

Haven't been playing on Carbon for a long time, but I am looking to returning there sometime this fall. Take care Green!

My first week back on the poker bandwagon was one of ups and downs, cracking aces and then getting ridiculous bad beats (karma), and registering a few more BI after that first good day last week. I decided during the week that with my work and home schedule, multi-tabling cash is the best fit. I would love to have more time for MTT but I don’t, so if it happens great, but I am not going to force the issue, and SNG is okay but I don’t enjoy it enough to play lots of it. The main thing now is to play better. Continued to brush up on general poker strategy, continued to four-table my laptop (still need to order that cable), extended my average session to 2 hours and felt pretty good all week. So goals for the week are pretty much like the last one, work on bringing my “A” game to the tables, order that cable, work on strategy and continue to grind the micros. GL all.

Hey mahdrof good to know ur back working ur skill with the grinding machine. I also face the same issue when playing mtts. They just take too long ( at least the ones with a good guaranteed prize) and quite often I find myself, 3 hours in, and so many players to go that I start to rush things and regretting I entered the damn thing.
This was the main reason I changed to cash but even thou I like it.. the thrill is just not there.. maybe it's just the levels on which I play that makes it boring after some time. U say u play 4 tables at micros.. what's ur buy-in in those if I may ask.. and when do you leave the table?

I play NL10 and NL20, and would like to work my way back to NL100. I leave the table when I run out of time or when my focus starts to drift.

That's the main difference there I see. To me NL10 or 20 its not micro anymore mate.. would be happy to play 1 table like so and not to worry what it might do to my bankroll... seems I still have some major grinding to do myself.

The only thing I can recommend lukasb, is to work on your strategy and post hands here, I have received a lot of assistance from other members here when it comes to that.

On what site do you play now mahdrof? Lately i did not see on 888 poker anymore but i have to admit if you were only playing NL it would have been hard to spot you since i only play PLO.

Record a session and post it up if you can, i bet that way you can help a lot more mobsters that seek your help about strategy Blink

nice to hear from you Mahdrof - you always have something interesting to say (bullsh1t i'm really just writing to get those pesky 10 mobpoints). man u have the patience to grind those tables, whenever i try to do that - i end up bored and try to play any "good" hand, which basically has only one prerequisite- it must have 2 cards Tongue probably zoom is the only way out for me, but i heard rumors that one must have steel balls and potbelly to survive there Confused

Hey Macubaas, I am on 888 and although I look for you on the PLO tables to say "HI", haven't seen you yet! I am on NLH-9 max $10 and $20BI, unless a 9 max PLO table opens up at $6 or $10 BI, those are unreal juicy Evil

In terms of recording a session, I could probably figure out how but it is not something I will be doing. First of all some of my competitors on those tables are occasional BRM members, and I don't feel like giving them any free insight into how I play. Secondly, I don't consider that I do anything special and there are far better players who post here on BRM from whom you could learn a lot more: jovicakralj, jessthehuman, doomdy, bemyatmplz, bigfoot, are a few that spring to mind. I consider my biggest asset to be the reads I make on other players.

Unless you are playing recreationally, boredom while playing internet poker is one of your biggest enemies. Some remedies:
- multitable
- play some fun music you can groove to that doesn't detract from your level of play
- try a different variant of poker, there are lots of them
- take a break from poker once in a while
- if you hit a hot streak, try to withdraw some of your winnings and use them to take your wife/girlfriend out. I find actually receiving the money in my account and doing something good with it motivates me to work harder and get better and have another withdrawal.

As far as ZOOM poker or any of its variants, I tried it and found that it was very hard to get reads on other players, as there are only a few regs and the rest are all gamblers and wannabes. When I multitable I tile the tables and watch the action simultaneously, seeing how the other players bet their cards and the betting patterns they display, so that when I am in a hand with them I have something to base my decisions on instead of purely on the cards.

If you are just playing recreationally don't sweat it and enjoy. Smile

Another week is in the books and my play continues to progress. My "feel" is starting to come back, but my focus is taking longer to re-establish itself. This morning I was up 5 BI at NL10, and after two hours I started to make the stupid plays and loose calls that have sunk me in the past so I shut down. Still have to order that cable to connect my new laptop to my large screen, I think I'll go online and order it rather than try to find the time to go out and buy it.

This marks the second week in a row that I make a withdrawal. In the past I have sometimes gone up too fast through the levels, only to hit a bad session and tilt away my BR. This time I am making weekly withdrawals of 90% of my winnings for the week and staying at mostly NL10. I figure at this pace I have three more weeks before I have the roll to play NL20 and 30. Seeing the money arrive in my bank account and using it is a big motivator, especially in September when the kids' fall activities and school kick in, and then the renewal on the car licenses arrived... Sad

Have a good weekend and rock the felt Smile

Caught up on your blog and as usual a good read which is not lacking advice or integrity. I actually did what you suggested in your blog and took a break most of this week due to working late, tired and the day I did attempt to play I was drifting.

Right before my break I couldn't win any real money, but managed to collect tickets for the big 250K this month, another $215 entry, a $33 entry coupon and a few smalls so we'll see how I do on the 22nd of the month and last weekend.

Good Luck to all & always great respect to you mahdrof. Will always think the pic in your avatar is one crazy dude who would hurt ya! LOL

Not a lot of poker playing recently. Last week I was on vacation but was so busy getting everything ready for winter that poker didn't figure in there. My son also hurt himself in a cross country run, falling down a small ravine and requiring a trip to the hospital for X-rays. Luckily nothing broken but he got pretty scraped up. I used a small amount of my poker winnings to finance a trip to the 888 casino which worked out really well, earning me a nice withdrawal.

Last night I felt like playing but was pretty tired and didn't feel like risking a big amount when I am not at my best. I bought into a $2 BI freezeout MTT on 888, and after an early misstep I started to slowly build my stack and ended up in 3rd place out of 318 for $51.00, so pretty please about that. Hoping that my request for the 5 Euro roll on 24Hour poker will go through, I love trying to build rolls from scratch. GL all!
