Not that posting small or somewhat lacklustre results is a bad thing, IMO any gain is better than any loss, but my slump came to an end last night. Had seven tables open and had a nice profit when this hand came up. Raised to 4bb, sitting in late position with AJs so called and landed a nut flush draw. Player to my right raised 3/4 pot, I called, button folded, shortstacker shoved and then player to my right reraised that: DECISION TIME! I knew if the spade landed I was going to take down a huge pot, and with the profits I already had if I lost the hand I would be back to where I started. I called, landed the nut flush, player to my right shoved and I gladly obliged! Kaching! GL mobsters!

nice hand mahdrof Thumbs Up i woulda called in that position too...knowing i still posibly had 9 Spade to hit and 2 overs...worst case scenerio on flop was trips, higher pair/2 pair, flush and low straight draws...sometimes pokers a gamble and u gotta go with ur first instinct!

May is over and definitely an up and down and then up again month! Hit a bad downturn after the first week, dinked around a bit while I thought things over and then returned full force by mid-month to move up by about $1200 in the last fifteen days. Funny thing is, up until a couple of months ago my best poker playing would be in the wee hours of the morning, but these days after I get the kids to bed at around 7:30 and hit the virtual felt, rock n roll! Today I took a break from poker and fooled around a bit at Rummy Royal with a few games of HU rummy, my personal favourite. Won six games in a row for a grand total of $4 (I only have a few dollars here), before dropping a couple and closing down. My brother and I played a lot of rummy as kids, but then we got older and got into girls, modifying and racing cars, girls, beer, girls, sports, girls... Big Smile GL all!

Yesterday marked the end of another week, and my upswing is continuing into June. Doing well but I have to stay away from monring sessions, as both yesterday and today I get slammed in early morning play, only to recoup and post gains later in the day. Yesterday was a roller coaster, as my pocket monsters kept getting cracked and body slammed, and monster draws would not get completed. Twice was in big hands with lots of $$$ on the table, flopping open ended straight with flush draw and .... NOTHING! Luckily ran into some generous souls who were in the mood to donate, one who got his KK cracked while I led him to believe I was on a draw (love that move) and another where I read him like a book, and my pocket 8s were good enough to take down a big pot. My rummy game continues to rock, and I doubled my roll on Rummy Royal after one week. No complaints, just very tired after a busy weekend of acitivities. Sleepy GL dudes and dudettes!

there are always people who love donating but tough thing is finding them and making them stay at table for some time. nice to know your upswing still continuing, gl and hope it lasts longer Blink

It's even harder when you sit on the table with an idiot who keeps calling him donk etc. It's the worst what can happen (even taking some bad beat from donk isn't that bad, if he keeps playing weak you'll beat him).

I've also played some Rummy, bud just for fun & busted my bankroll really soon, however I've played quite long and had doubled up, but then lost it all Tongue

Had a pretty good week overall, but extremely busy with work and family and whatever time I can find for poker. Something has to give and one of them is BRM. I have been semi-regular here since last October, and will probably return more often come September. Wishing all of you a good summer, GL on the felt and may your pocket rockets hold up! Smile

Have a few minutes this morning so nice to be on BRM forum again! Soon we are getting ready to leave, my son has his last basketball game of the season, my daughter has soccer (football for everybody else), and then birthday party at a friend's place for their son. Nice day for barbecued burger and a swim. Smile

Up $1400 for the month so far; regained my form after a couple of bad sessions as well as a bit of bad luck, one of which was unbelievable that someone would call a big raise preflop with A7o, and then call big bets all the way to the river where he landed a straight! Donk calls will also get you into trouble: yesterday raised preflop with JJ, UTG+1 calls with J9o and the flop comes 9J9! Fireworks! KABOOM! and the donk gets body slammed. MWAHAHAHAHA! Evil GL mobsters!

Been a couple of weeks, and they haven't been easy. I withdrew $1500 in gains from my poker account before I got whacked on my back by a heck of a chest cold. Yep, summer is here and I know a few people who got this thing: hits very hard for a couple of days and then leaves slowly. The problem is, being a very goal driven person I kept going for certain $$ goals and... crash! A lot of pretty vicious bad beats too, people sticking around in the face of big bets to land runner runner flush, nuts straight on turn, opponent with trips shoves to which I gladly oblige and the board pairs on the river, etc. However the past few days I am on track and growing the roll, playing mostly NL10, NL20 and NL30 cash. GL all!

On vacation now, playing mostly 50NL and 100NL and really doing well. Although cash is my preference, I have embarked on a new wrinkle in my poker playing: MTT. I have played MTT before, had success but mostly avoided it due to the time requirement. Having a full time job, two kids and a wife and a small farm, often my poker playing is an hour in the morning and another hour and a half at night while my wife watches Batchelorette or Big Brother Thumbs Down However I want to try and mix in good value MTTs with the goal of building an MTT bankroll that lets me play the big ones, where if you make final table the $ amount is substantial. For now just playing the smaller ones to get back into the swing of it, and I want to work on my strategy too. GL!

When it comes to the cash games do you play on some room/network that gives good rakeback or it's just your favourite room and you don't have any rakeback at all?

I get rakeback at 888, but it isn't super. I just find that after playing there for four years I am very comfortable with the software and overall I am happy with my playing. I could go for higher rakeback by switching to the LuckyAce skin, but I still haven't decided yet. I know it sounds silly, but once you are comfortable why break the karma?

Did another withdrawal, climbing back up via NL10 and NL20 for now, also changing some stuff in my strategy so better to try it there than at NL100 only to find it doesn't work!

Yep, you need to be comfortable, but it's possible that even on worse software and even with worse profits from game you can have better rakeback. Well, money is not everything, but it's also quite important, isn't it?

I'm just courious, because you can have very good rakeback on P* - not 'strict' rakeback, but still you can buy cash in FPP shop which gives you quite good rakeback and also very good software imo.

Honestly LooseKiddie, other than when I first started playing at Pokerstars I have always run very bad there. Ridiculously bad. My aces were cracked regularly, even though I raise SUBSTANTIALLY with them, KK would often run into AA, and my draws rarely hit. Right now I am doing fine at 888, and if not for a ridiculous tilt session on William Hill I would still be there building my roll which started from $50 after winning the draw at BRM. I am not ruling out returning to Pokerstars, but not right now. If anything I will be returning to WH at some point, probably with BRM cash again.

I think maybe I finally learned my lesson: when I am dead tired if I can’t control my tilt at microstakes SNG, then do something else and get some rest. Wednesday night I had a boy scout leader meeting that went way way later than it should have, and then yesterday morning I woke up early as usual (4:30). Many times I have played anyways only to spew chips all over the place, but this time I played a few 6 person turbo SNGs, and when it was obvious to me that I wasn’t playing well I did other stuff. Got some good rest last night and did well multitabling this morning at the cash tables. Very pleased. Smile

On vacation again, this time for two weeks. Heading off in a few hours to Lake George, New York with the family to go camping and visit everything there is to do there, back on Saturday. Later this month going to a trade conference in Washington D.C. for a week so poker will be getting a break. Doing okay, grinding micros and having fun, building up the BR and starting my climb to get back up to the higher buy in tables. My Gutshot BR ended in disaster on a very tilty day, so that is gone. Sad Will probably take a break from BRM this month as well, although I have said that before! Blink Whatever, have a good month and good luck on the felt Bankrollmobsters and mobsterettes! Smile

Got back from our camping trip yesterday afternoon, and on the whole everything went quite well. The weather was amazing, high 20s with no rain whatsoever, clean campsite, friendly neighbours and lots to do. On day three we went to The Great Escape amusement park, and there the highlight of our trip happened: my normally very shy son got up to dance with some of the cartoon characters and park employees at the closing ceremonies. It was also funny because anytime that we were out walking in public holding hands, if some cute girls happened to be in the vicinity he would instantly try and get his hand out of mine, LOL! Only eight years old but a good eye on that kid! Big Smile I would definitely recommend a visit to this area if you are in the vicinity, lots of fun.

It was also nice to take a break from technology and poker. Even though the campsite has a WIFI hotspot I left the laptop at home. Last night I played a couple of microstakes turbo SNGs, multitabled the micros this morning and looking to catch up on sleep some more tonight and get ready to do some damage. Evil

Sounds good, and it also happens that this type of trips are also my favourite, i mean i like them more since you can relax a lot better than in a busy place Blink

Since you didn't played poker this period of time i bet you really are in the mood for some cards, lets hope you'll make some profit too Big Smile

Keep us posted on your life/poker evolution Smile

Thanks for the words of encouragement Macubaas! The return to the cash tables on Sunday was nasty: twice I rammed flopped trips against straight flush! Still managed a profit but it was difficult.

Have started playing more turbo 6 person SNGs to get my poker sessions started, and they do a good job of tuning up my game before multitabling micro cash games. Normally I play $2.50 BI SNG but yesterday I was really cleaning up at $5 BI, and at the end of the day tried a $10 BI SNG and binked that one too! Feeling up about my game, finally caught up on sleep last night and it really showed at cash tables this morning. Sleeping in a tent and sleeping bags is fun but nothing beats being in your own bed.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
