"durrrr Challenge": Antonius lead is getting bigger

Tags: durrrr Challenge, full tilt poker, Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan.
Posted on 12 May 2009 by "T".

After 13,000 played hands in the heads-up challenge between Patrik Antonius and Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, Antonius has taken a big lead with almost 500,000 US dollars ahead of his opponent Tom Dwan. But there is a long way to go as they will play another 37,000 hands before the "durrrr Challenge" comes to an end.

It was a very tight game for a while between Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan. But the Finnish poker pro, Patrik Antonius, has now taken a big lead with $490,000 won from Tom Dwan. Even though there are 37,000 hands to go, many people now think that Tom Dwan will start losing up his game and that Antonius will take a big advantage of it. If Antonius wins the challenge he will take home another $1,500,000 plus the money that he has already won from Tom Dwan. At the moment, regardless how the "durrrr Challenge" will end, Antonius must be really happy as he is up almost $2,2 million this month on Full Tilt poker high stakes tables.

Its being a very interesting race, but we have to remember that it just passed one quarter of challenge. There is still a lot to happen, although its good news to Antonius.

500k ahead? nice, but a very hard work is coming to patrick to win the challenge

The only played 1/3 of the hands so up 500k is not that much as in the 2nd 3rd of the hands they could become even or dwan can take the lead.

Dudee, the last hands of this challenge will be awesome, i sense huge pots will be played there!

Update. They played a few hands (~250) and durrrr could win back 100k. So he is down only 400k at the moment.

I hope that Patrik the Boss wins the challenge, and i think he will. He is an amazing player.

i really think patrik is gonna win also... not such a durrr fan either!

I really hope that Patrick the Boss wins this one. I dont like Tom Dwan, although he is a great player too. But Pate is from finland so im on his side. Tongue

What the hell is going on? Is Dwan not getting enough 86o to 3bet?
Dwan will lose it, but he will say at the end: "Lost it to Patrick, can get it back from Gus".

Well I'm a Durrrr fan and obviously I hope he wins.

However I think Patrik has this one in the bag. Patrik is just too good at PLO and Durrrr's main advantage was the multi tabling element. Now that Patrik has adjusted to playing 4 tables and is still in the lead. I don't think Durrrr will catch up.

If the challenge was NLHE I think Durrrr would win but at PLO Patrik's just too good.

I think Durr will make a short comeback, but Patrik will go away with the overall win.

400K minus for Dwan, thtas not really much with these blinds.
3 big pots for Dwan and he is in the lead.
So 400K is not a very very big lead, just a lead.

They play 200/400. So it is ~1000BB.

Yep. It is substancial. Most of the time it was below 100k. So 400k is quite high. But PLO is swingy, and they have played just over 1/4 of the challenge, so a lot can happen.

Durrrr missed all his draws last session in all the big pots..But I don't know, does Durrrr still has an edge over PA?

Looks like Antonius has adapted to 4tabling. So i see him as the one with the (tiny) edge.
 Jodoli13/05/2009 15:03:24 GMT
I think Patrick Antonius wont lose this duel agains Tom "Durrrr" Dwan. They are both great players, but at this time Tom as to risk their chips more than Patrick Antonius so i think the trend should be to Antonius increase the advantage!
 wendeltromp13/05/2009 15:07:56 GMT
Durrrr is a master
 PingWin13/05/2009 15:50:01 GMT
I think durrrr will win the challenge

wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong ... go FINland!
 jozsan13/05/2009 19:37:16 GMT
actually after last session PA:s lead fell to +$391,704 but the challenge is far away from over and Durrrr seem to have trouble at tables these days so lets wait and see the results after 40K+ hands and if PA is still ahead we should have some vulgar play to look forward to
