Hard times for Gus Hansen

Tags: full tilt, gus hansen, the great dane.
Posted on 17 August 2009 by "T".

It's very hard times for Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen at the moment. Nothing is working out the way he wants, and he keeps on losing big. Gus Hansen, has lost over 4.8 million dollars at Full Tilt poker since April this year. One can't even imagine how it feels after losing so much money. Many people probably have asked themselves this question many times: Why don't poker players that have earned many millions of dollars stop playing when they have enough money to live the rest of their lifes in nothing but luxury?

The answer to that question in Mr. Gus Hansen's case is for sure his love for the game of poker and also because the kick he gets from playing on the highest stakes with lots of people watching him. We can be sure of one thing however. There is not a chance in the whole world that Gus Hansen will stop playing at the highest stakes until he has made of for all the losses.

We are looking forward to more action at the high stakes tables at Full Tilt poker this week.

No good times for the big guns. It is not only Hansen who got the beating. Antonius and durrrr are losing too. And even Ivey had some losing sessions.

Its just a game of luck and now the "pros" luck are running out ... gambling addicted fools that only need larger and larger doses of adrenaline and stakes, of course a lot of the well known pros will bust if they only raise raise raise raise the stakes.
 mattel17/08/2009 13:02:17 GMT

I couldnt agree more.
Thats my belief too.
That poker is just a game of luck and all that crap about books, systems and being a poker
"PRO" (how the hell someone can be a pro in poker or in black jack for example if that matters
since they are both card games based in luck) its just foolish.
And before someone tries to tell me the opposite just take a look again in the sum that
this poker "PRO" lost.
Cause no matter how much money he has or he won so far from playing poker losing so much
its just an incredible stupidity.

You won some money
(a large respectable sum like these guys did or do)
by doing simply nothing,
(they must be in a super physical and mentally condition to do that profession which requires hard work)
so stop being a major moron who just wants to keep winning more, since the freaking LUCK goes bye bye many times and put the money you won somewhere else and do something safer.

 dianakyra17/08/2009 16:52:29 GMT
that is what is happening they aren't the best players anymore but don't want 2 admit and therefore the have 2 lose much more before they realize that the arent anymore!
 GG17/08/2009 17:15:33 GMT
Yeh, even I'm on a bad run at the moment haha...

.......... Being a PRO is not as easy as it looks...

A. Did U won EPT, WPT, WSOP or any respectable tournaments?
B. If A pro loses 1.5$million fe. so?? >>>> Do U know his actual bankroll / how much money he has????
C. Ur a douchebag fok sake. Do u have any idea what ur actually talking about?
I mean, when i went ti vegas, I saw them play or sitting in the Redrock, Horse on the 500/1000 tables for example.
not everything is recorded from what the pros do........ djeez U want them phonenumbers to call em what they are doin? go ahead, I give U their numbers.

They do alot more then U think. Media just highligts the bad streak or the top winnings, but never inbetween.

I hope nothing wrong happens to Gus, and i wish him the same luck in game i want for me, which is a lot, but i think Hollywood already made a film about the " not a chance in the whole world that Gus will stop playing at the highest stakes until he has made of for all the losses" story. It's an Eddie Murphy movie were two old extremely rich fellows became extremely poor living in the streets. Everybody should understand its limits!
 MARCEL12317/08/2009 19:37:25 GMT
Ivey runs bad because he has Too much money Smile
no pressure to play his best.

Such a waiste because he really is good
 Ali_c17/08/2009 20:27:05 GMT
hansen said that if ivey win the main event, he win a bet of 1.1m,
so maybe he will get some money back soon

i havent won any of these and im not gonna since its not my life goal if its yours good luck with it.

I know that if he can lose 4.8mil it means it has more , but the thing you are not gonna get, is that
someone may lose evrything he has like many people did by gambling and many will.
that inckudes poker too.
if it was that easy for everyone by watching a game or reading a few books to win that kind of money everyone would be a PRO poker player.
But since its difficult for your pea brain to get it in order for someone to be a winner someone
must be a looser.that goes for poker too.
and dont tell me that you dont know cases with people losing everything they got in poker.
cause if you dont i sure do.

you better watch your mouth too cause i didnt say anything personal for you.
and if he is a relative of yours or a friend you can speak but if not just shut your mouth,
cause you will have to read a couple more times my previous post to understand what ive said,
if you can of course.

And yes i know very well what im talking about, but the thing is you didnt get the point on what i wrote before.
so instead of being upset for nothing try to be upset for something reasonable, and i will give you
one more hint since you are not good at it, try to be with some logic in it.
 SuperNoob18/08/2009 01:10:00 GMT
i think if he's having fun playing poker at high stakes and has money to afford it then whats wrong with it. he's on a losing streak for some time, i'm sure he'll bounce back with a big win.
 Flangel18/08/2009 01:19:45 GMT
Hmmm, ok

Respect that ur goal is not to achieve one of those.
In my case : Its my living already, and yes upcoming EPT london, i go also for example.
I am Not upset, imho.
Fact that he lost 4.8 mill can happen to everyone if U bet for a mill.
Loads of them invest pieces of their mills into other forms than cash like estate etc.
Poker is ofcourse a form of gambling, everybody including me has their swings according to the money he has in poker / gamblerelated issues.
Ofcourse there are loads of people that have lost everything due to poker or gambling.

Referring to my so called pea brain, open any discussion with me then, I don't mind.
They all lose , and they all win. their variance is quite higher then ours, and for hansen even more if he keeps betting like that.

And for referring watching my mouth... it's my honest opinion what I write.

The main problem is :
Ur all focused on media articles or news highlights, whilst Indeed, I have contacts with pros, magazine writers, journalists and so on.
If a magazine should also write what happens inbetween, it doesnt look that horrible.
it's the same when Durrrr Dwan was looking like a here, fs altho he was down to - 4-6 million by then.
Check the Bgrounds more fs,

Hansen generally is crazy if it comes to betting. We all know its not a Jesus Ferguson who is striclty playing an amount of tournaments and never exceeded his limits.

But ofcourse this doesnt matter because my pea brain can't make any sense or can't write any pokerrelated discussion / matter

/ftw

 JFugger18/08/2009 15:21:20 GMT
I don't feel pity for him, I think he still has enough money left, but still it mustn't feel nice to lose so much.
 Koss25/08/2009 12:36:18 GMT
That's sad, but he's a crazy player so I saw it coming.
 B1gfoot25/08/2009 12:44:08 GMT
