Eastgate's bracelet auction reaches new heights

Posted on 25 November 2010 by "K".

Through out the night, the bids for Peter Eastgate's bracelet from WSOP Main Event 2008 have been pouring in.

It was a pleasantly surprised ex-world champion Peter Eastgate, who yesterday noted that bids on his WSOP bracelet had reached 75,100$ from a starting price of 16,000$.

- I am obviously pleasantly surprised that the price has reached such a high level, he said.

Now there is good reason for further joy - for both Eastgate and especially the humanitarian organization UNICEF, who he donates all the money too.

Bids have been coming in since Wednesday afternoon, when Eastgate announced the auction. 22 bids so far, and the price now stands at 125,100$. A bid that fell this morning.

In all, 41 different eBay users have shown interest in the bracelet. One of them should be the poker player and businessman Tony G, who has proclaimed that he will make the bracelet into a dog collar.

Tony G is making the bracelet into a dog collar. XD Is there some sort of history between them, or does he just want to be in the pokernews?

(A while since I saw the final, maybe TG was felted by Eastgate, or something? Anybody remember?)

Hah - maybe Eastgate is just artificially inflating the bids, to try and extract lots of $$ from Tony G for being a prick.. out playing him at his own game perhaps..

Eastgate must have lost his mind - selling the watch and the bracelet.

It seems he wants to remove all the memories of, what should be, the greatest day of his life.

absolute madness - he will surely regret selling them.

Definately with dellbo99 on this one... What a donk

Dellbo99 i think you're wrong here.
People need to close chapters of their life. It's really hard when your chapter made you won so much money. He for sure would like to try sometimes again some big buy-in tournaments etc. We know he won't play (so i assume he was loosing because nearly noone will end if he is winning much after) , and keeping that staff like that isn't helping him at all.
I think he is doing the right thing.

are things that desperate that he needs to sell his memories?? surely his 9.1 million is still lyin around!

maybe he will not have children or grandchildren and thats why he sell it Big Smile !I am joking!seriously, maybe he could leave for children and then they could do whatever they want with this bracelet, sell or keep!if they sell in 20,30 years I am sure that will get more money that on this auction!

Good karma to you Mr. Eastgate. Decency ought to be everyone's main living rule.

The options for what to do with this kind of bling is imo
- Wear them at the poker tables
- Put them on display in your home
- Stick them in a drawer and get them out to look at from time to time
- Sell them
- Sell them and donate the earnings to charity

From what I have seen Eastgate is not a trophy-flashing kind of guy, and having them laying around as memorabilia obviously doesn't do anything for him either. So he chooses to put it to good use, which I can only give him my respects for.

Tony G on the other hand...
