Phil Ivey quits poker

Tags: phil ivey, quits, stops.

Some really sad news hit the poker world this morning: Phil Ivey has decided to end his poker career! According to Full Tilt Poker, a press release with more information and a personal "goodbye message" from Phil Ivey will be sent out in a few hours. The reason why he has decided to stop playing poker so early in his career comes as a big shock to most people, but not to one of his closest friends....

"Phil has been tired of poker for a long time and it was just a matter of time before he would stop and make it official. According to what Phil told me a couple of days ago, he will now focus on his other big interest in life, politics. Yes, believe it or not! Phil has a genuine interest for politics and he has told me that the aim is to run for the governor post in Las Vegas within the next few years." writes Howard Lederer in a forum thread.

 Fakiry02/04/2011 21:18:58 GMT
Very nice joke this one! But, thinking about jokes, i guess he would be a very good politician. Think about what most politicians do: find a way for people to like and vote on them so they can win the place/job they want. Then they just have to turn good news about them in the most known and talked about, and to turn the bad news to be forgotten fast. How? Making more things that will turn into good news. So, Phil is now achieving more good news about them (poker related) than bad news. If he would do in politics as he does in poker, he would be just fine, perhaps even trying to defeat Arnold Schwarzenneger in California after passing for Vegas! Smile Smile Smile Smile

Even if, powers forbid, Phil Ivey never sits the felt for the remainder of his hopefully long, long haul, to suggest that he has quit poker is akin to proposing that land animals 'quit' the seas, or that human beings 'quit' the nomadic life. We all grow, we all evolve and seek the full experience of life. Phil Ivey can no more quit poker than I can quit my ancestory. That said, I am grateful for those many moments, watching the wunderkind work his formidable 'magic'. We should wish him well, wherever his path should lead.

Oh, and to those unused to dealing with community or merchant organizations all the way up to Capitol hill..., politics and poker are like twin brothers.
