Day 3 of the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star saw a field of 44 players play down to a final table of 6. Paul Volpe finished second in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic main event last week and now has another chance to lay hands on his first WPT title.

The fact is that Volpe has joined Matt Salsberg as the only player on the tour to make back-to-back final tables this season. Volpe will be the chip leader on tonight's final table (just like WPT L.A. Poker Classic final table last week) with 5.5 million chips, and Erik Seidel, the last standing Shooting Star, will bring the second largest stack (3.4 million).

Official Chip Counts and Prize Pool of the final table:
Seat 1.  Joe Nguyen  -  2,175,000  (72 bb)
Seat 2.  Erik Seidel  -  3,435,000  (114 bb)
Seat 3.  Chris Johnson  -  2,740,000  (91 bb)
Seat 4.  Paul Volpe  -  5,525,000  (184 bb)
Seat 5.  WeiKai Chang  -  2,590,000  (86 bb)
Seat 6.  Joe Kuether  -  2,830,000  (94 bb)

1st:  $1,138,350  (includes $25,500 seat into WPT World Championship)
2nd:  $666,740
3rd:  $435,610
4th:  $295,590
5th:  $208,910

Paul Volpe is in a funny situation. He knows everyone’s looking at him leading this group of six and thinking if it will be this time that he gets his WPT title, because last week’s news. He’s got a good advantage but his opponents chips, all together, are more than double of what he’s got, which means that, if he doesn’t get much more until there are only two for the final HU, he won’t be in good situation to fight for the title. The toughest part of the game (at least for him, if we consider that others don’t have that much pressure - but they do, just take a look at Joe Nguyen and Erik Seidel, with so many given proofs of what they can do that they want to keep giving more proofs of what they still can) is still to come. And no one wants to take only $200k when they can still fight for $300k or even the $1M first prize.

Steve Behm moved all-in with AhQh, Erik Seidel made a quick call with KhKs.
Having successfully faded a fateful ace, Seidel scooped the pot, while Behm headed for the rail $124,460 richer in 7th place.
