2015 WSOP - Event #31: Jeff Madsen Wins Fourth Gold Bracelet!

U.S. poker pro Jeff Madsen topped a star-studded field of 480 entrants in Event #31: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better to lay hands on the $301,413 first-place prize and the gold coveted bracelet.

In 2006, Madsen became WSOP Player of The Year after winning his first two bracelets at the age of 21 (the youngest poker player in history to achieve that). Two years ago he topped a field of 640 entrants in the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha event to collect his third bracelet. Today, about one week after his 30th birthday, he picked up his fourth bracelet!

"I think the competition is the most important thing to me," Madsen said following the win. "When I started out, I wasn't thinking about winning 14 gold bracelets (the high mark held by Phil Hellmuth). If I just keep playing my game, I'll rank up the stats."

"It's all about maturity, it affects how you play the game," Madsen answered when WSOP reporters asked him to compare the big wins of his career. "I've always tended to be a streaky player. But as I get older I am trying to be more consistent....As for which (WSOP) win is the best, the first win is better because it gives you money and confidence to keep on playing. So, I would say the first win."

OTHER IN-THE-MONEY FINISHERS:

Aside from the final table finishers, other notable players who cashed included - Michael Gracz (10th), Robert Mizrachi (12th), John Reading (17th), Jonathan Duhamel (19th), Tom Schneider (31st), Perry Green (36th), Jeremy Ausmus (42nd), and Fabrice Soulier (51st).

It's funny to me how he talks about Phil Hellmuth and maturity in the same interview though it seems to me that he is far more levelheaded than him - despite being almost the same age as me. Congrats to him, sure an obscure game to top.
