Poker Hall of Fame member and WPT commentator Mike Sexton only had 10 big blinds after Day 2 and 18 big blinds after Day 3, yet he will enter the 6-handed WPT Montreal Main Event final table today with the biggest stack! Sexton finished Day 4 by eliminating Day 3 chip leader Samuel Gagnon in seventh place to take the chip lead.

Gagnon moved all in for 1.375 million holding 10Diamond10Spade, Sexton called with JHeartJSpade. The board of KSpade9Club2Diamond8HeartQClub awarded Sexton the pot and Gagnon was eliminated in seventh place for CAD $67,790 ($40,343). Sexton bagged up 6.2 million in chips at the end of the day and his closest opponent, Ema Zajmovic, had 5.3 million!

Zajmovic has the chance to become the first ever female champion of an open event on the WPT Main Tour. There have been a few close calls in the past, but so far 252 events have not seen a female winner. As for Sexton, it will be his third World Poker Tour final table and another chance of taking home his first WPT title!

All of the finalists are now set to take home CAD $81,740 each ($61,000). The last man or women standing after the final table concludes will get CAD $425,980 ($317,896) and a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.

Go on Mike Sexton!!! I would dearly love to see him take the tournament down and, with his chip stack, must have a very good chance of doing so. I look forward to the next update

I would take that seventh place any time Smile Not much of a difference though from the first place
prize, for 300k.
One good thing for being a professional poker player is that you get to travel a lot.
You are not stuck iin a place for the rest of your life, in comparison with most of the jobs.

It's like eight times more than the prize for seventh place. You cannot start a poker tournament by single out the goal of 'just getting ITM is plenty enough' because your time should be more valuable than that.

And he won it too, it seems that this tournament was made for him since the start wow. Last hand he was dealt Queens vs King Jack and all went in preflop and he even flop trips lool. Congrats Mike.

Wow. Mike Sexton made the final table! I did not expect he would make it when he had only 10 big blinds when the day 2 ended. Good luck, Mike Sexton. Good luck also to Ema Zajmovic, the last woman standing.

Thanks for pointing that out. I really appreciated it.
I don't mean to sound like a total prick but your statement above is not literally correct. Mike Sexton had not won the WPT title in Montreal yet when I wrote my comment hours prior to posting it on the forum. This thread is about Mike Sexton leading the final table, so my comment was relevant for the topic. And I did not find it necessary to update a content of the post.
