The 2020 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju, South Korea that was supposed to start on February 10 until 22 at the Landing Casino, has been ‘postponed until further notice' due to the Coronavirus outbreak that wreaked havoc in China recently.

According to Triton's news page on Friday, the organizers of the event said the decision was made due to the coronavirus outbreak and the ‘global emergency' called by the World Health Organization on Thursday.

"It's with a heavy heart that we inform you of the postponement of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju after the World Health Organisation (WHO) called the Coronavirus outbreak a ‘Public Health Emergency.'

Since the Coronoavirus first leapt from animals to humans in China a few weeks ago, close to 10,000 people have been infected, and it's killed more than 200. All of the deaths have been inside China, but the virus has spread to more than a dozen countries.

The safety of our players and support staff remains our utmost priority. Coupled with our duty to do everything we can in our power to prevent the virus from spreading, we've taken the difficult but correct stop of postponing the event with immediate effect.

The thoughts and prayers of the Triton Poker Team are with the families of those that have lost their lives and for the ones fighting the virus all over the world.

Another official announcement in regards to the potential resurrection of the event will be made on February 10th, 2020."

Coronavirus

What is the virus causing illness in Wuhan?
It is called the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. The new or "novel" coronavirus, now called 2019-nCoV, had not been previously detected before the outbreak was reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019.

Symptoms caused by the Wuhan coronavirus
The virus causes pneumonia. Those who became ill were noted to suffer fever, coughs and breathing difficulties. In severe cases, there can be organ failure. Since this is pneumonia of viral nature, antibiotics are useless. As it is a new strain of coronavirus, the antiviral drugs we currently have against flu will not work. If people are admitted to the hospital, they may get relief and support for their lungs and other organs as well as fluids. Recovery will depend on the strength of their immune system. Several of those who have died were already in very poor health.

Transmission
The virus possibly originally emerged from an animal source but now it is passed on from one human to another, as confirmed by China's national health commission. As of February 3, 361 people have died in China, and one in the Philippines. The latter came from Wuhan, China who arrived in the Philippines via Hong Kong on January 21. The man was admitted to a hospital for pneumonia on January 25 after having a fever, cough and sore throat. It's not clear if 2019-nCoV is the cause of his death, because Philippine health officials said he was co-infected with Streptococcus pneumoniae and influenza B.

Prevention
As there is no vaccine to prevent the 2019-nCoV infection at this time, the best way to prevent being infected is to simply avoid getting exposed to this virus. The CDC always recommends daily preventative methods to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

For now, there is no antiviral treatment recommended for the 2019-nCoV infection. Those who unfortunately become infected with this virus must receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms, and in the end, it is their own immune system that must overcome this. For severe cases, treatment will include care to support vital organ functions.

This coronavirus is very dangerous and today i read a news. 1,000 people have died in China and over 40,000 suffer from this virus. What a tragedy that can evolve strongly and if the scientists in medicine do not find a solution will be very bad for many countries and persons.

This is an interesting moment in time for humanity. Poker tournaments being cancelled, production of electronic items being suspended, China’s growth in the world economy being halted, people transmitting a virus around the globe when there is no identified cure for it. Sure it is worrying times and maybe this is the moment in life that denotes the start of the end. The polar ice caps are melting, Trump is president and Australia burns and floods. Whether man made or existing naturally but unnatural activities have led to its introduction, the world is on a crash course to something so get your online poker in now while you still can and enjoy your life without troubling yourself too much about stuff you can make no difference towards. Go home and kiss your kids and smile at your partner and tell the world you love them.

I didn't know that man can create viruses (that didn't pre-exist) , and then let them free in the world , so as to kill whom : many thousands or millions of people just for fun , or an anemy , or make some money if they do know the therapy , or it got free by mistake from a secret '' umbrella '' lab ?

Hahahaaa

I don't believe such things .

Anyway , as I said , I hope they find a cure as soon as possible , enough people have died ( besides any financial disasters in China or elsewhere , which ofcourse is the less to be concerned about these moments ) .

I advise you not to visit Asia at least one year from now. This is not a good opportunity, even if to suppose that you have a chance to make a lot of money. How much perversity exists in policy, or in the pharmaceutical industry, it makes people to die in every year.
