Sam Trickett calls Time Out from Poker

One of the best and most successful UK poker players, Sam Trickett, has called a time out from his role of being a partypoker ambassador. This is so he could spend more time with his growing family.

When his wife Mieke Dockley gave birth to their baby boy Bodhi Blu in October 2020, Sam's outlook on life has changed direction, mainly as he takes on the duty of becoming a father.

Currently sitting on second place in the UK All-Time Money listings, Sam made an announcement to his 54,800 followers on Twitter regarding his decision of taking some time out from poker, apparently one of the toughest decisions he has made in his life.

It is a fact of life that playing poker professionally is utterly time-consuming and it often results to leading a rather insular lifestyle. In the case of Sam Trickett, he has spent most of the last 14 years traveling round the world in search of the largest, most lucrative tournaments and cash games available.

For someone who's a dad now, it is difficult being away from home for weeks on end.

If you wish to know a bit more about Sam Trickett and his poker escapades back then, check out this awesome article about him.

I like his attitude about this player a lot, he separates what family and work as a poker player, it is seen that he is a very disciplined person, and knows how to take his time calmly, it is difficult to have that type of player today, who besides being a great player, as a person he is too.

It is good that he take time to be with his family, it is a moment that has to stop like everything in life, it is like a relaxation for him, after so much time he needs to recharge worn batteries, now his new stage awaits him , Congratulations.

this will be situation for maybe year or two,but this will not be for so long, because he will want again to earn money from poker and to play with best players,no matter is it online or live!ofcourse that he want to help wife in first months and to enjoy with his child, but when you are in poker for such a long time,we all know that soon his wish for playing will come over him!

In a professional poker career it is good that players can take a break or vacation whenever they want. There would also be the option of bankruptcy, but nobody wants that. People usually do what they want and People usually do what they want and such decisions are normal.
 geseco1215/05/2021 04:11:35 GMT
That will be for a while I think, but later we will see him again at the poker tables, the family must always be our priority, he will come renewed and continue playing the sport he loves the most.

people usually do what they want and people usually do what they want, you know what I mean?
how the hell professional poker player go bankrupt,if he have 500 000 or 1 million on account (dont talk about bigger players who have 10 millions) if they dont play for one year anything?you can live normal life with that money and not to do anything!

When he returns to poker, can be more focused and smell his opponents cards better. Some players need a break to return in force. I noticed this at two to three professional players. I think it's good to do the same online.

This is how it is with the money he has won, I think he could easily get out of poker and live quietly for the rest of his life, but those players do not have that thought, they are professionals and they see the game in a different way, we should not think that, rest It will help you organize your future.
 Cesar1416/05/2021 15:40:38 GMT
Many of today's professional players can afford to leave poker and live in peace for the rest of their lives, but they are not like that, it is their job and they take care of it like any other, they know that if they study every day and are persevering They will continue to earn millions of dollars each year.

we have all kind of pro players, somebody who have 100 K on account and somebody who have 10 million on account!ofcourse that this player that have 100 K cant have enough till rest of life, especially when he have family,so all depend where you live and how much you spend, but all of them must continue to play poker and to earn more!
 geseco1217/05/2021 05:34:49 GMT
We cannot exactly calculate the figures that most of the players we know have won, they are estimates, but the reality may be different, but what we do know that they have money to live peacefully, this player has won a lot and now to enjoy his effort of so many years.
 CALICUL17/05/2021 23:07:12 GMT
Poker is a job for them and it makes them to waste a lot of time. They lose hours each week to play, learning or following other professional players. Some take vacations without children but it is beautiful when they are babies and take care of them.
 Cesar1418/05/2021 02:03:11 GMT
That's right, they spend a lot of time playing poker, because they know that the more they play they reduce variance and in the end they will always win, a winning player knows that to achieve the results he has to play a lot, and what this player does is fine, he will recharge The batteries and he will come as new to continue working on what he likes the most, which is to play poker.
 geseco1218/05/2021 15:40:38 GMT
This great player will be having a good time as he deserves, it is not easy to be a professional poker player and at this much more difficult level, now he will be calm enjoying his family and preparing for the return.
 CALICUL18/05/2021 23:32:52 GMT
Everyone has the right to take a break and he can play in a movie, can stay with his family, or anything else. This is not a problem, because his opponents can take advantage of his absences from tournaments, because Sam is a formidable opponent.
 Rogerio1020/05/2021 05:20:33 GMT
I think he done enough for poker comunity and deserve a break of, i mean deserve is his right to do so why not. Specialy now when he gets the family. One of the best players to watch, i think hi is not quit for ever, just not being around soo much but still play here and there. Rarely see the players totaly quit playing.
 CALICUL23/05/2021 14:28:54 GMT
right now when the live games are starting to return to normal, he has chosen to take a break, but it is obvious that he is thinking about his family, who need help. You can't let your wife to take care of everything in house or with other things.
 CALICUL05/09/2021 21:42:22 GMT
when he gets bored this professional player will return to play to earn money for himself and his family. He will not be able to stay too far away from poker because there is a danger that his talent will decrease a bit. At that level it matters a lot and it probably won't exceed more than two years.
 CALICUL05/10/2021 23:46:17 GMT
It remains to be seen what decision Sam Trickett will make regarding his return, because it may take years or he may return as soon as possible. Some people are more family-friendly, but for a long time it will affect their career to a considerable extent. Its shape must be maintained, and when you do not play it decreases.
 CALICUL28/10/2021 17:27:58 GMT
Sam Trickett knows what he's doing and there have been other players who have taken breaks but haven't said it publicly. Everyone does what they want because you don't have to come here to play. It's not like a job here, but it's still the same. The differences exist, but is their pleasure to leave for a time or not

------------
Geseco, this professional player is relaxed, because he has a career and at that time he took an extended vacation. His children matter a lot and has enough money to stay at his home a long period. He'll be back in one day in future.
 CALICUL05/12/2021 08:26:25 GMT
when I look at this player I think about the moment when he will return after this break and will try to win a bracelet for the first time in his life. It would be an exceptional thing for him because he will satisfy a desire that he has not yet fulfilled. I hope he succeeds.
 milan_timko05/12/2021 17:30:13 GMT
It the right moment for him to take a break. You only have one chance to be part of the growing up of your child. The most important time to bond with your kid. You would think it doesn't matter he wont know. But the most important years in a child's development are from birth to when its like 3 to five. Experiences and relationships formed during these years determine how their brain develops. So don't waste that time. Good call from him to set his family at first
 CALICUL05/12/2021 17:33:44 GMT
it is the right decision for him , of course
 milan_timko05/12/2021 17:42:40 GMT
Ofcourse Cali, not only for him but for his entire family. The poker fans just have to be a bit patience for his comeback. But it would effect his playing at the tables when he would be forced to stay playing. I'm convinced he will become a better player when he returns. His carreer isn't over yet.
 CALICUL05/12/2021 17:45:50 GMT
he is young and will have time to win a few 1st places. Maybe in WSOP for bracelets. We wll see
