A British player named James ‘James23C' Carmichael is the latest one to join partypoker's circle of millionaires, thanks to him hitting a diamond flush and therefore getting the top tier $1M jackpot from just a $5 buy-in on SPINS on Tuesday.
McDowell, age 85, hit the $1M jackpot at the Borgata Casino Hotel and Spa with just a $5 bet.
This year's Christmas is very generous to this 85-year-old pensioner, as he got two wonderful gifts: 1) the doctor has told them that his wife has been finally cleared from cancer, and on the same week 2) he hit the jackpot worth $1 million at a casino with just a $5 bet!
Before we go ahead and bash the casino immediately (since most of us instantly assume that when somebody wins at a casino, they will do everything to find an excuse NOT to pay the winner), let’s see what happened last week, which started Monday, May 1.
At the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino located in Biloxi, Mississippi, police were called by the casino management on a situation regarding a couple who took off with over $1,000 in winnings, which they haven’t actually won.
Turns out that the two suspects, Christopher Ray Kinney, age 45, and Gina Renee Kinney, age 48, apparently had not placed any wager into a slot machine, but instead they simply cashed in a stolen ticket. Police speculate that they are husband and wife.
A friendship goes sour after this highly unusual incident at a casino in Florida.
Jan Flato, age 66, and his friend Marina Navarro, age 35, went to Florida’s Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Fort Lauderdale. Jan was playing slots but wasn’t getting any wins with his $50 bets, so he asked his friend Marina to push the button for him to see if she could help change his luck.
And it sure did! The slot machine lit up with a whopping $100,000 pay line jackpot!
So what went wrong for Jan? Strange enough, it was Marina who got the money.
The casino managers, upon viewing the surveillance footage of the incident, claimed that since it was Marina who pushed the button, then the jackpot is actually hers.
Pedro Quezada, won the $338 million Powerball jackpot (the fourth largest jackpot in history) on March 26, 2013, with a ticket he purchased at Eagle Liquors store in Passaic, New Jersey. Quezada, a Dominican immigrant with five children, said in an interview that he was going to help his family with the money. A few days ago, however, he dropped the bomb by saying that he will take the lump sum of $221 million and, according to the New York Daily News, pay the rent of everyone in his neighbourhood for a month or two.
Let's hope that his generosity won't cost him too much so he ends up like one of these lottery winners.
