It's rather unusual that live tournaments with buy-ins around $1,000 attract many (if any) players from the poker elite, but the $1,100 Omaha Hi-Low/Stud Hi-Low event at the 2017 L.A. Poker Classic managed to do just that.

Yesterday, the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic final table was played. Carlos Mortensen, from Spain, had the chance to win his 4th title on the WPT tour and because of that many were cheering a little bit extra for him to win the tournament. He did very well on the final table, but unfortunately he was sent packing in 3rd place, which left Gregory Brooks and Vivek Rajkumar playing heads-up. It only took 31 hands before a short stacked Rajkumar was forced to move all-in to stay in the game. Rajkumar had Q[s]10[s] and Brooks Q[d]Q[c]. Brooks queens stood up to the river and gave him the win and the first place prize of $1,654,120. Rajkumar got $908,730 for his second place.

Here's a video interview with the champion, Gregory Brooks

L.A. Poker Classic: Daniel Negreanu through to Day 4

72 out of 745 players have made it to Day 4 of the L.A. Poker Classic. Three of the most notable players that have made it this far in the tournament are Annie Duke (321,000), Daniel Negreanu (222,500) and Johnny Chan (218,000) - all of them with a bit over the average stack. Chip leader at the moment is Mark Newhouse with 498,000 chips and only 10k behind him is Chris Moore.

At the moment it looks like almost anyone in the remaining field of players has a decent chance of making it to the final table, however, we will have to wait for Day 4 of the tournament to pass before we know who the big favorites to win the tournament will be.

Day 4 of the tournament kicks off in a few hours time! Lets hope that it will be the most action filled day so far!
