On Thursday, it was announced that Todd Brunson and Carlos Mortensen become the 51st and 52nd individuals to be inducted into Poker's most exclusive club! The two poker pros were nominated by the public and voted in by a 44-person panel made up of existing Poker Hall of Famers and a Blue Ribbon Media Panel.

WPT World Championship: Tony Dunst & Carlos Mortensen Ready For The Final Table

The televised final table of the World Poker Tour World Championship is set after four days of play at Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The two biggest stacks of Day 3, Asher Conniff and Ray Qartomy, will be returning for the final table but defending champion Keven Stammen won't. Stammen, who brought the third largest stack to Day 4, went out in 9th place after losing his final chips (approx. 450k) to Ray Qartomy.

2012 WSOP Event #61-1B: No-Limit Hold'em Main Event

wsop2012The second out of the three opening fields in this year's WSOP Main Event concluded late on Monday night. Main event 1B attracted no less then 2,114 players. This means that the two starting fields has so far a total of 3,180 participants. From the 1B starting field only 1,387 remained after the first 12 hour opening session. In combination with the remaining players from the 1A field, the number of players that, as of now, will continue to day 2 is 2,044. According to WSOP.com reporter Nolan Dalla "Predictions indicate that at there will be more players for Day 1C than Day 1A and Day 1B combined".

Like the 1A field, the 1B field also saw some past bracelet winners leave during the first session. These included the 2001 world champion Carlos Mortensen, 2004 Main Event winner Greg Raymer and the mighty five time WSOP bracelet winner Scotty Nguyen.

The Main Event 1B concluded with John Hoang as the chipleader. The top ten standings from Day 1B is:
1. John Hoang - 180,000
2. James Schafer - 171,250
3. Vanessa Selbst - 168,350
4. Anh Van Nguyen - 163,050
5. Jeff Beckley - 158,550
6. Matthew Woodward - 158,500
7. Cornelius Foley - 146,875

WPT: Gregory Brooks wins the L.A. Poker Classic ($1,654,120)

Yesterday, the World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic final table was played. Carlos Mortensen, from Spain, had the chance to win his 4th title on the WPT tour and because of that many were cheering a little bit extra for him to win the tournament. He did very well on the final table, but unfortunately he was sent packing in 3rd place, which left Gregory Brooks and Vivek Rajkumar playing heads-up. It only took 31 hands before a short stacked Rajkumar was forced to move all-in to stay in the game. Rajkumar had Q[s]10[s] and Brooks Q[d]Q[c]. Brooks queens stood up to the river and gave him the win and the first place prize of $1,654,120. Rajkumar got $908,730 for his second place.

Champions Invitational: A battle between 20 WSOP Main Event winners!

20 poker players that all have won the WSOP Main Event took part in the same tournament (Champions Invitational) yesterday. In the lead before tonight's final table is Carlos "The Matador" Mortensen (42,375 chips) with Tom McEvoy close behind (31,000 chips).
