EPT Barcelona €25K Event Won By Juan Pardo; Football Star Gerard Piqué Finished Second

Juan Pardo outlasted a player field of 70 at the EPT Barcelona to win a total of €491,600 ($546,708), considered to be his biggest live cash ever at the EPT Barcelona circuit.

In the midst of the fray, there were two notable local soccer pros who managed to take home some sweet cash as well - Gerard Piqué and Arturo Vidal.

EPT Season 10 Begins Today

WPT Barcelona: The Final Table Is Set!

EPT Barcelona: Dan Smith Wins the Super High Roller

A total of 55 players entered (nine €48,500 re-loads) entered the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller (€50,000 buy-in), which generated a total prize pool of €3,072,960 - the richest tournament ever held in Spain! It ended up being Dan Smith, 23, who took home the tournament for impressive €962,925 after defeating well-known Mexican pro JC Alvarado, 27, heads up.

Last week, around 200 people gathered in downtown Madrid to protest against the construction of Sheldon Adelson's Eurovegas complex in their city. Adelson, CEO for Las Vegas Sands and the 14th wealthiest person in the world, will choose either Madrid or Barcelona as the location for the Las Vegas's sands next project - a $21 billion entertainment complex that includes 6 casinos and 12 hotels.
