Calgary-San Jose Sharks 03:00 2,80 3,80 2,10
Sharks team scope: San Jose will play the first game of a back-to-back set in Alberta that concludes Tuesday at the Edmonton Oilers. After a 4-2 home loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday ended a three-game winning streak, coach Pete DeBoer is hoping the Sharks can bounce back against the two teams with the fewest points in the Western Conference. "All year, when we've had games like we had (on Saturday), we've bounced back big, and I expect the same here coming up this week," DeBoer told the San Jose Mercury News. The Sharks allowed three power-play goals in the loss to the Canucks, and their penalty kill's 79 percent success rate was 23rd in the League entering Sunday. Burns has three goals and three assists during a three-game point streak, and Thornton has a goal and four assists during a four-game streak.
Flames team scope: Goaltender Joni Ortio is expected to start after he got his first NHL victory since Jan. 19, 2015, in a 4-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. Ortio has allowed 13 goals and has a .914 save percentage in his past five games. "He is so proud and he is so competitive that you push for him," coach Bob Hartley said of Ortio. "He always gives you a chance to win. He gets in net, he competes hard; he's tracking the puck well." Calgary returns home to begin a six-game homestand after going 1-3-0 on a four-game road trip. The win Saturday ended a seven-game losing streak and a 1-9-1 stretch. "You don't want to be known as a losing team,'' Backlund told the Calgary Herald on Saturday. "It was a tough stretch for us, but today was a great game for us.''

Montreal-Dallas Stars 01:30 2,60 3,80 2,20
Stars team scope: Defenseman John Klingberg is not expected to play after missing his first game of the season in a 2-1 win at the Ottawa Senators on Sunday. Klingberg did not travel to Ottawa because of a lower-body injury. "We're missing (Klingberg) back there, and he's our stud, so we know it's going to be a little different game when he's not there," Spezza told the Dallas Morning News on Sunday. Dallas won its second straight game, but coach Lindy Ruff was not impressed with the Stars' execution against Ottawa. "I wasn't happy with our puck movement," Ruff said. "It might have been our worst puck-movement game for missing passes and not making plays in the three years I have coached here." Forward Patrick Eaves will likely return to the lineup Tuesday after missing the past seven games recovering from pneumonia.
Canadiens team scope: Right wing Brendan Gallagher, who did not practice Monday after sustaining a lower-body injury during the first period of a 4-2 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, will not play. Forwards Alex Galchenyuk and Lars Eller also did not practice and are questionable; Galchenyuk sustained a lower-body injury Saturday. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said Eller has been playing with an upper-body injury for a while. "You can't judge the lines (Monday) because we gave a therapy day to Lars and (Galchenyuk)," Therrien said. "So we hope that they're going to be able to play (Tuesday) but we had to juggle the lines for (Monday) morning." Goalie Carey Price, forward David Desharnais and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu skated before practice Monday.

Colorado-Anaheim Ducks 04:00 2,80 3,80 2,10
Ducks team scope: Anaheim's 11-game winning streak ended Monday with a 2-1 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals. The Ducks have at least a point in their past 14 games. "We're winning right now, but we're not playing as good as we can. We have to get back to that," coach Bruce Boudreau told the Ducks website. "It's tough to keep winning. It was 11 in a row. Our execution wasn't what it should've been [Monday]." Goalie John Gibson, 4-0-1 in his past five starts, has the lowest goals-against average in the NHL (2.04).
Avalanche team scope: Goaltender Semyon Varlamov will start. Backup Calvin Pickard replaced Varlamov last Tuesday and started two straight games, but Varlamov was in net for a 3-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. "It was good for him to take those couple of days off, those couple of games off," coach Patrick Roy told the Avalanche website. "We have the luxury to have [Pickard], and [he] plays really well for us, but I thought [Varlamov] was really solid yesterday. That's what I said to him on the ice [Tuesday] morning, he looked very confident." Defenseman Zack Redmond (lower body) and forward Blake Comeau (back) missed practice, but Roy said he expects them to play.
