Buffalo Sabres-Columbus BJ 01:00 2,30 3,80 2,50
Blue Jackets team scope: Columbus plays the first of a back-to-back set; a disappointing season will end Saturday with a home game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The early loss at Buffalo was part of a season-opening 0-7-0 stretch that resulted in the firing of coach Todd Richards and the hiring of John Tortorella. "It's been tough," goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky told The Columbus Dispatch. "But usually you learn the most when you're down. We have to take good lessons from this and move forward. It's been tough for a lot of us in here." Columbus will try to sweep a two-game road trip after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1 on Wednesday.
Sabres team scope: Rookies Cole Schneider and Evan Rodrigues each will make his NHL debut for Buffalo after being recalled Thursday and taking part in practice. Rodrigues could find himself on a line with Jack Eichel; the two played together last season at Boston University, where they led the Terriers to the NCAA championship game. "He had a big part in my success last year," Eichel said of Rodrigues, an undrafted free agent. "He's one of the reasons that our team was so good and he was a big part of it." Rodrigues had nine goals and 28 points with Rochester of the American Hockey League. Schneider signed with the Sabres last summer after four seasons in the Ottawa Senators organization. Buffalo, which finishes its season Saturday against the New York Islanders in Brooklyn, is 25 points ahead of its finish last season with two games to play.

StLouis-Washington Capit. 02:00 2,25 3,80 2,55
Capitals team scope: Right wing T.J. Oshie will face St. Louis for the first time since being traded to Washington during the offseason. Oshie, who spent the first seven seasons of his career in St. Louis, didn't play in the first game because of illness. "It'll maybe be emotional going out for warmups, during the national anthem and maybe even the first couple shifts, but I think with the time gone by, it's a full season almost, and Washington feels like my new home now," Oshie told the Capitals website. Washington coach Barry Trotz didn't commit to a goalie for the two remaining games. Starter Braden Holtby is one win shy of tying Martin Brodeur's NHL record of 48 wins in a season set in 2006-07. The Capitals host the Anaheim Ducks Sunday at home and it is unlikely Holtby will play each game of the back-to-back set. Trotz said defensemen Mike Weber and Taylor Chorney will each get play in one of the two games. Each have been healthy scratches since March 22. Washington has lost three straight (0-1-2) and five of the past seven (2-2-3).
Blues team scope: St. Louis can clinch a second consecutive Central Division title and top seed in the Western Conference but need to get more points Saturday than the Dallas Stars get against the Nashville Predators. "Every team has to play now," coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Dallas has to play for points, we've got to keep playing for points and then we'll just see where it goes. It's nice to know we're going to have home ice [in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs] no matter who it is." The Blues are 7-1-0 in their past eight games and have won 13 of 16 (13-3-0) since Feb. 28. Rookie center Robby Fabbri will return after missing the past four games with a lower-body injury. "Today was another good day," Fabbri said after practice. "I'm trying to make sure when I come back, I'm at 100 percent. ... I'm trying to get better each day and it's been a good go around this time."

Washingt-Anaheim Ducks 01:30 2,20 3,80 2,60
Ducks team scope: Anaheim (101 points) defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-3 on Saturday and can win the Pacific Division after the first-place Los Angeles Kings (102 points) lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Winnipeg Jets in their season finale. "I think we're getting better, we're doing things a little better every night," Getzlaf said. "Things are going to ramp up here so we'll be ready. There's no good (playoff) matchup in the West. Anyone in the playoffs nowadays is a pretty good hockey team." Forwards Rickard Rakell (appendectomy), David Perron (shoulder) and Brandon Pirri (upper body), and defensemen Sami Vatanen (flu) and Kevin Bieksa (upper body) did not travel to Colorado. Rakell, Pirri and Vatanen each is expected back for the start of the postseason.
Capitals team scope: Goalie Braden Holtby and forward Alex Ovechkin each reached a milestone in a 5-1 win at the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Holtby won his 48th game (48-9-7), tying Martin Brodeur's record for victories in a single season. Goalie Philipp Grubauer is likely to start the second game of the back-to-back. Ovechkin had a hat trick Saturday to become the third player in NHL history (Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy) with seven 50-goal seasons and the first to have three consecutive 50-goal seasons twice. "We clinched so early, we haven't had a really meaningful game," coach Barry Trotz said. "We've played some great teams, but we needed a win just to get a sense of confidence." Forward Justin Williams will play in his 1,000th NHL game. The Capitals will play the Philadelphia Flyers, who defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 on Saturday to clinch the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference, in the first round of the postseason.

StLouis-Chicago 03:30 2,35 3,80 2,55
Blackhawks team scope: Forward Andrew Ladd and rookie Viktor Svedberg returned to practice Tuesday and will play. Each took a maintenance day Monday. Chicago, which dealt with multiple injuries in the final month, heads into the series with a full roster. Forwards Marian Hossa (lower body), Andrew Shaw (upper body), Anisimov (upper body) and Crawford (upper body) will play; Defenseman Duncan Keith will not play while serving the final game of a six-game suspension for a high-sticking incident. The Blackhawks recalled defenseman David Rundblad from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Monday and reassigned forwards Bryan Bickell and Dennis Rasmussen to Rockford. Rundblad, who was loaned to a team in Switzerland earlier this season, practiced Tuesday. He's not likely to play Game 1, but made a good impression on Quenneville. "[Defensive] depth, you start with that," Quenneville said. "He looked really good in practice today. They've been playing him 25 minutes [a game] in the [AHL] and he's come back with a good attitude. I thought he enhanced himself with how he looked and fit in today." Forwards Richard Panik and Dale Weise will likely be scratched.
Blues team scope: St. Louis has also healed up. The Blues had their full allotment of players at practice Tuesday, including Backes and forward Troy Brouwer, who had a maintenance day Monday and didn't practice. Their return came one day after Allen (lower body) and forward Steve Ott (colitis, hamstrings) returned to practice. Ott is supposed to be out for another week, but Allen is ready and will back up Elliott in Game 1. "This is the first time since the middle of the summer that we've had everybody available to us as a team, and that's impeccable timing because this is when you want all of your weapons on hand, and we have that," Backes said. "We'll have plenty of depth and ability to go and do whatever we need to with all the people available for the first time." Backes will play on a line with Alexander Steen and Patrik Berglund. Allen's injury opened the door for Elliott to start the playoffs as St. Louis' top goaltender, but Elliott's play is what ultimately earned him the opportunity. He finished the season 23-8-6 with four shutouts, a 2.07 goals-against average (tied for second in the NHL) and .930 save percentage.

Florida Panthers vs New York Islanders

Islanders have a good team, but I'm a bit worried that Greiss is in net, I think this will be one of the factors to the loss tonight. I think it will be even game but Florida will come out with the first win in this.

LAKings-San Jose 04:30 2,10 3,80 2,90
Sharks team scope: San Jose, which had an optional practice Wednesday before flying to Los Angeles, is healthier than it's been in weeks. Top-pair defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic (knee) and third-line forward Matt Nieto (broken knuckle) practiced all three days this week without setbacks and will return to the lineup; each missed the final 12 games of the regular season. "It's a huge plus for us, just to be healthy," forward Joel Ward said. "Hopefully it stays that way." The Sharks' top 13 forwards and top seven defensemen are healthy and available to play. Based on line rushes earlier in the week, veteran forward Dainius Zubrus will be a healthy scratch with Nick Spaling moving from the third to the fourth line, opening a spot for Nieto. Defenseman Dylan DeMelo, who played in the previous 12 games while Vlasic was out, will be a healthy scratch. Goaltender Martin Jones, who played for the Kings from 2013-15, will make his first start in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Kings team scope: Defenseman Alec Martinez, who missed the final four regular-season games with an undisclosed injury, skated Wednesday on the third pair with Rob Scuderi, and could return to the lineup. Sutter said Martinez and defenseman Matt Greene (shoulder surgery) would be available for Game 1 but that he won't decide whether they'll be in the lineup until the day of the game. Greene hasn't played since the third game of the season (Oct. 13). He skated Wednesday on a fourth pairing with Jamie McBain and likely will be scratched. Forward Marian Gaborik missed the final 28 regular-season games with a sprained knee. He practiced again Wednesday and spent time on the fourth line with Andy Andreoff and Trevor Lewis, but his availability is questionable. Forward Jordan Nolan (back surgery) missed the final 25 games and was not on the ice.
