Chickens may live for five to ten years, depending on the breed. The world's oldest chicken, a hen, died of heart failure at the age of 16 according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Roosters can usually be differentiated from hens by their striking plumage of long flowing tails and shiny, pointed feathers on their necks (hackles) and backs (saddle) which are typically of brighter, bolder colours than those of females of the same breed.
However, in some breeds, such as the Sebright, the rooster has only slightly pointed neck feathers, the same colour as the hen's. The identification can be made by looking at the comb, or eventually from the development of spurs on the male's legs (in a few breeds and in certain hybrids, the male and female chicks may be differentiated by colour).

I TESTIFY that despite my fears and prediction that Manchester United would crash out of the Champions League last night, I was rather pleased that they won and progressed, however, the two major downers that I experienced after they went 3-0 up was that once again they sat back and defended their vulnerable lead, instead of scoring again, and also the fact that FELLANI appears to fail to understand the principle of 'taking the ball to the corner flag, cos each time he did it, he looked to hold it and then move I towards the goal......NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Most theorists, like David Sklansky and Doyle Brunson suggest aggression as an important tool. It is also worth noting that aggressive play should not be confused with loose play. Loose players may play passively, resulting in a calling station, while tight players may play aggressively, referred to as a TAG. Aggression is called for in particular circumstances. Very strong starting hands should be played very aggressively most of the time. A very strong propositional hand - one that is more likely to win with a straight or a flush - is one of the hands that can be played for effect with an aggressive style. Chicken Housing
