The final table of the 2011 Partouche Poker Tour main event is now set. Just like the 2011 WSOP main event, the tournament has gone on a break and the final table will be played in November and it will be broadcasted live on Eurosport, and the chip leader is the British Titan Poker Pro Sam Trickett.
Sam Trickett has had a fantastic year with a second place in 2 Aussie Millions super-high roller tournaments and a 4th place in European Poker Tour. Trickett, however, is not the only successful poker player on the final table.

Three days of the Partouche Poker Tour's Main Event is now in the books, and tomorrow 47 players will continue the tough road towards the final table where a 1 million euro 1st prize is up for grabs. Chip leader is the PokerStars-sponsored pro Juan Maceiras with 800,000 chips. But there are a few more players with similar stacks, so it won't be easy for the Spanish poker pro.
The 2 biggest names with chips left are Juha Helppi and Sam Trickett. Sam Trickett is in 10th place at the moment, and Helppi can be found a bit further down in the field. Let's hope that at least one of them makes it through to the final table. It would defiantly add to the thrill!

Posted on 16 September 2011 by "T". |
Sami Kelopuro, better known at "LrsLzk" and "Larsluzak", is a living legend when it comes to high stakes poker online. He started playing online poker at a very young age and it didn't take long before he sat down at the highest NLH tables at PokerStars, different sites on the classic Prima Poker Network and Full Tilt and crushed most players who challenged him. Kelopuro's career has been booming ever since then and he has also managed to stay quite active throughout the years. This year, however, the Finnish poker pro has been quite anonymous at PokerStars nosebleed tables. In fact, he didn't start playing anything until April, and in the beginning of August he found himself down $177k and disappeared from the scene.

Next week it's time for World Poker Tour to make a stop in Malta. The tournament will be played at Portomaso Casino and it's the first major poker tournament on the small mediterranean island. However it remains unclear if WPT Malta will attract many big names since WPT Borgata Poker Open in New Jersey, USA, is played at the same time.

101 players still have chips left in the Partouche Poker Tour's Main Event. 63 of them will receive a share from the prize pool and the winner will take home €1 million. Now, the biggest names that will return today are Juha Helppi, Sam Tricket, Freddy Deeb and David Vamplew. But unfortunately none of them are in the very top of the field.
In a big chip lead is Oleksii Kovalchuk, from Ukraine, with 892,500. Kovalchuk is not a newcomer in the poker scene even though his name probably isn't familiar to most people. At this year's WSOP he took home the $2,500 NLH 6-max event, and earlier this year he also took home an event on the Russian Poker Tour and the IPT tour.

It only took 3 years before he had made hundreds of thousands dollars from poker and lived a luxurious life at different casinos around the globe. The biggest cash in his poker career came at the 2008 Asia Poker Tour when he took home the Main Event for $280,000.

It's high time to take a look at last week's online cash game results. We're not used to Ilari Sahamies on the TOP 5 winners list but very often on the TOP 5 losers list. Well, last week he was doing extremely well for once. In total, he won $816,812 last week and not to forget that he took down the biggest pot ever played at PokerStars.
Another Finnish poker player that did well last week was Jens "Jeans89" Kyllonen who won $281,862 - more than enough to secure a 3rd place on the winners list. Players that didn't do so well last week were Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Andreas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen. Both of them lost about $500,000 each. We can just hope that they will have better luck this week.

Last Sunday the Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, from UK, took home the World Championship of Online Poker 2nd chance $109 NLHE tournament. Not less than 2,528 players took part in the tournament and for the win Boeree received $40,448.
"Won it!!! Just took down the #WCOOP 2nd chance $100 tourney for $40,448. I love online poker.", Boeree wrote on her Twitter after the win.
Boeree has been running pretty well in online tournaments at PokerStars this year. In February, for example, she won the Sunday Warm-up and laid hands on $147,780. However, her most notable and biggest win so far in her career was at the 2010 EPT San Remo when she took down the Main Event for amazing €1,2500,000!

It took all night before the Epic Poker League 8-Max tournament (Main Event - $20,000 buy-in) had a winner, Mike "TimeX" McDonald. In the final hand McDonald called David Steickes all in with A4. Steicke had K2, and neither of them hit anything on the table so McDonald took home the tournament with Ace kicker.

The second ever Epic Poker League Main Event is down to a final table, and, as you can see below, it's not lacking in talented and well-known players. However, the biggest name on the final table is Erik Seidel who's had an amazing live tournament year. Seidel will bring 1,031,000 chips to the final table - only David Steicke has more chips - 1,059,000. Steicke and Isaac Baron (3rd place - 876,000 chips) will most probably be Seidel's biggest threats on the final table.

Ilari "Ziigmund"/"Ilari_FIN" Sahamies has done it again. This time, the Finnish poker pro attacked Anderas "Skjervoy" Torbergsen at PokerStars nosebleed tables. Ziigmund was playing heads-up with another player when "Skjervoy" wrote in the chat that he wanted to play heads-up. Ziigmund, who wasn't running so well at that point, found it so disturbing that he threatened to hit him and also told him things like "kill yourself ugly nit". Below is the full chat conversation.

The World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris Main Event player field (phew...) has been narrowed down to 61 players. Leading the way going into Day 3 is Franck Pepe with 432,000 chips. Pepe has a nice CV with lots of success in French poker tournaments. However, he's best known for his runner up finish in WPT Amneville last year.
Another player that will bring plenty of chips today is McLean Karr who run very well at the start of Day 2 and was up to 300k within the first couple of levels. Karr will bring 323,400 chips to Day 3. Play resumes at 14:00 local time today and the plan is to play down to 27 players. Ladies and gentlemen, it starts getting really exciting as we're one step closer to the final table where a €500,000 first prize is up for grabs

In the top of the field of remaining players are Mikko Sundell with 203,800, Yann Dion with 201,400, and the Day 1b chip leader Guiliaume Darcourt with 198,500 chips. These 3 players, as you can see above, are extremely close in chips and it will be interesting to see if all of them will survive Day 2.

Team PokerStars will not renew Tom McEvoy, Dennis Phillips and Bill Chen's contracts . The decision comes as a consequence of Black Friday when the site's American market was closed down. McEvoy, Phillips and Chen are 3 of Pokerstars least known players outside the north American market, so it didn't come as a big surprise that they had to go first. Yes, we can expect more PokerStars pros to not have their contracts renewed in the near future, and also we can expect the site to do further cut downs.

The second Epic Poker League $1,5k Pro/Am event came to and end about 7 hours ago. After 3 short days of play, the field had been narrowed down from 97 players to a final table with 9 players. Those 9 players were Am Le, Phil Hellmuth, Greg Mueller, Andreas Hoivold, Russell Rosenblum, Sean Getzwiller, Brandon Meyers, Jeremy Ausmus and Michael DiVita.
All of the finalist won a seat to the $20,000 8-Max Main Event that starts on on Tuesday - the second Main Event of the EPL's first season. Anyhow, it ended up being Greg Mueller who won the tournament. Mueller, a former hockey pro, is a professional poker player from Vancouver. He has cashed 19 times at the WSOP (2 bracelets) and 1 WPT final table. It will be interesting to see how things go for him on Tuesday!
