It was a while ago since Full Tilt Poker commented on Black Friday and the ongoing issues with their operation, however, 2 days ago, the site finally released a statement addressing a few questions currently being asked of them. Below is the full version of FTP's statement.
"As is obvious from the events that have transpired since April 15th, Full Tilt Poker was not prepared for the far-reaching, US government enforcement effort of Black Friday.

Posted on 01 September 2011 by "T". |
The EPT Barcelona main event has now been narrowed down to a final table with 8 players. Tomeu Gomila, from Spain, is still in the chip leader, however, his lead is even greater now than when Day 4 started. In total, he will 6,985,000 chips to the final table today - the 2 closest competitors have about 4.5 million each. So, Gomila is definitely the big favorite to take home the €850,000 first prize and the biggest poker tournament ever held in Spain.
The only big name who made it to the final table is the Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov. But things are not looking very good for him at the moment since he only has 690k left and the blinds will be 25,000 - 50,000 with a 5k ante. Well, anything is possible in the game of poker so we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Isildur1 had a fantastic winning streak at PokerStars nosebleed tables last week. However, like many times before, it didn't take long before a large chunk of the winnings ended up in other players hands. It all started with the session against Ilari Sahamies when he took home just about $1 million. On Sunday night, Blom started losing and ended up $300,000 minus for the day.

The third day of the EPT Barcelona main event is over and there are now only 24 players left. The first two days of the tournament were dominated by 2 French poker players, Guillaume Darcourt and Xavier Caruggi, but Day 3 was all about 2 Spanish poker players, Tomeu Gomilla and Raul Mestre, and they will return to the tables today with the biggest stacks.
Apart from Team PokerStars Pros Eugene Katchalov and Matthias De Meulder there aren't many known players left in the tournament, but this doesn't necessary mean that the rest of the tournament will be boring to follow. A first place prize of €850,000 is up for grabs and it comes along with a trophy (picture) and the honor to have won Spain's biggest poker tournament ever.

Last Sunday Viktor Blom crushed Ilari Sahamies at PokerStars nosebleed tables. In total, Sahamies lost about $1 million in the session against Blom, and it didn't take long before he commented on the session in his blog.
"I played very weak and it was fair that I lost my money. Only good thing is that those money went to Isildur, and not to any 'nit' guys. I was pretty unlucky, but Blom played much better than me, so no excuses." Sahamies wrote.

In case you missed it: Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies battled it out at PokerStars nosebleed tables last Sunday. The session went Isildur1's way as he managed to take just about $1 million from the Finnish poker pro. It was a horrible day for Sahamies, and it didn't take long before he commented on the session in his blog - "BIGGEST TILT EVER.."

Another day of the EPT Barcelona main event is now in the books, and the player field has been narrowed even further. 141 players will return to the tables in a few hours time and continue the trip towards the €850,00 first place prize. The chip leader still comes from France, however, it's no longer Guillaume Darcourt but Xavier Caruggi with 577,700.
Darcourt, the Day 2 chip leader, has dropped to 7th place and will bring 380,100 chips today. The two biggest names that will join Darcourt and Caruggi in the top of the field today are Vanessa Selbst (USA) - 364,500 chips, Victor Ramadin (USA) - 252,900 chips.
We will return with an update as soon as Day 3 comes to an end.

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom didn't do so well in the EPT Barcelona main event since he was sent packing during the early stages of the tournament. However, he's probably not crying out loud since he won about $1 million a few days ago - most of it from the Finnish poker pro Ilari Sahamies. In total, Blom has now won $1,7M this month and it's probably just a matter of days before he crosses the $2 million milestone - something that only Gus Hansen has accomplished this year.

When 2 days of the APPT Queensland main event had been played there were 21 players left - only 3 of them were not from Australia and New Zealand. Marcel Schreiner, from Germany, was one of them and he had more than double the chips than the player in second place - Tom Grigg from Australia. Just like many expected, Schreiner's chip lead was too great for anyone to be able stop him from shipping the tournament and the first prize of NZ$94,300. A big congratulations to the winner!

The EPT Bacelona main event began on Saturday and already the 2 starting days are in the books. In total, the main event attracted a field of 811 players and 407 of them have chips left and will return to the tables today. Guillaume Darcourt, from France, finished 35th in the World Series of Poker main event this summer and now he's the EPT Barcelona chip leader with 195,300. As you can see in the picture, it's not hard to spot out the chip leader among the other players.

The American was found quilty of armed robbery and was sentenced to 3-11 years in prison. Caleo was arrested already in February, a few days after he had sold a cranberry (a $25k chip) to an undercover cop. At that time he was at Bellagio and gambled away chips from the robbery.

Daniel Negreanu - just like many other pros - has left America and moved to Canada in order to play poker online. Negreanu is now located in Toronto and has already taken care of all necessary paper work etc. In his latest blog "Boy Did I Miss Online Poker!" he wrote the following:
"It took a couple days, but I successfully set up shop in Toronto so that I can play on PokerStars again. I already had the Canadian passport, but just like everyone else, I needed to attain the necessary documents then wait for the call from PokerStars security to verify the phone number, and voila! I'm back in action!
I jumped right into some $25-$50 PLO 6 max deep with ante games, and within 5 hands I lost my first buy in HAHA. Had an open ended straight draw/flush draw versus top set and didn't hit. Oh well, it didn't hurt a bit, I was just glad to be playing again."

bellagio, black friday, las vegas, refurbishment.
Posted on 25 August 2011 by "T". |
Money keeps on rolling in the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas. And still there are no signs that Black Friday has harmed the poker scene over there since, for example, the 2011 WSOP saw many record fields and cash games - all over town - were running hot around the clock. Apart from that many poker rooms are doing well right now, the hotels and casinos (many of them offers poker tournaments and cash games) are also doing very well. As a result of the good financial times in Vegas lately new hotels and casinos are being built while some are being refurbished for huge amounts.
One of the latest hotels to undergo a facelift is the classic Bellagio on the strip. The owners of Bellagio have invested $70,000,0000 to refurbish 2500 rooms in the main building. 500 of the rooms are already finished and in use. Every room has mattresses in Kashmir and a 40' flatscreen TV. If everything goes according to the plan the refurbishment should be done mid December.

For quite some time different rumors about the Canadian PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu's love life have circulated on the web. Some of these rumors have been that he's gay and also androgynous. Other rumors, from more trustworthy sources, have claimed that he's dating 2008 Miss Hungury, Krisztina Polgár. This was also confirmed by Daniel Negreanu in an interview a few days ago. According to Daniel, they have common friends, and during the 2011 WSOP Krisztina came up to him and said hello. It didn't take long before their new friendship lead into a romance.
Apart from being a model, Polgár plays quite a lot of tournament poker as well. Her biggest tournament cash came back in 2010 when she finished 4 in People's Poker Tour (Hungary) for $20,995 - money Daniel Negreanu use as buy-in once in a while.

After a not-so-good weekend at PokerStars nosebleed tables, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom was back in business on Tuesday night. Blom played $100/$200 Pot Limit Omaha against a number of regulars - most of them from the Nordic countries. Anyhow, the young Swede had a fantastic day and managed to take down quite a few big pots. The biggest one, however, was against the Finnish poker pro Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies and a player called "refaelamit".

April 2011: D.C. officials said that they are planning to set up 20-30 online gambling "hot spots" in hotels, bars, clubs and other venues across the city by around September 1. The idea with these gambling "hot spots" was that poker players from all over the U.S. could play online poker legally against each other.
On August 22, in an interview with The Washington Post, Phil Hellmuth, winner of 11 World Series of Poker bracelets and Hall of Fame inductee, spoke his mind about D.C.'s legal online initiative.Hellmuth said there are hundred of thousands of American gamblers looking for a safe reliable online option after the shuttering of PokerStars, Full Tilt and Absolute Poker. However, he said that there are too few people in D.C. for it to work.

The American poker pro David "Chino" Rheem became a part of history when he won the first ever Epic Poker League Main Event last week and took home $1 million, thus taking his career earning to impressive $5,37 million. But the notable win quickly fell into the shade of the "news" that Rheem owes a lot of money to different poker players. Yesterday, the Epic Poker League crew sent out a press release where they write that Rheem has violated their rules of behavior - even though his gambling debts arose before the league started.
In the press release one can also read that EPL has formed a behavior committee that will monitor Rheem and make sure that he pays off his debts with tournament and cash game winnings - regardless from which part of the world the winnings come from. The monitoring will stop as soon as Rheem has paid back all the money.
