WSOP Main Event Day 1B kicked off on Sunday and gathered a field of 2,144 players. Once concluded, some 1,300 players are set to go on to Day 2B. The chip leader is a pretty unknown player called Trey Luxemburger who managed to finish the day with 193,450 chips, closely follwed by Sarkis Hakobian on 190,125 and Ryan Buckholtz on 189,000.

Day 1B saw some familiar faces that managed to survive to Day 2B. Among these are Martin Staszko, Antoine Saout, Kevin Schaffel and Dennis Phillips. Some of the unfortunate poker profiles that were busted out on Day 1 were Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier,Paul Volpe, Chris Moorman, and “Doc” Sands.

Main Event Day 1C is expected to be have the highest number of participants of all Day 1's. In order to beat last years number of players, another 3,438 participants need to enroll.

The 2014 WSOP's Main Event kicked off this weekend on Saturday. There were 771 players that sat down at the tables at the Rio for Day 1A of this year's $10,000,000 1st place guarantee event. No other than the legendary 2005 main event winner Joe Hachem kicked off the event by announcing the classic "Shuffle up and Deal".

Day 1A gathered some famous poker faces. No less than 5 previous gold bracelet winners were among the participants: Tom McEvoy, Johnny Chan, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Merson, and Ryan Riess.

Once Day 1A concluded, the chip leader was Sweden's Martin Jacobson who bagged 200,100 chips for round 2. The young Swede has earned a total of $1,204,983 in WSOP winnings where the major part comes from finishing on 6th place in 2013's Event #47: One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em where he won $807,427.

On Thursday, after three action-packed days of poker, Phillip Hui had overcame a field of 457 runners to nab his first gold bracelet and the biggest payday of his career ($286,976) in Event #59: Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better!

No bracelet number 14 for Mr. Phil Hellmuth this time as he ended up in 6th place in Event #61: Seven Card Stud ($10,000 buy-in). Well, a big congratulations to Matt "Grapes" Grapenthien for besting an extremly tough field of 102 players to claim his first gold bracelet and $268,473 in prize money!

Grepenthien, a well respected online cash game grinder with some minor live tournament cashes dating back to 2004, overcame multiple chip disadvantages during the 9-hour final table, including the heads-up match against Todd Brunson.

The $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship attracted a field of 102 players when it started two days ago. Leading the way into the third and final day of the tournament is Todd Brunson, son of poker legend Doyle Brunson.

1,475 players turned up for the $1,500 Mixed-Max event when it kicked off on Monday. After three long days of poker, long-time pro Jared Jaffe had all the chips in play after eliminating fellow American pro Mike Watson in second place. Jaffe received $405,428 in prize money and earned his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet!

On Wednesday, the final 16 of 2,525 players returned to the poker tables for Day 3 of Event #56: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em. Five players were sent packing during the first two levels of play and Bastian Fischer finished eleventh soon after.

The two tables then became an unofficial final table of 10 players until Matt Salsberg shoved with AK on the board 610J into the 1010 of Raymond Henson. The last two cards were to no help for Mr. Salsberg who finished in 10th place for $23,202.

The final table of Event #57: The Big One for One Drop ($1,000,000 buy-in) is set after two days of intensive play! Day 2 began with 31 players and Sam Trickett out in front. After 13 hours of poker action, Rick Salmon (FILM PRODUCER, ACTOR, TELEVISION PRODUCER, ENTREPRENEUR, PROFESSIONAL POKER PLAYER) bagged up the largest stack (23,575,000 chips) amongst the nine survivors.

Florian Langmann Wins Event #54: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better

A big congratulations to Germany's Florian Langmann who bested a field of 474 runners in Event #54: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low for a $297,650 payday!

The 31-year-old from pro from Hamburg, who has been coming to the WSOP for several years, had already accumulated $2 million in live tournament cashes before the win, but this was his first bracelet victory and first final table appearance at the World Series of Poker.

German poker professional Johannes Strassmann, who went missing last week in Slovenia, was confirmed dead a few days ago after a DNA test. Strassmann was visiting some friends in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana and was reported missing on June 21.

Day 1 of the second-ever $1,000,000 BIG ONE for ONE DROP came to a close just an hour ago. A total of 42 players entered the tournament for $1,000,000 each and 31 will return tomorrow and fight for a slice of the $37,333,338 prize pool (top 8 players will get paid).

John Hennigan Wins Event #46: The Poker Players Championship

The $50,000 Poker Players Championship, one of the most prestigious tournaments of the 2014 World series of Poker, concluded on Saturday after five long days of play. The last man standing at the end of it all was Johh Hennigan, a long-time pro from Philadelphia, who received his third gold bracelet along with $1,517,767 in prize money! This win marked Hennigan's third straight cash in the Poker Players' Championship, including a third place finish last year!
