On Wednesday, a Roman Catholic priest was placed on five years' probation and ordered to repay around $240,000 that he had stolen from his former workplace to fuel a gambling addiction. Rev. Stephen M. Gemme, 45, the former pastor of St. Bernadette Parish in Northboro, stole the money from the church and its school over a five-year span.

The world's largest poker site nor the long-time American pro have mentioned anything about the split, but many believe the break up occurred at the end of January this year and that it was yet another move by new owner Amaya Gaming to cut expenses.

Brian Altman and Mark Dube had 72% of the chips in play when the final table of the World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open kicked off on Wednesday. The two Americans continued doing well on the final table and ended up playing heads-up within just a few hours. The 1-on-1 battle lasted for over two hours, with Altman being out in front the majority of the time.

On Friday, a stabbing over an alleged gambling $5 debt took place in a parking lot in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The accused, 51-year-old Anthony Lemar Mells (picture), stabbed a man he known for several years twice in the stomach and once in the head.

On Saturday, Dany Parlafes from Bucharest, Romania, sat down at the final table of the EPT Deauville Main Event with 44 per cent of the chips in play. Parlafes eventually made it to heads-up against Ognyan Dimov, who brought the second largest stack to the final table.

The EPT Deauville Main Event final table of six is set after four intensive days of play. Just like all previous days, Day 4 ended with a brand new chip leader. This time it was 30-year-old Dany Parlafes from Bucharest, Romania, who bagged 7,585,000 and the chip lead after an exciting day of poker. Day 3 saw the return of 36 players, including notables such as Kevin MacPhee, Guillaume Darcout, Benjamin Pollak, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Just as planned, the tournament director called it a day when 16 players remained on Day 3.

In 2012, former Full Tilt Poker owner Howard Lederer revealed to PokerNews that former Full Tilt Poker Pro Erick Lindgren owed the company $2 million dollars. Lederer said that Lindgren received a double-credited $2 million loan in April 2011 by mistake, but the two-time WPT and WSOP champion never gave the extra $2 million received.

Georgios Kapalas is the chip leader with 1,398,000 among the final 36 players of the EPT Deauville Main Event. The Greek pro missed this tournament for the first time ever last year when his fellow countryman Sotirios Koutoupas bested a field of 671 players (and denied Eugene Katchalov the triple crown heads-up) for €614,000. The schedule for the 46th annual World Series of Poker was released on Monday. The tournament series will run from May 27 to July 14 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The schedule contains a record 68 bracelet events and nearly $200 million in guaranteed prize money.

On Monday, there was a pretty interesting article in The Daily Mail on a family of four in the UK that quit their jobs to become professional poker players. The family members told the British newspaper that they take part in three competitions a week, and they claim the secret to their success is a mathematical formula.

The $250,000 Challenge is currently underway and there are only three players remaining of twenty-five entries: Doug Polk, Mike McDonald and Phil Ivey, who is in the big lead with 3.7 million chips to McDonald's 1.6 and Polk's 795k. Believe it or not but Ivey won this event both in 2012 and 2014. Now, he has a fantastic opportunity of winning a third title! Pretty amazing when you think about it.

On Tuesday, it was announced on World Series of Poker's website that the Main Event's $10,000,000 guarantee, which was introduced in 2014, will be removed. The main reason for this change is that the steep payout structure of last year's Main Event received a lot of critisim from the poker community.
