Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the American evidence that Syrian forces used chemical weapons, calling the suggestion "utter nonsense."

"While the Syrian army is on the offensive, saying that it is the Syrian government that used chemical weapons is utter nonsense," Putin told journalists in Vladivostok, according to Russia's Interfax news agency.

He urged the United States to present its evidence to the UN Security Council and cautioned President Obama about the consequences of getting involved.

I know a lot of military men & women from different parts of the world.
Most of them agree that Canadian military personal are some of the very best trained soldiers in the world but in general they would be much better off with better equipment.

Agreed!

I certainly don't have much good to say about our current Prime Minister,...but I will say one thing positive about the guy...

I'm glad to see the guy upgrade our military assets. It was getting a little embarrasing that our troops basically had to 'hitch-hike' to various places in the world... Big Smile<lol...

G'day mate

Dude the last post made me laugh.
It made me remember when the US asked us to help them "liberate" Iraq.
Do you recall that the main condition for our troops involvement was that the US had to transport most of our equipment over to the area.
It was embarrassing and yet funny too

Just caught this latest ad for the Army, and was compelled to fire up the laptop.

Basically, shows a guy pulling into/out of (I forget) the driveway of his mansion, complete with wrought-iron gates opening automatically. He's on his way to (or from) work in a gargantanormous skyscraper, shiny floors, sparkly walls, yadda yadda. Sits at his power desk b/c he's the CEO of 7-11 after all.

He and a couple of other high-powered CEO types happen to have been in the Army sometime in their lives. Therefore, the logic goes, if YOU join the Army, you too will have the skills needed to run a Fortune 500 company. Namely, getting up before dawn and..... and.....oh you get the idea.

While I know that being in the Army teaches people discipline, perseverance, and all sorts of other honorable qualities, I'm irritated by the logic used for this ad. After all, I'm sure there are many high-powered execs who, for example, didn't graduate from college, or attended public school, and yet still managed to do well. Being an executive also involves a lot of politics and luck; it's not always a reward for being the hardest worker in the company.

It's also the way the Army is appealing to greed as opposed to American pride, or the basic desire to better oneself by going to college w/o otherwise being able to afford it. That's a little disturbing, especially when it's such a stretch to say that Army recruits go right into high-powered positions.... or even that that's the point.

Anyway, seeing the material rewards used as bait just turns my stomach for some reason. I suspect that the CEOs had other advantages besides having been in the Army....

TWO THINGS MY LEARNED FRIENDS..............

Will we see Canadian troops going into combat with Syria?

The Candy Store has closed down and that is the kind of complete and utter Bullsh!t that belongs here...a bit like the concept of bombing Syria when no one seems to know what has really happened.

Its a bit like you being convicted for murder when you havent done it, but someone who knows the murder victim saying that you did, with no other evidence considered.

If you’ve never heard of 40 Days of Dating, which is sweeping the Internet by storm like a photo of a fashion blogger eating pizza in her underwear and a Brooklyn Nets hat, two key demo early millennials—they are graphic designers based in New York City, natch—found themselves single at the same time. So they decided to rage a war against the difficulty of finding romance in the city by dating each other for 40 days, leaving us greatly indebted to them for asking the tough questions and also a really beautifully designed website for us to follow their every blessed day together. Says the website: “Can they help each other, or will they fall into their same habits? Will they damage their friendship? What if they fall in love.

G'day mate
Well I am sorry that the closing of the candy store upsets you.
It seemed to me that the mobsters were screaming very load that they wanted the store gone.
I mean 10 votes in a row all voting to close the candy store.
The last time I looked there was not a single vote to keep it open.
I never voted personally because I wanted the mobster to have a fair vote.
I will look back in on the poll to see if anything has changed but it seems very clear.
The mobster community does not want it any more.

We are told by many Christians that if you don't "believe" and "worship" god before you die, you will go to Hell. The same Christians believe that God loves us. Huh? Let's get this straight - a God created us (and we know we are created 'cause we are too complicated to have just evolved) - and he screwed up along the way. His creation went off the rails. So he sent part of himself (his son) to earth to teach the good word then deliberately get himself killed (commit suicide). But to prove he's really god, he came back to life again but only for a short while - why isn't he still here? And if you don't accept this story, the big threat is that you'll be tortured in hell for eternity. How many Christians ask themselves the obvious question? Why do all this? Why make a creation that can't behave? Why not just start again? Or why not just tweak the gene pool so future humans do behave?

"Bull", meaning nonsense, dates from the 17th century,[1] while the term "bullsh1t" has been used as early as 1915 in American slang,[2] and came into popular usage only during World War II. The word "bull" itself may have derived from the Old French boul meaning "fraud, deceit" (Oxford English Dictionary).[2] The term "horseshit" is a near synonym. The South African English equivalent is "bull dust". Few corresponding terms exist in other languages, with the significant exception of German Bockmist, literally "billy-goat sh1t" Confused

Brad Pitt can always get hearts a-racing and tongues a-wagging, which is gold for any marketer he aligns with. In the case of his $7 million endorsement of iconic French perfume Chanel No. 5, Pitt's deal was all the rage before he showed his face in a single print ad. Several recently released video teasers used his voice, but gave only a side-view of his world-renowned hunkiness. Now here's the full commercial, shot in black and white by filmmaker Joe Wright. The reaction is all over the board in the more than 600 comments (and counting) on YouTube. Critiques range from "hilarious," "pretentious" and "affected" to "completely beautiful" and "OMG can everybody just STFU and enjoy Brad Pitt! Ugh he's perfection." Many of us fall into the latter camp, even if the ad is an awkward head-scratcher. What in the world does it mean?

Here's "scientific" myths that we believe in:

- Cracking knuckles will not get arthritis. This bone disease may be caused by other factors such as age, injury, obesity and genetics.
- It is not true that people are born with a finite number of brain cells - they are produce in process of neurogenesis in several brain regions in adulthood.- Memory of a goldfish is actually totally OK. They can remember for months, not just a few seconds as most people think.
- Dogs and cats can see not just black and white, but they see blue and green.
- Most educated people in the early Middle Ages knew that the earth was round and not flat.- There is no photographic memory, there is only people who remember well. No one can remember so much visual information as a camera.
- Microwave does not cause cancer. Only some types of radiation causing it. Solar radiation can cause melanoma.
- Your hair will be thicker by shaving. It's a visual impression, because after shaving hair is cut straight and not tapering towards the top like after plucking. Therefore sharper.
- Stomach does not need seven years to digest gum. Stomach does not digest, but gum need a few hours to a normal body ejected through the digestive tract.
