However, Abbas will retain his post of the head of a Palestinian state. The reasons for the resignation of 80-year-old policy of not disclosed. In the post successor Abbas regarded the PLO's chief negotiator organization known politician Saeb Erekat. The Palestinian National Council has called for elections within a month to form a new executive committee of the PLO.
