In case you missed it. The 18th edition of Full Tilt Online Poker Series started a few days ago. 4 events have already found their winners. However, there's a long way to go as we have 30 events ahead of us, including the prestige full main event on November 21 - $600+$40 NLH - $3M guarantee. In total there is more than $19,000,000 up for grabs in FTOPS XVII. There are satellites for just a few bucks running till the very last event, so it's doesn't have to cost you much to play in the big tournaments and have the chance of winning some serious cash.
So what about miniFTOPS XVII? Between December 8-19 it will be played and, just like in big brother FTOPS XVII, some serious cash (more than $6M) is up for the grabs in 34 events to 1/10th of the buy-in. Good luck to everyone who takes part! We really hope that one of our mob members will take down one of the events! That would be simply amazing!

The Finnish poker pro Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies started 2010 with a few winning sessions and it looked very good for a while. But suddenly the poker gods turned against him and since then he has lost big almost every single month.
Last night Ziigmund took on Daniel "jungleman12" Cates in Pot Limit Omaha session, which only lasted 300 hands. Ziigmund lost $300,000 in this session and couldn't hold back his anger after they stopped playing. This is what he wrote in the chat.

Posted on 11 November 2010 by "T". |
Tom Dwan's blog has been quite dead in the past 3 months. However, he made a bigger update of his blog a few days ago. In this blog post Dwan writes about what he has been up to in the past couple of weeks - filming for Poker After Dark, a wedding, halloween, being sick, lots of traveling etc. The most interesting reading, however, is what he had to say about the 2 challenges against Patrik Antonius and jungleman.
"I have 2 challenges open, both of which havent had much play in the last few weeks. I was busy with wsope, then traveling a bunch- but in the next few days/weeks i should be putting in a ton of hands with jungleman. With regards to the patrik challenge, i want to clear up the thought that he's stalling or doesn't want to pay if he loses or something like that. Patrik and i talk a lot and he's definitely done nothing wrong by me in the slightest. I don't know if we'll be finishing soon but hopefully we will, and sorry to the people watching that challenge that its gone on for so long."

Posted on 10 November 2010 by "T". |
After a quite long break, just like the 2010 WSOP Main Event, the final table of the prestige filled Partouche Poker Tour was played last weekend. It ended up being the American Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst who survived a field of 7 opponent and laid hands on the first prize of €1,300,000. Now you might wonder why the final table only included 8 players. The reason for this is that one of the players was disqualified from the tournament.
Ali Tekintamgac, the WPT Barcelona winner, has for a long time been accused of cheating, but no one has ever been able to prove anything - until a few days ago. The tournament crew went through video clips from the beginning of the tournament and found out that Tekintamgac had used false media representatives and bloggers to help him with information on his opponents hole cards. Let's just hope, for Ali Tekintamgac's own sake, that he wasn't cheating at WPT Barcelona as well.

It ended up being Travis Lutes from Cameron Park, CA, United States who took home the tournament and the first place prize of $95,253. It was a very well deserved win and the prize money probably will come useful since he only won $367 before.

Jonathan Duhamel, 23, from Boucherville, Quebec became the first Canadian citizen in history to win a world championship. Two Canadians had previously finished in the runner-up spot in the 41-year-history of world championships. Tuan Lam second place in 2007, and Howard Goldfarb (Jerry Yang won) back in 1995 (Dan Harrington won). For the win Duhamel received the first place prize of $8,944,31 and his first WSOP bracelet. A big congratulations to the new world champion of poker!

Nesrin Kourdourli, WPT Amneville.
Posted on 05 November 2010 by "T". |
48 of 542 players survived the 2 first days of the WPT Amneville Main Event and returned to their seats to play Day 3 a couple hours ago, however, 8 of these players have already been knocked out. It feels like the final table is just a few hours away now.
Chip leader at the moment is Nesrin Kourdourli who really made a name for herself in Day 2 of the tournament. Now, she's is aiming to reach the final table with a healthy stack and she probably wont let anyone get in her way. Only two PartyPoker online qualifiers are left, and as we mentioned in the previous WPT Amneville update, they have the chance to win $1,000,000 extra if they take down the tournament.

The danish poker pro Gus Hansen has really been running good at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables in the past few weeks. Yesterday, he took on the finnish poker pro Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and DrugsOrMe in a $500/$1000 PLO Cap game.
Both and Ziigmund and DrugsOrMe left the table a few hours later with six-figure losses. After this Gus Hansen won $55k in a shorter session of 7-game poker. Gus has won over $2 million in the last four weeks, now he "only" needs to win another $1.5 million before he's even for the year.

Posted on 04 November 2010 by "T". |
The two starting days of WPT Amneville have already been played and soon it's time for Day 2 to start. 242 players of 541 have survived so far. 54 of these players will return home with at least €7,200, which is approximately double the buy-in - but probably nothing any of the players are aiming for as the winner of the tournament gets €433,000 (+ entry to WPT Championship at Bellagio, the runner-up will get €229,000 (+ entry to WPT Championship at Bellagio) and the one ends up in third place will walk away with €161,000.
PartyPoker has 60 players at the event including Team PartyPoker pros Dragan Galic and Bodo Sbrzesny. If one of the 10 internet qualifiers wins the tournament, he/she will get another $1 million from PartyPoker. Would be pretty amazing if that happened!

The S wede Erik "DIN_FRU" Sagtrom had a rough night at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables last Monday. In a $500/$1000 H.O.R.S.E. heads-up session against Brian "sbrugby" Townsend, he lost $112,000 in just 675 hands. On the other hand this session probably wont affect Sagstrom's bankroll and game all that much since he's up about $1 million this year and has been a winner for the past few years online.
For Brian Townsend, however, the win must feel good as he has lost around $4 million dollars this year. In other words, every "nickel n' dime" will help to minimize his losses for 2010 and also strengthen his self-esteem at the poker tables.

Jeff Forrest, WPT Foxwoods.
Posted on 03 November 2010 by "T". |
It ended up being Jeff Forrest who took home the main event of WPT Foxwoods. For the win he received nothing less than $548,752, the biggest win in his poker career. This is how the last hand was played out.
Forrest raises to 200,000, Dave Inselberg calls. The flop comes 9 8 5 and Inselberg checks. Forrest bets 250,000, Inselberg raises to 600,000. Forrest thinks for about 10 seconds and then he says, "I'm all in". Inselberg thinks for a few moments before he says, "I call."
Forrest shows Q Q for an overpaid, Inselberg flips over 9 6 for top pair with a gunshot straight draw.
The turn card is the Q , Forrest improves to a set. Inselberg needs a 7 to stay alive.
The river card is the A and it's all over! Forrest wins WPT Foxwoods with 3 of a kind queens.

Tom Dwan had a fantastic month at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables last month. Now, he's closing in on 2010's biggest winner and the man he's up against in the new durrrr challenge, Daniel "Jungleman12" Cates. Tom Dwan won $991k in October and in total he's up $3.95 million this year - "only" $300,000 separates him and Cates.
Incase you missed it, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, the finnish poker pro, had a few very, very bad poker days during October and he also ended up being October's biggest loser online. It was quite expected that he would grab the not-so-glorious top spot in the list below. We can only hope that he gets back on track soon again so he don't end up like Gus Hansen. Well, Gus has been doing okay lately, but as you can see in the list below, his name is nowhere to be found. Not a good sign since he's been playing very well.

Posted on 01 November 2010 by "T". |
Daniel Negreanu, the canadian Team PokerStars Pro, had a big chip lead when the final table of the EPT Vienna Main Event began yesterday. He didn't only have the chance of taking down his first EPT Title and €700k - but also to regain the top spot on the all-time money list which he recently lost to Phil Ivey. But Daniel's dream was crushed after 10 hours of play and he ended up in 4th place.
After Daniel was out of the game it stood clear that an relatively unknown player would become the EPT Vienna Champ. It ended up being 20 year old Michael "mae9690" Eiler, an economics student and PokerStars Sunday Million winner, who took care of the first place prize of €700,000.

It's probably no news to many of you that Tony G likes to complain and fight with other players when the cameras are rolling. Sometimes he has a point, however, he usually doesn't make his point in a nice, friendly way. In the video clip below, Andrew Robl and Daniel Negreanu are playing heads-up, while they are about to finish the hand a very frustrated Tony G gets up for his chair and starts walking out of the room while he's complaining and whining about Robl taking too long to act all the time. The tournament director calls the clock on Robl after this.
Daniel Negreanu and the rest of the players at the table are not getting involved at this point. But after that Robl throws away the best hand, Daniel Negreanu can't help to show him that he was bluffing. Daniel is also thanking Tony G for calling the clock, which obviously made Robl stressed. Robl doesn't seem to be happy at all with the situation but he decides to be quiet.

2010 wsop main event, michael Mizrachi, november 9.
Posted on 29 October 2010 by "T". |
The final table of the 2010 WSOP Main Event is getting closer and closer and it's high time to take a look at some of the finalists. We start with the most interesting one. Michael "the Grinder Mizrachi, who's a well-known face in the poker world a lot thanks to his participance in High Stakes Poker, will for sure be one the most interesting players to follow on the final table.
Michael Mizrachi will bring a 14,450,000 stack (7th place) with him to the final table on November 9. His biggest threats on the final table are Jonathan Dumhamel and John Dolan. Both Dumhamel and Dolan have monster stacks and, assuming that they continue playing the same way as before the final table, they wont be afraid to use them against the rest of the players who have equal stacks and are far behind. However, I'm quite sure that they will avoid playing against Mizrach because of his final table experience.

278 of 587 players survived Day 1 a and b and returned to play Day 2 of the EPT Vienna Main Event yesterday. At the end of the day 80 players remained, all of them are in the money, guaranteed at least €8,000 each but of course everyone is aiming for the first prize of €700,000!
In the lead is no one else than the canadian poker guru Daniel Negreanu with a 893,000 stack. This will of course make the tournament super interesting to follow from now on. The chip leader from Day 2, the Londoner Laurance Houghton, fell out of the field in no-time after he lost two all ins with pocket pairs vs higher pocket pairs.
Another player who was sent packing during Day 2 was Tom "durrrr" Dwan. For a while, after he had boosted his stack from 60k to 160k, it almost looked like Tom Dwan would be one of the players who made it to Day 3 of the tournament, but unfortunately he lost two coinflip all ins and shortly after he went out with A2 vs Stavros Kalfas' AJ. Dwan has not cashed in an EPT event since 2005.

An unknown player with the alias "DrugsOrMe" had a fantastic day at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables the other day. First he took on Gus Hasen, who's the biggest winner online in the past 2 weeks, and won over $150k in a $500/$1000 PLO Heads-up game. Then he decided to play some 6-handed $200/$400 PLO against harrington25, Urindanger1, URnotINdanger2 and a few other big names in the poker world.
DrugsOrMe winning streak continued against them as well and he managed to get away with a $210,284 profit at the end of the day. DrugsOrMe started showing up at Full Tilt's high stakes tables in the end of the summer and ever since he has been a winner. In total he has won $890k this year and probably it will be over a million before 2010 comes to an end.

The two starting days of the EPT Vienna Main event are already set. 278 of a 587 (from 48 countries) men strong field have made it to Day 2 of the tournament. In the lead is Laurence Houghton from London, UK with 190,300, closely behind him are Szymon Pieszczoch (183,000) and Claudio Simaldoni (181,000). The Day 2 field includes a few big names as well - Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, EPT London High Roller winner Nacho Barbero, Daniel Minieri and Sebastian Ruthenberg as well as Team PokerStars SportStars Boris Becker and Fatima Moreira De Melo.
It will be interesting to see if the Londoner, who seems to be very relaxed in the photo, can keep up the good game in Day 2 of the tournament, which kicks off in a few hours with blinds 500/1000 + 100 ante. Personally, as usual, I hope for some big names to climb up to the top of the field *fingers crossed*.

It's not long ago since William Thorson, the swedish poker pro, announced that he was leaving Team PokerStars Pro after 2 successful years. Now, about a month later, PokerStars announces that they have found someone to replace him. Theo Jorgensen from Denmark is PokerStars' new pro who will get to travel around the globe and play with the rest of Team PokerStars Pro - for free!
Thanks to some fantastic results at WPT, EPT and WSOP over the past few years, Theo Jorgensen has really created a name for himself in the poker world. For some of you, the alias "THEDONKEY01" might sound a bit familiar? That's no one else than Theo Jorgensen playing at the nosebleed tables online against some of the best poker players in the world.
Best of luck to Theo Jorgensen and his future with Team PokerStars Pro.

We are quite used to read and hear about the canadian poker pro Sorel Mizzi and his success in different live tournaments such as EPT, WPT & WSOP, however, it's not all that often that we hear about his success online. Last Sunday, Sorel Mizzi had a fantastic day in 2 of the biggest Sunday tournaments at PokerStars.
He survived a field of 4,786 players in the Sunday Warm-Up and grabbed the first place prize of $149,737, then he reached the final table in the $215+R NLH $150k Guarantee. However, he finished in 4th place ($14,507) and instead it was Paresh "Dana Gordon" Jain who won the tournament for $34,000.

It seems like Gus Hansen has found his very best game again, and for the second week in a row, he's the biggest winner online. $665k, that's how much "The Great Dane" won last week to become the biggest winner - no other player was even close of winning as much. We can only hope that Gus' winning streak continues and that he win back some more of what he has lost in the past couple of years.
Di "Urindanger" Dang, the american poker pro, has been running quite bad lately, however, last week was a nightmare week for him as he lost over half a million dollars. But "Urindanger" was not the only one who lost big last week. Rami "arbianight" Bouka, also from US, had a cold week at the poker tables and he ended up losing $275k.

Randal Flowers, 22, is the youngest player ever to win multiple WPT titles after he won the WPT Festa al Lago Main Event this morning. Hand #96: Level 30: Blinds: 80-000/160,000, 15,000 ante
Flowers raises to 333,000, and Benvenuti calls. The flop comes 9 6 5 . Benvenuti checks, Flowers bets 420,000. Benvenuti goes all in.

An american with the alias "zeko1985" got tired of spending long hours in front of the computer and decided to program his very own poker robot. The poker robot was doing extremely well almost straight away and in 30 months the robot had won over $220,000 for him.
Many players who had played against zeko1985 suspected that something was going on and decided to contact the poker site in question. The poker site's fraud team started investigating and concluded that zeko1985 indeed was using a robot and therefore they closed the account and confiscated a huge amount of cash.
