Crockfords' lawyers successfully convinced the high court in London that Ivey's edge-sorting technique, which the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner used to win £7.7 million playing Baccarat last year, wasn't legitimate. Judge John Mitting said that Ivey's technique used was considered as cheating under civil law.

According to The Daily Journal, two men received jail terms on Friday for running an illegal poker club at a women's fitness centre in Runnemede, New Jersey.

A judge gave a 364-day jail term to Ryan Dion, 33, and a 270-day term to Thomas Rand, 43. The men must also serve three years of probation. Three other men were also sentenced to probation for working as dealers and cashiers at the poker club.

Isai Scheinberg, PokerStars' founder and former owner, outlasted a field of 14 other players to claim the £13,850 first prize in the UK & Ireland Poker Tour Isle of Man High Roller (£2,220 buy-in). Scheinberg was extremly anonymous during his 14 years at PokerStars (the company was sold to Amay Gamging for $4.9 billion a few months ago).

Instead of being in the spotlight he preferred to let the cameras and media focus on the players. Let's hope that we will see and hear more about him now after his largest recorded tournament cash!

Josh Hart defeated a field of 402 players over five days of play to win the 2014 PokerStars UK and Ireland Poker Tour Isle of Man (located in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland -  PokerStars has its headquarters there) Main Event. Hart, a 24-year old online pro from England, collected £57,484 and the Isle of Man UKIPT trophy for his victory.

In August 2012, Phil Ivey won a massive £7.7 million playing Punto Banco at Crockford's. The 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner asked to have his winnings wired, but the London-based casino only transferred his initial £1m stake as they suspected him of cheating by using an edge-sorting technique (exploited errors in a deck of playing cards in order to gain an advantage against the house). Ivey admitted that he had used the strategy and said that it wasn't cheating.

Just about a month ago, PokerStars parted ways with Latin American players Humberto Brenes, Angel Guillen and Jose "Nacho" Barbero. Now, the world's largest poker site has cut ties with another three pros, including 2009 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Cada, who has over 10 million in live tournament earnings.

2012 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Greg Merson has been seen wearing the WSOP patch since he parted ways with Ivey Poker in June, and that has obviously started some rumors. However, poker fans can now stop wondering and speculating as it has become official that Merson has been signed as WSOP's first Brand Ambassador!

Day 2 of the Borgata Poker Open Main Event kicked off with 606 players from a total field of 1,226 entries (the fourth largest WPT event in history). After eight levels of play, 456 players had been sent packing and Blake Bohn bagged up the largest stack (807,500) amongst the remaining 150 players. He is followed by Justin Zaki (618,000), Darren Elias (594,000) and Season XII WPT Player of the Year Mukul Pahuja (562,000) at the top of the chip counts.

Mikal "mikal12345" Blomie has done it again! On Sunday, the Norwegian pro bested a a field of 7,801 players in Event #19: $109 No-Limit Hold'em to lay hands on $109,566 in prize money and his third World Championship of Online Poker title! The victory means that Blomie is one WCOOP victory behind Dan "djk123" Kelly's record of four titles.
