The Poker Hall of Fame traditionally elects one or two members every year. This year the enshrinement ceremony will be held in concert with the final table of the 2014 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas (November).
In 2009, at the age of 21, Joe Cada became the youngest Main Event winner ever after besting a field of 6,494 players. The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), the richest online tournament series of the year, is just around the corner. Day 6 of the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event began with 79 players, but after 11 hours of play only 27 remained. Swedish poker pro Martin Jacobson (perhaps best known for winning the 2014 EPT Vienna Main Event) will lead the remaining players into Day 7 with a stack of 22,335,000 - about 5.7 million more than Luis Velador (USA) in second place. According to WSOP's website, Jacobson got most of his chips in Level 27 when he won a big pot off Jason Johnson after he flopped a set with pocket 6's and got paid off by Johnson's pocket kings.

The two fields were seated in different rooms in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino; survivors from Day 1a played in the Amazon Room while the B's were playing in the Brasilia and Pavilion rooms. Once Day 2 was concluded, approximately 700 players survived from both fields out of the +1,900 players that came through from Day 1.
The chip leaders from Day 1, Martin Jacobson and Trey Luxemburger, could not hold on to the top through Day 2 although Jocobson played very well most of the day and finished 9th on 342,700 chips. Luxemburger finished the day on 64th with a stack worth 186,800. The man that bagged the most after Day 2 is a relatively unknown player called Tim Stansifer who took over the lead with a chip count of 481,500.

Day 1C of the 2014 Main Event was excpected to be the busiest of the three Day 1's - and this became a fact when 3,768 poker players showed up at The Rio All-Suite Casino on Monday morning, ready to get into the action for the $10 million first prize. With all three Day 1's combined, the total number of entries for this year's main event is now up to 6,683 players and the total prize pool for the top 693 players is $62,820,200.
Day 1C concluded after ten hours of play (five 2-hour levels). The chip leader, Eric Tracey, managed to bag 206,175 and close second to him is no-other than Phil Ivey with 187,025.
Day 1C had gathered a lot of famous poker players. Among the most recognisable faces that managed to survive Day 1C were David Tuchman, Jonathan Duhamel, Berry Johnston, Gerard Pique, and Scotty Nguyen. The chip leader is a pretty unknown player called Trey Luxemburger who managed to finish the day with 193,450 chips, closely follwed by Sarkis Hakobian on 190,125 and Ryan Buckholtz on 189,000.
Day 1B saw some familiar faces that managed to survive to Day 2B. Among these are Martin Staszko, Antoine Saout, Kevin Schaffel and Dennis Phillips. Some of the unfortunate poker profiles that were busted out on Day 1 were Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier,Paul Volpe, Chris Moorman, and “Doc” Sands.
Main Event Day 1C is expected to be have the highest number of participants of all Day 1's. In order to beat last years number of players, another 3,438 participants need to enroll.

On Thursday, after three action-packed days of poker, Phillip Hui had overcame a field of 457 runners to nab his first gold bracelet and the biggest payday of his career ($286,976) in Event #59: Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better!
No bracelet number 14 for Mr. Phil Hellmuth this time as he ended up in 6th place in Event #61: Seven Card Stud ($10,000 buy-in). Well, a big congratulations to Matt "Grapes" Grapenthien for besting an extremly tough field of 102 players to claim his first gold bracelet and $268,473 in prize money!
Grepenthien, a well respected online cash game grinder with some minor live tournament cashes dating back to 2004, overcame multiple chip disadvantages during the 9-hour final table, including the heads-up match against Todd Brunson.
