Day 3 of the Master Classics of Poker Main Event is running at the moment. 40 players have chips left and only 4 players need to hit the rail before the tournament has reached the money. The plan is to play the field of 40 players down to a final table, which will be played tomorrow, but of course anything can happen in the poker world.

In a quite big lead is the American Poker Pro Brandon Cantu, 30, with 666k chips. Cantu is a very experienced poker player who has, for example, two WSOP titles and a WPT title on his resume. Erik Seidel, as usual, holds the the Number 1 position, and close behind him are Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Jason Mercier.

Yesterday the first day of Master Classics of Poker was played in Amsterdam, Holland. 249 hopeful and excited poker players paid the buy-in of €5,000 and entered the tournament. When the day came to end 177 players had chips left. The average stack is about 50,000 and these are the top 10 players:

In case you haven't been living under a rock since yesterday morning you probably heard that the 2011 WSOP Main Event is over and that Pius Heinz, from Germany, is the champion. After defeating Martin Staszko in heads up, Heinz received the diamond bracelet and an amazing first place prize of $8,715,638. Add to that that he's the first German in WSOP history to win the Main Event.

After about 7,5 hours of 3-handed play, the 2011 World Series of Poker finally got a winner, Pius Heinz, 22, from Germany. Heinz is the first German player in WSOP history to win the Main Event. For the win he received amazing $8,7 million dollars (the 3rd biggest cash in WSOP history) while Martin Staszko got $5,4 million for his efforts. This is how the final hand was played out:

Martin Staszko had the button, and he went all in for 39,5 million. Heinz called straight away and flipped over AK, Staszko showed 107.
The tension in the room became palpable, and Staszko's and Heinz fans stood up and shouted for their cards.

The 2011 WSOP Main Event final table is still running and still a world champion hasn't been crowned. The 3 players who returned to the final table 7 hours ago were Pius Heinz, from Germany, with 107 million chips. In second place is Ben Lamb, from USA, with 55 million chips, and in third place is Martin Staszko, from Czech Republic, with 42 million chips.

According to new rumors, the Finnish Full Tilt Pro Patrik Antonius is playing at PokerStars under the nickname "Fake Love888". Since Black Friday when Full Tilt Poker was closed down, Antonius has claimed that he's not playing much poker and that he will lose millions of dollars if Full Tilt Poker doesn't pay back their players money.

However, some people claim that he's been a quite active player at PokerStars since a few months ago. A forum user on a big poker site recently posted this conversation from the PokerStars chat.

A big congratulations to Adrien Allain who took home the World Poker Tour Amneville Main Event last night. For the win he received €310,633 and his second trophy from a major poker tournament. The field of 379 players who signed up for the WPT Amneville Main Event 3 days ago have now become a field of 76 players as Day 1 and 2 are over. Chip leader is Urs Kohler with almost 500k chips, followed by Scott Baumstein with 481k. Other players of note to make it to Day 3 are, for example, Nesrine Kourdourli (431k), Joseph Cheong (380k) and Arnaud Mattern (258k). Play will resume at 12:00 (CET) today and will played for 5 90-minute levels or until the field has been narrowed down to 18 players. 

The Finnish poker pro Illari Sahamies has done it again. At Grand Casino in Baden, Germany, he once again made the biggest mistake a poker player can do - drink alcohol and play for high stakes. According to rumors, 16 players took part in the game where hundreds of thousands of euro changed owner, and Sahamies was so drunk that he barely could stand up. Apart of that, he called his opponents "retard, "monkey", "idiot" and other rude things. However, it's not clear whether he lost or won any money that night.

On November 26th we wrote some news about Richard "nutshino" Lyndaker and that he's planning on quitting poker. The reason for this is that Lyndaker has been running extremely bad this year and lost about $900,000. It's not a big secret that those losses has taken a big hit on his bankroll, and the messages on his twitter only confirms this.

Yesterday, November 2nd, Lyndaker wrote on his twitter that he's quitting poker until 2012 WSOP and that it's "Time to live a little". It will be interesting to see whether he manages to stay away from online and live poker until 2012 WSOP.

The World Poker Tour has now made a stop in Amneville, France, and already Day 1a and 1b have been played. Out of the 379 players that paid the €3200 + €300 and entered the tournament, 218 players still have chips left and will return to play Day 2 later on today.

Day 1a was lacking of superstars, but Day 1b attracted quite a few big names. For example there were 2 famous poker couples on show with Liv Boeree/Kevin MacPhee and Catherine Hong/Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Unfortunately both MacPhee and ElkY hit the rail at the early stages of Day 1b, but luckily both their girlfriends made it through to Day 2. Other notables that made it to Day 2 are Jamies Rosen, Arnaud Mattern, Joseph Cheong and famous French rap artist Bruno "Kool Sheen" Lopes.

It ended up being Daniel Santoro who took down the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, the $449,910 first prize, and his first WPT title. Santoro's road to the win could be described as a whirlwind, a roller-coaster, a yoyo, or a comeback and all would fit just fine.

Santoro arrived at the final table third in chips and he was 1 of the 3 large-stacks. Santoro played very well and had the poker gods on his side when he really needed them. After knocking out Carbone in 3rd place with pocket aces vs pocket 10s, Santoro entered heads-up with a 4-1 chip lead. Santoro's final opponent, Christian Harder, played very well and managed to double up through Santoro on 3 separate occasions and also overtook the lead from Santoro.

It was reported yesterday that the Groupe Bernard Tapie and the US Department of Justice (DOJ) have come to terms that allows GBT's acquisition of Full Tilt Poker to continue. The article states that if FTP's current shareholders agree to acquisition of their company, the deal with DOJ will provide for payment of all players worldwide.

The American poker player Al Krux was recently arrested due to drug possession after the police found 25 pounds of marijuana in his car. Also his son Adam was arrested with almost 15 pounds of marijuana, and at his home the police also found 90 marijuana plants. The police decided to take a closer look at Al Krux and his son after that neighbors had contacted them regarding "suspicious activity" going on in Krux's house. In total, Krux and his son had drugs with a street value of about 140-150k euro. But instead of enjoying that money they can now expect to spend many years in prison.

Yet another cheating scandal is about to emerge in the online poker world. This time it's two high stakes players that have fallen victim to a scam. Both players have had trojan horses installed on their computers by a German poker player who has won about $400,000 from them. The victims come from Switzerland and Austria and the German cheater is now located in England. One of the victims is rumored to be EPT Tallinn winner Ronny Kaiser.
