Tobey Maguire, who won $311,000 in illegal home games, will pay $80,000 each to the former clients of Brand Ruderman, who currently is serving time in Texas jail after being convicted of wire fraud and investment adviser fraud. Maguire is now one of 14 people (out of 22) who have settled their cases. Howard Ehrenberg, the bankruptcy trustee who sued the group, said on Monday that the poker settlement total more than $1.7 million. According to Ehrenberg, Maguire's payout is the in same range as the other who agreed to settlements.
"He did not end up with any better settlement than the others," Ehrenberg said.
It ended up being a very interesting final table of the WPT Marrakech main event since 3 PokerStars Pros, Arnaud Mattern, Jonathan Duhamel and "ElkY", were on it. However, neither of them stood a chance against the native Mohamed Ali Houssam. Houssam, the Day 1 chip leader, played fantastic poker on the final table and always seemed to be one step ahead of his opponents. He also managed to keep a cool head when the cards weren't on his side, and also when he made a bad play... and it really paid off! For the win of WPT Marrakech he received a first price of amazing $267,011 - the biggest cash in his entire poker career!
Apparently APPT Macau didn't only attract big names to come and play poker tournaments, but also some high stakes players who were up for playing cash games. According to what "MacauPro" writes in a big poker forum, Johnny Chan, the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner, won about 11 million Hong King Dollars (US$1.4 million) in different cash games, and players like Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey (took part in the main event as well), Guy Laliberte and Tom Dwan were involved in some big games as well. However, "MacauPro" doesn't seem to know how much they have won or lost. As for Tom Dwan, Poker Portal Asia wrote that Dwan was in Macau but that he had to go back to the US for a few days because he lost his passport.
It's not only in Europe and America that major poker tournaments take place. Last week, the 2011 PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau kicked off and of course the main event was the highlight. Yesterday, after several days of play, 15 players remained and continued the fight towards the main event final table. And guess what? The final table ended up being played the very same day and also a winner was crowned, Randy Lew.
The Finnish poker pro Ilari Sahamies has been doing extremely well at PokerStars high stakes tables lately. In a little bit more than a week's time he has won more than $1 million dollars. In total, he's up about 2.3 million this year - the highest total anyone has reached this year in the high stakes scene (according to different results tracking sites).
One of his best sessions this year came on Tuesday night at the $200/$400 PLO tables. Well, on one table he lost around $120k, but that didn't stop him from winning amazing $535k on another table - in just a few hours. It was a well- deserved profit for our favorite Finn.
The PokerStars 10 year anniversary celebration is still going on, and yesterday campaign 7 of 10 was launched, cash game leaderboards with $1 million in guaranteed prizes. The leaderboards are divided in micro, low, medium and high in the game variations NL/PL and fixed limit. Each leaderboard last for 24 hours and then the winners will be paid and the lists will be reseted. This campaign will go on until December 2nd, so it's still plenty of time to take part and win some nice prizes.

Yesterday the long-awaited kickboxing match between PokerStars Pros Lex "RaSZi" Veldhuis, from Holland, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, from France, took place. The 27-year-old Dutchman had a lot more experience in kickboxing and took the command straight away.
ElkY survived the first round, but a bit into the second round he got a kicked in the face and fell to the floor. He managed to get up again for a few minutes before Veldhuis kicked him down once again.
Anthony Ruberto beat a field of 393 players and took home the World Poker Tour Jacksonville main event for $325,928 - the biggest cash in his poker career. When the final table began, Ruberto had a huge chip lead (more than 2 million-chip advantage over his closest opponent) and his biggest threat was Darryll Fish, who has experience playing in the WPT spotlight after finishing 6th in Season IX's LA Poker Classic. But Fish was knocked out already in 6th place and none of the other opponents could stop Ruberto from laying hands on the first prize and the WPT Jacksonville trophy.
Final table results: 1 Anthony Ruberto $325,928 2 Sam Soverel $187,762 3 Lisa Hamilton $112,657 4 Vitor Coelho $75,105 5 Artie Rodriguez $55,077 6 Darryll Fish $46,315
After that Matt Ezrol (picture) was eliminated in 7th place ($40,056), the official six-handed final table is now set.
Seat 1: Darryll Fish - 641,000 Seat 2: Anthony Roberto - 4,500,000 Seat 3: Sam Soverel - 1,432,000 Seat 4: Vitor Coelho - 2,570,000 Seat 5: Artie Rodriguez - 797,000 Seat 6: Lisa Hamilton - 1,901,000
The final table begins today at 12:00pm local time and live streaming begins at 12:30 (half an hour delay). The big favorite to take home the tournament is, of course, Anthony Roberto who has a huge chip advantage over the other finalists. According to different results tracking sites, Anthony has only cashed once before in a live tournament and that prize was smaller than the buy-in for this tournament. In other words, he's guaranteed to get away with a great bankroll boost no matter what happens on the final table.
Last Friday the World Poker Tour stopped by the Jacksonville Poker Room in Florida and a main event with a $3,500 buy-in kicked off. Now, after 3 long days of play, the tournament is down to 42 players. 40 of these players are guaranteed to get away with at least $7,5000 each, but of course that's peanuts compared to the money that will up for grabs on the final table tomorrow (check the payout structure below).
The first ever EPT stop in Greece, EPT Loutraki, has come to an end. The main event attracted a field of 336 players who generated a prize pool €1,344,000, and yesterday the tournament got a winner, Zimnan Ziyrad. For the win Ziyrad, 25, from UK, received a first prize of €347,000 - the biggest cash in his career. This is was he said after the big win.
"I feel great. It was a very tough day," Ziyard said. "I had an easy run the first few days but this was totally different. It was definitely the most challenging table I've ever played."
The American poker pro Antonio Esfandiari is a well-known face in the poker world under the nickname "The Magician. But it's not only at the poker table that Esfandiari can perform magic and trick his opponents. In the radio show Donkr Radio Show Esfandiari talked about a trip with his friend to Tanzania, Africa, where they went out hunting and also played some home games of poker.
The EPT Loutraki main event has now been played for 3 days, and in a few hours 100 players will return with hopes of becoming 1 of the 48 players who will receive a share from the $€1,344,000. Day 1a and 1b both ended with a German players in the lead. But once Day 2 came to an end, not a single German is among the top 10 players.
The chip leader is the Team PokerStars Pro Toni Judet from Romania with 288,200, and in second place is Grudi Grudev from Bulgaria with 251,600 chips. Apart from Toni Judet, there is only 1 Team PokerStars Pro with chips left, Ana Marquez. Marquez has 69,000 chips and is closely followed by David Vamplew with 67,600 chips.
Not fresh news but still worth checking out (if you haven't seen it before of course). During WPT Malta Tony G, dressed up in baby clothes with a beautiful lady by his side, challenged Phil Hellmuth to come and play heads-up for €1,000,000. Enjoy the video!
In the past few days, there has been a lot of talk and rumors regarding Phil Ivey and his ex-wife Luciaetta Ivey. The couple parted ways back in 2009 after some complications in court. Now, 2 years later, a new conflict has been brought to daylight. The newspaper Las Vegas Review-Journal writes that Luciaetta, through her lawyer, has handed in documents to Nevada Supreme Court where she claims that the Judge, Bill Gonzales (the man who handled their divorce case), was biased in their divorce since Phil Ivey gave Gonzales money to his personal campaign. In total, Phil Ivey should have donated $5-6k to Bill Gonzales in April 2010.
Both starting days of the first ever EPT Loutraki main event are now in the books. In total, 102 players made it through Day 1a and 130 day 1b, which means that 232 players will return to play around noon today. The official prize pool and payout structure is still to be confirmed though. In the lead is Mario Puccini from Germany with 159k, and about 16k chips behind him is Team PokerStars Pro Tony Judet from Romania (both players from Day 1b). A few notables that survived day 1b: Johnny Lodden, Kevin MacPhee and Eugene Katchalov.
Early this morning the police made a raid against Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg, Sweden. The raid resulted in that 8 persons were arrested, of which 7 worked at the casino. According to the police, these 8 persons (2 men and 6 women) have cheated the casino of hundreds of thousands (Swedish crowns) since the summer this year.
The fraud has taken place at the casino's game tables and thanks to security cameras and security staff the police have plenty of proof. The arrested persons will be heard by the police during the day and it's probably just a matter of time before the police can give further information on the matter.
Greece has waited a very long time for the European Poker Tour to pay them a visit. Yesterday, the long wait was finally over as the first ever EPT Loutraki main event kicked off. Day 1a attracted a field of 145 runners who could afford the buy-in of €4,400.
Many all ins and Bad beats later the first day came to and end with 102 remaining players, and Julian Herold, from Germany, is the chip leader with a stack of 138k. A few notables that will join Herold at the poker tables tomorrow are Ana Marques, Chris Moorman and David Vamplew.
Now, it will be interesting to see how many players that will come and play Day 1b today. Let's hope for at least 200 players so there will be a nice prize pool.
A few days ago we wrote that Jennifer Tilly is about to quit poker and that she will focus on her acting career instead. Yesterday, Party Poker posted a video interview with Jennifer Tilly where she says that she's not giving up poker, but instead she's no longer going to have it as her top priority in life.

According to CNBS sports analyst Darren Rovell, who tweeted a story by Fox that breaks down the tax situation for each 2011 November Nine player.
It's soon time for another world record attempt by the world's largest poker site, PokerStars. The upcoming world record attempt will take place on December 4, 2011 at 12:30 EST and the aim is to create the biggest ever online tournament in poker history.

Now PokerStars hope to break that record with a $1 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000 + $10 bounty to whoever knocks out a member of its Team PokerStars Pro.
