Jake Cody is back on the free-agent market again. The 24-year-old Brit joined PKR last November after winning the $25,000 NLHE Heads-Up event at the 2011 WSOP to complete poker's triple crown (EPT, WPT and WSOP titles).
He was the biggest name of Team PKR Pro during the year he represented PKR online and in different tournaments around the globe. It will be interesting to see if PKR will look for a new superstar in the poker world to join its Team PKR Pro, which today consists of four members: Vladimir "Beyne" Geshkenbein, Sofia "wellbet" Lövgren, Scott Shelley and Marc "Waswini" Bariller.

Day 2 of the PartyPoker sponsored WPT Copenhagen is in the books with 45 survivors. During the last stages of Day 2 the battle for the chip lead was between these players: Steve O'Dwyer, Sergii Baranov, Peter Jepson and Frie Dilling Kjaer. All four players took turns at holding the lead, but at the end of the day it was Frei Dilling Kjaer who had the biggest stack (445,500).

The action on PokerStars' nosebleed tables has slowed down quite a bit since Full Tilt Poker reopened for business. However there were some pretty nice $200/$400 PLO ring games running there on Monday with Ilari Sahamies, Sam Tricket, Barcode and other regulars in the centre of the action. Barcode, whose identity is unknown, ended up as Monday's biggest winner with a $232.6k profit. Most of the profit came from a $282k pot - that could have been a $680k pot. Noah Schwartz had almost half of the 14 million chips in play when the final table of the WPT bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble Main Event kicked off last night. When the final table was 68-hands-old Schwartz and Byron Kaverman began playing heads-up with nearly even stacks. The heads-up match only lasted 12 hands and was fairly even with no big pots until the very last hand.

The World Poker Tour Copenhagen Main Event attracted a total of 229 players this time. After two days of play, the field has been reduced to 141 with Day 1A winner Andre Petrovic (picture), from Sweden, out in front with 220,400 chips. Day 2 kicks off at 12:00 CET (03:00 PDT) and the biggest names in the remaining squad of players are Sean Jazayeri (91k), Theo Jorgensen (53k), Kara Scott (43k), Steve O'Dwyer (38k), Marvin Rettenmaier (31k) and Ana Marquez (26k). Famous players who were eliminated during Day 1A and Day 1B: Tony G, Daniel "Jungleman" Cates, Ville Wahlbeck, Anton Wigg & Ramzi Jelassi.

The first day of the World Poker Tour Copenhagen Main event saw a field of 98 players and 56 of them made it through the day (7 levels of play). The chip leader at the end of Day 1a was Andre Petrovic, from Sweden, who managed to accumulate 220,400 chips and he led from start to finish. Day 1b begins in a few hours and, of course, a greater field of players is expected to show up today.

Noah Schwartz ($1,209,326 in WPT earnings) will bring more than 6 million chips to the final table of the WPT bestbet Jacksonville Main Event! He took the lead in the last few minutes of Day 3 when he doubled up through the previous chip leader Hans Winzeler with AK vs AQ. Schwartz enters the final table tonight with more than 43% of the chips in play. Besides Schwartz, Lee Markholt ($1,376,164 in WPT earnings) will be going for his second WPT title, so it will be a very thrilling final table to watch.

On Sunday, the long-awaited poker episiode of The Simpsons was finally broadcasted: "Gone, Abie, Gone." The main theme focused on Abe (Homer's dad) and a mistress he met while performing music at various bars during his 30s. Meanwhile Homer is burned while ordering onion rings at Krusty Burger. He sues the restaurant, gets $5,000, then deposits the money into an online site because Moe tells him that it's safer than a normal bank account.

Anthony "holdplz" Spinella, an American poker pro with almost $2.5 million in online and live winnings, has got himself into some serious trouble. Spinella and two friends (Jared Joseph Roberge and Daniel Karabchievsky) were arrested on a Framingham street last Saturday with more than 20,000 hits of LSD, Ecstasy and nitrous oxide in a case with apparent ties to a California drug dealer, a prosecutor said Monday.

A total of 477 players signed up for World Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble last Friday and Saturday. Day 1A, Day 1B and Day 2 are now concluded and the player field has been narrowed down to 28 players. The average stack is 511k, Joseph Elpayaa (picture) has the lead with 924,000 chips and Noah Schwartz in ranked second with 916,000. Besides Schwartz, the two biggest names with chips left are Jonathan Aguiar (604,000) and John Racener (593,000).
The remaining players are guaranteed at least $9,158 each - with the chance of laying hands on the top prize of $402,970! We will be back with another update tomorrow morning!

In the most recent episode of the 2012 EPT Berlin Main Event, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst and Kevin MacPhee played a very interesting hand. Selbst betted 17k from UTG, MacPhee reraised to 37,000. Selbst made it 79k, and MacPhee 5-bet to 131k. Selbst asked Kevin MacPhee how much he had left, then went all in. MacPhee made the call after 1 minute of going through potential hands Selbst could have.

Brian Townsend completed the Sahara Race 2012, a 5-day running competition in Egypt that began Oct. 28! It took him 53 hours to complete the 155-mile race through the extremely hot (and sometimes very cold) Sahara desert, and he finished 78th place out the 146 people who participated.

Michael Domenico Figliano, from Ramsgate, Australia borrowed heavily from his mother before losing almost $400,000 at a Syndey casino. Figliano was convicted in the Downing Centre Local Court of materially contributing to his insolvency by gambling, the Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia (ITSA) announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Canada's first ever WSOP Circuit Main Event (The River Rock Main Event) is now in the history books. John Crncic, a poker amateur from Vancouver who won his seat through a $180 satellite, ended up taking home the whole thing for $286,382, a WSOP circuit gold ring, and a free seat in the $1 million National Championship. Apart from those amazing prizes, Crncic's boss promised him to pay the buy-in to the 2013 WSOP Main event if he won. Crncic assured the WSOP that his boss was a man of his word.
"I'm afraid I'm going to wake up and it's going to just be a dream," Crncic told the WSOP following his win. "It's absolutely fantastic. This is much more than I hoped for."

The World Poker Tour has just announced the remaining nine events/stops on its 2013 schedule. In total, 7 events have been played this season, including the first ever stops in South Africa and China, and there are another 15 events left to be played (22 in total). The biggest first prize so far this year was won by Ben Jamnett at the Borgata Poker Open ($819,847), but with so many events left to be played, including a $25k & a $100k buy-in tournament, that record will for sure be beaten. The godfather of poker, Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson, posted on twitter yesterday that he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, which he described as 'a slow growth type'. Brunson, 79, has beaten cancer 3 times in the past and many believe that he will do it another time.

A total of 1,032 player signed up for the first ever WSOP Circuit Main Event (The River Rock Main Event) held in Canada - the third largest in WSOP Circuit history and the largest cash buy-in poker tournament ever in Canada. After 3 days of play, the player field had been narrowed down to only 9 players and Day 3 chip leader Sonny Sekhon held 4,660,000 chips, almost 33 percent more than Ryan Biermann in second place.

Sister Mary Anne Rapp, a nun in Orleans County, N.Y. was ordered to court last Monday. Reason? She is being accused of stealing $128,000 from two churches between 2006 and 2010. According to The Buffalo News, the authorities believe the money was spent gambling. According to another news site, Rapp has spent 9 1/2 months receiving in-patient treatment for a gambling addiction and is still in recovery, but she still faces a criminal charge of grand larceny following her thefts from St. Mary and St. Mark congregations.
"This is a difficult time for all of us," Sister Edith Wyss, a minister who knows the defendant, told the Associated Press, "especially those of us who have lived and worked with Sister Mary Anne for her nearly 50 years in our community."

The final match between Daniel "jungleman / w00ki3z" Cates and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky took 3,179 hands (about 10 hours) to complete. Cates dominated most of the match with his aggressive and creative style of playing heads-up poker. Sulsky only made a short comeback about 8 hours into the match, but Cates proved too strong for him to handle.

The All-Star Showdown semifinals were played over the weekend. Team Online's Ike Haxton and Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky battled for 19 hours (about 4,200 hands) until a winner had been crowned: Ben Sulsky. Not long after this marathon match came to an end it was time for the second semifinal between Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond and Daniel "w00ki3z" Cates. This match took a little more than seven hours to run through just over 3,000 hands. Cates was down for the most of the beginning hours of the match, however, he made an amazing comeback in the last 800 hands of the match and managed to defeat Sulsky.
The final of the All-Star Showdown is being played right now. Sulsky and Cates are guaranteed at least $250,000 each. The winner will take home an amazing $550k and the first All-Star Showdown trophy.

PokerStars Team Pro, former model and TV presenter Liv Boeree's new TV show "I Bet My Life" will be aired this Sunday on the Travel Channel across the USA at 11pm.
The show is about Liv Boeree, her boyfriend and fellow tournament player Kevin MacPhee travelling to and playing in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo.
