Erick Lindgren and Erica Schoenberg got married on May 29th in Santa Barbara, California. Many of poker's biggest names, including Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, attended the event! However, it remains unclear whether David Benyamine (Erica Schoenberg's ex-boyfriend) was there to congratulate them.

Phil Ivey, who many consider the best poker player in the world, has finally spoken out on Black Friday. In a press release that was released on May 30th, Phil writes that he's very disappointed that Full Tilt players still haven't received their money since Black Friday and therefore he has decided not to take part in the 2011 WSOP. But that's not all. Phil has also filed a lawsuit against Tiltware, the company that handles Full Tilt Poker's withdrawals, and he's working day and night to solve the problem.

Gus Hansen continues to win at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables, and last week he was the biggest winner once again with a $428k profit. The big win last week also means that his lead on the yearly leaderboard has increased.

Patrik Antonius and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom are examples of 2 players who didn't do so well last week. Antonius lost almost half a million dollars and Blom, who's has been running quite good lately, lost just about $150,000.

The WPT Barcelona Spanish Championships final table was played last Sunday. Lukas Berglund, 18, from Sweden, arrived at the final table in the middle of the field. However, it didn't take long before the young swede won a 3-way all-in and eliminated 2 players.

After that, he knocked out all of the remaining players and laid hands on the first place prize of €206,000. It was a very well-deserved win by the young swede who we probably will hear more about in the future.

The investor and poker player David Einhorn has bought a significant share of the Baseball Team New York Mets. Einhorn is best known for being an extremely successful trader of hedge funds. His biggest tournament cash was at the 2006 WSOP Main Event where he ended up in 18th place for $650,000, which he donated to charity.

It's not yet official how big part of New York Mets Einhorn now owns. According to different rumors, he has bought 49% of the company for $200,000,000. If the rumors are true, Einhorn is majority owner of the company.

Day 1b of the WPT Spanish Championship is over after eight levels of poker. The 122-player field was narrowed down to 62 during a thrilling and entertaining day (check out the video below and you'll get my drift). This means that 116 players will return to the Gran Casino in Barcelona today and play Day 2. The total attendance of the Spanish Championship was 216 players and it's giving the tournament a prize pool of €691,200.

Two days ago (Tuesday), Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Gavin "gavz101" Cochrane once again played heads-up at PokerStars nosebleed tables. This time they played six $50/$100 PLO tables for about 3 hours (almost 3000 hands). When the session had come to an end, Viktor Blom stood as the winner with a $91,000 profit.

The largest hand of the session was a $49k pot where Isildur1 flopped straight draw and gavz101 had pocket aces. Both players went all-in and Isildur1 got his straight already on the turn - just to improve to an higher straight on the river.

Unfortunately our Full Tilt Poker leaderboard has not been updated since Friday 20th of May but according to Full Tilt Poker, we should expect the results to arrive this coming Friday/Saturday, so we'll do our best to upload them sometime during the weekend, so you will be able to see the current results before the last few days of this months leaderboard.

Also, there will be another leaderboard in June which should be ready to start already on Wednesday June 1st, unless this delay will push it a few days, but we're aiming for a June leaderboard starting the 1st, as planned.

Yesterday, the first starting day of the WPT Barcelona Spanish Championship kicked off at the Gran Casino in Barcelona. Everyone expected a quite big field of players to show, but unfortunately it didn't end up that way. Only 94 players came to play the first starting day of WPT Barclona, and at the end of the day 54 of them still had chips left.

In the lead is Artur Koren (picture) with 122,800 chips, and in second place is Justin Tazelaar with 112,500 chips. Unfortunately there weren't many big names to be found in the field that survived Day 1a. Let's hope that Day 2 will attract a much greater player field, and that we also get to see some bigger names who survive the day with healthy stacks.

The WPT-final at the Bellagio in Vegas came to an end less than a week ago. Today at 15:00 CET, it's time for the WPT Spanish Championship at the Gran Casino in Barcelona, Spain. It cost €3,500 to enter the tournament, and a large field of players are expected to take part.

The final table, where some serious cash is up for grabs, will be played on Sunday. Unfortunately there won't be a High Roller event this time, but there are plenty of other events with large buy-ins, so hopefully many big names that get knocked out of the Main Event will stay in Barcelona.

Another week of high stakes action is now in the books. Gus Hansen and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom ended up being the 2 biggest winners at Full Tilt and PokerStars nosebleed tables. It was well-needed win for the Team PokerStars Pro Viktor Blom who managed to reduce his loses this year to "only" $100,000.

Gus Hansen, the Danish Full Tilt Pro, increased his lead on the yearly leaderboard. In total Gus has now won $3,513,550 this year - $1,5 million more than his closest opponents gavz101 ($1,996,983) and jungleman12 ($1,952,994).

Last week, Gus Hansen, from Denmark, lost his first place in the yearly leaderboard to the Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius. Now, after a few fantastic sessions against Antonius in the end of last week, Gus Hansen is once again back in the lead!

In total he has won $3,513,550 this year and he has a good margin over his 2 closest opponents gavz101 ($1,996,983) and jungleman12 ($1,952,994). Gus is not only the biggest winner this year but also the most active player at Full Tilt's high stakes tables with around 130,000 hands.

The 2011 WPT Championship has come to an end and Scott Seiver, who entered the final table second in chips, is the winner after knocking out Farzad Bonyadi in second place! This is how the final hand was played out.

Scott Seiver raised to 400,00, and Bonyadi called. Both players checked to the river on the board of 1062QK. Bonyadi checked, Seiver bet 600,000. Bonyadi raised to 1,600,000. Seiver thought for a while before he moved all in. Then it took about 3 minutes before Bonyadi decided to call.

The WPT Super High Roller was the first-ever event with a $100,000 buy-in in the U.S, and the turnout was a huge success! Not less than 29 players entered the tournament and made it one of the most interesting & thrilling tournaments in WPT history.

Bonomo, Rajkumar, Negreanu, Lindgren and Seidel made it to the final table after several hours of play. Of these players, Erik Seidel and Erick Lindgren ended up playing heads-up. However, during level 20, both players decided to take a break and continue the day after (Friday).

Erick Lindgren and Erik Seidel are the last 2 players in the WPT World Championship Super High Roller event at Bellagio in Las Vegas. Yesterday, during level 20, tournament director Jack McClelland gave Seidel and Lindgren the option to play it out or take a break and continue the day after. Both players agreed that they would prefer to take a break.

Today at 12:30pm the heads-up will resume. It will for sure be a very thrilling match to follow since both players are extremely good and have plenty of chips to gamble with. And of course the first place prize of $1,092,780 adds to the thrill!

Professional poker players are known to gamble for lots of money, and it's not only poker and sports betting they love to bet on. Daniel Cates, 2010's biggest winner online, recently said in an interview that he betted $25,000 to the odds 1/4 in a game of Angry Birds against his close friend Ashton Griffins. Even though a lot of money was at stake, the only rule was that the one who accumulated most points on the first map would take home the money. However, the prop bet could not be completed since Cates's iPhone broke down.

"I lost because my iPhone stopped working during the game. So I ended up losing all my points and was forced to pay Griffin some money to cancel the prop bet," said Cates in the interview.

After 5 long days of play there are now only 6 remaining players in the World Poker Tour World Championship. These 6 players will now get to rest one day before it's time to return to the Bellagio in Las Vegas and play the final table. The one who will bring the biggest stack to the final table is no one else than PCA winner Galen Hall, and only 20k chips behind him is Scott Seiver, a player whose reached several WSOP (1 bracelet) and NAPT final tables.

On March 7th, 2011, the Sunday Million 5th Anniversary tournament was played at the world's biggest poker site, PokerStars. The tournament run smoothly and ended up being a huge success. But it didn't take more than a few days before chocking rumors on one of the finalists started popping up in different forums online. The rumors were that 'zeurrr', who won $518,402 on the final table, is a minor and PokerStars had confiscated his winnings. PokerStars shortly after confirmed that the rumors were true, however, they couldn't say what they would do with zeurrr's confiscated tournament winnings.

50 of about 70 winners of the European Poker Tour took part in the Champion of Champions tournament at the end of last week. After several hours of play on the final table, Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier was the last man standing and became the event's first ever winner, defeating PCA winner Galen Hall heads-up for a first prize worth €50,000 in EPT Season 8 buy-ins. Hall received €25,000 in buy-ins for his second-place finish.
